Hey man i came here for the woodworking, but the terrible jokes made me a subscriber.
I've personally never seen a saw with an awl/scribe built in. That would be something I'll keep an eye out for, now that I know they existed.

I'm a blacksmith, and one of the main projects I trained with (and still do) is working larger round stock stock to a fine square bar with a very gentle taper across the length, sometimes playing with twists and such, makes a very good stele, awl, dagger, etc.
I keep my hair pretty long, so I currently use one which I'm particularly happy with as a hair pin
My uncle had an old Disston saw with the awl. It had this beautiful brass inlay into the handle. Unfortunately his spoiled kids practically gave it away in a yard sale before i could get to it. I've never seen one like it and probably never will again. I did get his planes though.
Im suddenly feeling Awlful...and I'm okay with that.
I have a bunch of awls I've picked up for metal and wood over the years but the several used most consistently are in my leather kit. There's an awlful place in everyone's life i suppose.

I use my awl very often. I bought it in one of those 'Dollar Shops' or a 'Pound Shop' as I am in the UK. I use it for all sorts of things, making holes, measuring the depth of holes, getting that screw you dropped from under the skirting board, marking lines and stirring things and scraping dirt off and well it goes on and on really.
This was a awl-full short. As a sailor I use them all the time to tie knots that need dressing tight and undoing loaded knots
Dap stick or pocket is what I used one for . Fit very well in the hand

We use those at work to move T-nuts in the woods so bolts can go in if drillings don’t line up.
At work (for scribing steel) we take TIG welding tungsten rods and sharpen them. Can use as is, or add tape for a more comfortable grip. Works very well, tungsten is incredibly hard and keeps its sharpness even on steel. I'd imagine they would work well on wood too

Having recently discovered a square awl, holy crap, I’m shocked how handy they are.
Fun fact, SPAX screws use the same 4 sided (square) shape to self drill a pilot hole. Most other screws just cut a slit in the side.
