To my mind, the new model is not a Big Pilot. They have completely done away with the traditional aspects that epitomised this watch. Obviously it is a a sales tactic as there are not many people that can pull off a 46mm chunky piece of steel, but it's more like a MKXVIII than a BP.
I bought the BP43 in May this year. Smaller strap with the 2 rivets is coming late this year. In the mean time the boutique gave me a smaller size fabric strap. Problem solve no more extra strap sticking out. . Hope this helps
Newer one without doubt (smaller size, see through caseback), although I would have liked if they kept the date window. Glad they got rid of the small dial which spoiled the look of the old version.
I thought that too. After trying both extensively I came to the conclusione the new one is an amazing watch but it’s not a big pilot. It’s a big mark xx. Lovely but it misses a lot. I’d save some money and buy the mark xx. Or spend more and get the real deal. It’s not so unwearable as it seems.
The bigger one looks better, it has a more interesting dial with power reserve and a little splash of red.

The 43mm is a lovely watch but the leather strap end sticking out as much as it does spoils it for me
