@@johnnyriley8454 You make good points, but keep in mind that Virginia housed South Carolina 28-0 in what was effectively a home game for the Gamecocks. No excuses either - the Gamecocks were embarrassed. Separately, Syracuse was solid - they only lost three games, one of which was to Clemson and another to Notre Dame. Syracuse also destroyed West Virginia in their bowl game. The SEC was clearly not as good as we all thought, but certainly nobody is saying that the ACC is a tougher conference than the SEC. All that being said, Bama will be back - they are still the standard. Best of luck to the Tide in '19.

I don't see how the outcome changes anything. We are still in an endless cycle of Alabama-Clemson for the foreseeable future (with the occasional one-off interrupting the pattern). That's where we've been for 4 years now.
After OU drilled Alabama in the sugar bowl. Saban tried for years to get rules changed about spread offenses. He was denied. And THeN he changed his offense to Big-12 style offense. Saban knew that any defense from any conference was gonna get shredded against the fast paced Mike Leach style offense ran in the Big12.
SEC fans need to stop drinking the ESPN CoolAid. Your conference is NO better then any other P5 conference. ESPN own SEC tv rights. So they constantly talk them UP which BTW really helps The SEC in recruiting. But nonetheless everyone is beatable.

This year they were 3-1 in bowls against them, highlighted by Texas stomping a Georgia team that many SEC fans said should've been in the top 4. SEC was .500 in bowls this year, and the previous 2 years it had losing records - it's time to stop acting like it's a clearly dominant conference when there aren't any statistics to back that up.

This goes for both Clemson and bama and it's just gonna get worse as the more times these two super teams meet in the cfb championship the more the top prospects just go to these schools to get attention by nfl scouts. I don't blame the players for doing this but I think it would be better to have more pairity to keep things interesting. Just my $0.02.

Clemson’s last drive was a 10 minute display of Alabama giving up. Clemson could’ve dropped 58, and that’s not an exaggeration.
Not only did the entire media miss the fact that Clemson was better than Alabama, but by a lot. They were more talented, and younger, EVERYWHERE.
This wasn’t 2 superior talents clashing, one team was WAY more talented.
The media has spent too much time protecting a Bama legacy, and completely overlooked that a program had caught them, not only talent wise, but depth and development.
Clemson has been going 4 years strong. They know what it takes to be hunted.

The reason there’s not a true playoff in division 1-a college football is due to the lack of parity. You have two behemoths in Alabama and Clemson, and then some really good teams in Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, and arguably Notre Dame and LSU, and then a bunch of good teams (Michigan, Texas, Washington, Penn State, etc). And there’s a very clear distinction between each of the tiers. It’s not like division 1-aa football or division 1 basketball where there are a lot of teams that can all realistically claim to have a shot at the championship.
Lol no one is Denying Clemson is a great team, they beat us twice we beat them twice. Everyone respected Clemson going in. The idea you have that Clemson is the underdog that no one gave a chance to is what's comical.

I wouldn't say they got lazy. If you watched that game, you know that Alabama gave it their all. Problem is, as good as that Bama d-line is, it was nowhere as good as clemson's D-line. I guarantee you each one of those players would've gone in the first round if they were the main guy on their defense.

I think the top 8 teams should be in a playoff bracket. This would keep it interesting and would provide excitement across the board. No one wants to keep seeing the best recruited teams easily go 15-0/ 14-1, etc...
