It also goes the opposite way too. A month or so ago I ordered pizza and it never showed up. Idk why, but when I called to ask where it was they sent the same person again so I just got some credits and no pizza. It was snowy out so that's probably why they didn't wanna deliver it, even though I gave them a good tip

Honestly, doordash is disrespectful and a waste of your gas to start with. They don't pay you at all, they consider your tip as your pay, they punish you for not accepting shitty no tip deliveries and they don't value you at all even though without you they would be nothing. Proof that they don't value you is that they (including Uber, Lyft, etc) pushed a prop in California (through their app to manipulate everyone) while straight up lying to everyone the intent of the proposition. Lawmakers were attempting to prevent the exploitation of these workers and they passed a prop to prevent that.
And time. Not to mention safety. It coulda easily been some dude answering the door swinging his fists, or worse, over a meal. Plenty of people can be put into danger for knocking on doors confronting trashy people. What a mess.

Right this happened to me as well, I had to leave the customer food at her door and took a picture because she had it set to “hand it to me” but I was waiting on her for like 10 minutes never came to the door, so I left it. I was already double parked and holding up traffic I wasn’t about to wait for her to do anything, I had called them and all no answer so I left. The not even 10 minutes later I get the notification that I never delivered it 🤦🏾♀️ these customers are straight assholes

Because of people like this when I genuinely didn’t have my order delivered I was basically called a liar and I never saw my $120 again (I was ordering for my in laws as well, a total of 8 people). I deleted the app, I use Deliveroo now
@@karleemay5995 in the same way that this guy recorded his interaction, if you had a door chime camera you would have proof of whether or not someone came to your front door and thus proof of the delivery or lack thereof. Not that proof should be incumbent upon yourself, but having it would've been very helpful in your situation.

Blame the company. They do nothing about it. They can't do anything about it. They operate every quarter with massive losses. Doordash, Uber, Postmates, NONE of them turn a profit, nor have they ever turned a profit. They abuse and exploit the "gig contract work" culture to the point where they have absolutely no overhead... They don't pay for vehicles, maintenance, fuel, or insurance on. They inflate menu prices, rip off small business and customers with exorbitant fees (who likes paying 75 dollars on Taco Bell for 3 people and having to wait 90 minutes?) and still can't make a damn dime. No one should be using this service. Objectively, it shouldn't exist and it's a testament to modern day startup strategy of finding a never ending supply of venture capital groups to keep the thing afloat. The only people who use this service are lazy and apathetic. The people who deliver for them are equally lazy (which is why they participate in the gig culture to begin with). And the restaurants the food comes from makes nothing in return. I have no sympathy for everyone involved. Garbage in, Garbage Out. The system from the top to the bottom is completely and totally filled with trash. Trash customers, Trash restaurants and trash drivers. I don't feel sorry for the driver just looking to make a quick buck. It should be expected at this point. PSA: STOP USING THESE SHITTY SERVICES

They never turn a profit. However, cheap/poor people will still order and still not tip anything because that's how it is. Being a delivery driver and expecting that you get tipped on every single order is unrealistic fantasy land. Also the optics of you just assuming they are poor and shouldn't be ordering is incredibly bad taste.

Based on past data, they predict a certain amount of lost revenue due to reasons like these and then adjust for it. Point being that they don't count on anyone's honesty - they just estimate the number of liars.

There should be a feature where the delivery person has to enter the customers code to then be able to exchange food. And the only way the code can be seen is from the customer. So that way it’s to confirm that they got their food. Same as Uber rides. The passenger gotta tell the drive their code before they start the trip. This is a new feature that is really worth it.

@@HearMeLearn As someone who works as a software engineer, I would assume these companies have something in place to detect people abusing it and it wouldn't be complicated to set up a system in which customers get a code they have to give the driver to confirm they received the order within 5 minutes of the driver waiting.

@@Megratron6000 I do grubhub now, it’s an amazing service in my opinion and in my area the people tip very generously most of the time. It all depends on the market your delivering in; because postemates delivery where I live is horrible.
I'd bet money this was a no tip/ low tip offer. If you're pickier about the trips you take this doesn't happen. I actually tend to deliver to the same people frequently and they always tip well and the orders are always easy to complete

Same thing happened to me. I dropped off a persons milkshake and they chose “leave at door” so I had to take a photo for Confirmation. Few deliveries later I see the email that they didn’t get their order and I knew which one it was because of the milkshake. I contacted support and got it handled. Funny thing is the person even texted me “thanks” after receiving their food

I always make sure to get a thank you or some type of text message from the customer. There are some really terrible people out here that will lie in a heartbeat.

It hurts when you know customers don’t know what doordash or any other delivery drivers go through. I was delivery for uears and still sometimes do deliveries and it’s hard when you see people don’t appreciate what you do for them. Some of them don’t leave a tip. And I hope this driver gets a much better job and be appreciated for whatever service he will do!

That just goes without saying- but 95% of the time when you ask someone a direct (yes or no) question that should be very easy to answer and they “huh” looking like a deer in headlights you know they’re trying to think up a lie. Now obviously if you ask the person a complicated question, or a question that really does require more brain power to answer (like: “what were you doing last Saturday night around 10 O’clock?” then stalling for an answer isn’t a sign of anything. But something so simple like “did you get your food or not?” when you’re already having a discussion about said food, should be a very very easy answer but this lady reacted as if he asked her to answer a calculus equation on the spot lol.
And even then she couldn't think of anything

I don't have a body cam but I do have a camera in my car. So it will show that I collected the items then delivered it to the address. I installed it for insurance purposes but it would also show doordash that I in fact delivered them their items.
