      Does it shave it right down to the skin like a wet razor would, or does it leave a fine stubble? I use an electric trimmer at the moment with no guard on and set to the lowest setting to get a close cut but with stubble as I prefer that look.

    I purchased this shaver based off your first review. Had it 3 weeks. Just charged it again for the first time. Has its cons but it’s Quick and easy to use. Agree on some of the points that don’t make it perfect. But doubt they’ll ever be a perfect product. Stuck to the 2 day rule so far and had no major issues. 2-3 mins to shave each time but I do have my wife check it over to make sure I haven’t missed any patches
    Thanks for the follow up review too though. Liked and subscribed based on these 2 reviews! Keep up the good work

    Thanks Harry, good to see the ONLY long term review of these products that I could find. I'd encourage a six or 12 month review too. I've now had two of these in a year, and both stopped working. The blades spin, stutter just as you reported, then stop. This gets progressively worse over time, despite proper lubrication, a full charge, and not using it on long hair. So buyers beware - great product for the first dozen cuts, but in my experience, they go downhill rapidly.

It does a great job but the motor does that stop/start thing, but if you add more water or shaving cream to your head it goes again. Agree with the sideburns, I just use a normal manual razor for those just to tidy it up.

    Thank you for the great review Harry. Been wondering about these shavers and if they're any good etc. Been shaving my head with wet razor for over 35years and thought this type of shaver would save me time and money (wet head shaving eats up blades etc). But looking at your video it seems to take a long time and the skin looks rather irritated after the your shaving. Also you mentioned in-grown hairs which is another (big) put-off for me with a bald-ish scalp covered in spots etc.
    It looks like they cannot cut as close as wet shaving either....I guess that is obvious though to be fair :)
    I was sitting on the fence about purchasing one, but for me, I think your video confirms to stick with wet shaving.
    Again many thanks for posting this and being so honest on your review.
    Cheers

Update May 2022 I've had one for nearly 2 years now, it's still great but you also have to clean between the blades as they will eventually clog up with small hairs.

    Been using this for two weeks and agree with everything you have said. Gives a surprisingly close shave for an electric razor but does take longer than 2 minutes. The start stop issue you mentioned can also occur if you press too hard.
    One thing that you did not mention is that you cant pull the individual cutters out when attempting to give it a deep clean. It also means that you will also have to buy a replacement head when the cutters get blunt rather than being able to pull them out and sharpen them yourself at home.

    seem to be so many similar options now.
    The fact it locks up at slightly longer hair makes me a bit concerned about how strong the motor in this one might be vs say some of the more pricey options out there.

    I've just ordered one of these from Amazon, as wet shaving can be a bit of a pain! Now that I'm into my mid-seventies my hair is white and a bit sparse, so any bits that I miss while I'm getting used to it won't show up very much. And as all I have now is a moustache rather than my wintertime beard, the problems around the sideburns won't apply.

    Went from buzzing my head to shaving it with a cartridge razor in the shower a few months ago and love the feeling of my freshly shaved scalp (nothing better than when a t shirt slides off). Only problem is that I find it very time consuming...... how short do these type of shavers actually cut? Does your head feel smooth after a head shave or can you feel the stubble afterwards? I'm tempted to get one just to save time but if they leave a stubble then I'm not sure. Any replies greatly appreciated. Cheers guys

    I bought one in February and I am very impressed with the close shave. I am not impressed with the motor "getting stuck", because it does happen, even when I tried to shave my head the very next day. It takes me about 4 minutes to shave and I generally do it every two days. I was surprised it didn't come with any oil, as trimmers in the past always had this tiny little bottle of oil with it. Overall it's really good, easy to use, really the only negative thing is the motor getting stuck sometimes.

    • @2112jonr
      @2112jonr Год назад

      Yep, that motor getting stuck problem gets worse and worse over time. On my second one of these in 1 year, even minimal head contact with short hair causes it to stutter. Utterly useless, I won't be buying Remington again.

    Harry, I have a Remington Quick Cut (which you helped convince me to get last year).
    How does the RX5 fare up against that? I prefer the closeness of a wet shave, but is this significantly closer than the Quick Cut or are they too similar to warrant a purchase?

    • @djlancaster1
      @djlancaster1 4 года назад +1

      Hey CJM. I have the Remington Flex 360, which seems to be an older variant of the RX5. I moved on to that after using the Remington Quick cut for about a year. I really liked the quickcut. As Harry mentioned in his review, the quickcut is really quick, but isn't super close. The Flex 360 (and I assume the RX5 as well) cut a good deal closer than the quickcut, so I'd definitely recommend getting either the Flex 360 or RX5. The Flex 360 does take a fair bit longer than the quickcut, but with better results. The RX5 with its 5 foils seems to be quicker.
