I started giving my girl, Piper, the Orijen treats and we have now moved to the dry food. I love that their first five ingredients are Meat! She still doesn't eat any wet food but I will look for the Orijenwet. Thanks 😽
My cat loves the Orijen duck flavor. Great review
Ordered Orijen wet today 03/04/24 from Chewy. They had 3oz and 5.5 oz cans in at least 6 varieties.
Yayyy Finally hope my babies Love it as much as they like the dry
I hope so too! I also have a full transition guide here: ruclips.net/video/tTV0FSxDE-w/видео.html
My cat is doing great on it. He loves the Tuna, Salmon and Beef, lab/Lamb Liver, and Regional Red. We also give him Acana Beef Chicken and Tuna as well as a couple other recipies.
This food is super expensive though, probably the second most expensive in the store. Royal Canin seems to be the only brand that is more expensive.
Yes, I've been waiting for this, as they've had the wet dog food out for a while now! My "Pet Supplies Plus" has got it in stock now. They've got the "Original" and the "Duck and Chicken". I'll definitely be trying some out the next time I place an order. That's where I buy my Orijen dry from, they have the best price I've ever seen, always $5 cheaper than anywhere else, and sometimes have online coupons on top of that. Unfortunately the cans will only be a penny cheaper!! LOL. Oh, well!!!! So Yeaaaay, "ORIJEN FINALLY HAS WET"!!!!!😁😸🙀❤
Yes I was glad to see they finally have wet food too! Dogs always come first, unfortunately lol
Orijen website says that ingredients are either raw or fresh. I was curious if they process raw and not cook any of the ingredients but in your video you say it is cooked. How were you able to confirm that? Thanks for the video, just like you, I love the ingredients list. First wet cat food I've found where the label looks healthy.
Thank you soooo much for your videos, you provide a great service and you are very helpful!
Jerico looks like a stuffed toy! My very fussy Beast loves it! I can get it at Krisers and Pet Supplies Plus in Houston
Lol Jericho my lil teddy bear ♥️ glad you can find it easily!
I bought at Petco too. My 2 cats with suspected IBD really prefer a more smoother pate, but will eat some of it. I think they like the lamb & lamb liver. It could have more gravy, but I love the healthy ingredients.
I agree with you Jess abt using a variety of wet foods. I think Wellness Complete Health for cats changed their formula even though the company says no. My cats were eating this brand until I noticed they started to puke & have diarrhea after they ate it. Very unusual! Stopped using. Only using Wellness Core Turkey & Duck (pink label) and Digestive Health specifically for my 2 suspected IBD cats. I didnt take them to the vet yet. Would really like an holistic vet bc mine offers Hills and thinks nothing is wrong with it..?
The more I think abt it, raw might be the way to go bc cats outside eat small prey & not having to cook the bird first, lol. Baby steps till I get there esp bc I have a multi cat household want to get it right. Very confusing on what to use etc.
Thanks for the review! I also bought Acana's dry food. I actually thought it was freeze dried food. My cats seemed to like it, but its not grainfree and small print on the bag said 23% carbs! Way too much! Also it was alot of money $25/4lbs, crazy! So wont buy that again.
Yes variety is great for that exact reason! Raw can definitely help digestibility. But as you said, slow transition is best! (in every situation).
But yea with dry that's always the case. Carbs are necessary to keep that kibble shape.
My cat used to love this food, but after the manufacturing change to US, it no longer wanted it, had to switch and settled on Essence dry air and Gamefowl recipe , was hoping you had reviewed either their dry or wet food.
Hi What brand did you have today? I looking something for my kitten 5 months?
We don’t have this hete in Belgium😣
I'd love to hear your thoughts about the reformulation of Instinct wet!
I haven't heard of it. Which products?
@@jesscaticles all the flavors except for venison. They have a side by side of the old label and the new label on their website
How do you feel this compares to the tiki cat after-dark recipe? Should i make the switch or would this be an equal addition since variety is key.
I’m wandering the same. My cat only likes the Tiki pate which had gum in it. Orijen doesn’t use gums so switching would an improvement. The Tiki shredded varieties don’t gum in them, but they do have sun flower oil in rather than salmon or tuna oil so switching may be beneficial because of this. Buy 3 cans and give it a shot! I am!
If I were you I would buy both Orijen and Tiki Cat, then rotate between two brands. I feed my cats more than 10 different brands of wet cat food and so far they have not had any digestive issues. Variety is important because if a brand has a recall or shortage of supplies, you have many choices left for your cats.
@@laurenfromatlanta If you are not fond of gums, try RAWZ. Their pate cat food do not contain any gum.
Yay!!
Found 4 varieties at my local Feeders Pet Supply
This is exciting :) thanks Jess!
You're welcome!
I was wondering if you could send me a source about cats getting addicted to fish and how it causes picky eating? You got me curious about that one :)
Overall fish has a stronger scent than other proteins like chicken, turkey, etc. Cats are very sensitive to scents, so they are attracted to smelly food. A very simple experiment you can do is opening a can of tuna, your cats can go crazy over it since tuna is very fishy and smelly. When cats are used to strong scent food containing fish, they will be less likely to eat other food having fainter scents.
Pet Supplies Plus has it where I live.
Great! Thanks for letting us know!
I'll pick up some this week and let you know how the picky girls like it. The price is .66/Oz well within my budget 👏👏
Oh wow glad you did the math for that! Raw can be even cheaper than that!
How do you feel about the Orijen Mars company buyout deal? Would you reccomend switching to an alternate brand? It is supposed to go through in 2023.
Thanks!!
I would stay away personally. I’ve been feeding my cat Orijen for 9 years, and I loved it because it’s local (I live 30 minutes from Morinville, AB), but he started getting sick recently and my vet also stopped selling Orijen in part because of the Mars deal. This video is a good breakdown ruclips.net/video/kM_EIP-xgmM/видео.html
@@Adam-s2k6y wow, I'm so sorry! thanks so much!!
@@Adam-s2k6y interesting your vet stopped selling this meanwhile vets are known to sell hills, Royal canin and purina which are even worse brands
@@mirandaduffy4367 he doesn't sell those either except for the ones for a specific purpose, like urinary problems. Those brands are definitely worse for the most part, and shouldn't be used for daily feeding; only for a temporary medical issue.
Doesn't Too much fish cause Bladder problems?
My kitten loves their wet food, but he likes everything lol. Makes his poops stink even more though.
I just bought some. He ate it with other brand.
Nice!
My cat absolutely loves Orijen. I’m interested in dry cat food that you would recommend. I mix her wet and dry together. She doesn’t eat the dry( it’s a Merrick brand)
Give her only wet food
Do you think that Acana wet food is better than this brand or no?
Do you have neighborhood pet store? They usually carry the better brands and some brands (like instinct) only sell the top tier products to these stores. Mine in my area is called care a lot
yes I have some pet stores in the area that are focused on better quality brands including raw foods. But I am buying Jericho's food at the farmers market now. I'd love to do videos about natural, local pet stores but most of the time it is only that one location. So these videos would only be helpful to people that live in that area. And I have no idea where everyone lives 😹
Chewy has it now.
Do you think this is up there with Ziwi wet i started my new rescue on ziwi after watching your video but now im running into supply problems thank you for all your time and effort.
Check out my cat food reviews in this video: ruclips.net/video/eRtL3GGa4as/видео.html&t - the list is in the description, 100+ records of all types of food. Both brands are in that list along with many other options!
@MURZBOcan you provide an update after the MARS acquisition please? I read that someone’s cat stopped eating the Orijen dry food afterwards, but recently tried their wet food and loved it. I’m worried if they’re lying about the ingredients listed or if they just ran into issues when starting up in the US.
Would this food make my cat sick? Considering that is raw and she's not used to raw food. Thank you Jess.
No, introduced slowly.
What are your thoughts on the orijen lawsuit from 2018?? I just bought my cat a bunch of this food thinking it was one of the best brands out there but then I went down a rabbit hole on the whole lawsuit thing. I tried to find a conclusion but it was unclear. Do you know if orijen corrected the toxin levels if it in fact was an issue?
My cats never had problems with orijen and they love it!!! I’m curious though, what was the lawsuits about?
if I'm using a high quality freeze dried raw food (Feline Natural) and I hydrate it with water... and my chubby cat is still gaining weight or not losing the few pounds I want him to lose, should I just add more water to the same portion, diluting the food a bit? or should I switch to a different food (such as wet cat food for "indoor" or "weight management")?
Stick with freeze dried raw or transition to fresh, frozen raw. and watch this video: ruclips.net/video/pRttBkzuQxI/видео.html - you can skip to "cat weight loss plan" chapter.
My picky eater hates fish. All she’ll eat now is wholehearted weight control wet food 😔
I just took a quick glance at the chicken recipe product and it says there's fish in it? But it does not say the type- just "fish". Perhaps this can be contributing to the picky eating. Most cats are picky about food changes. In fact, this is the #1 complaint I get. So you are not alone (: Here is an entire playlist of everything you need to know: ruclips.net/video/tTV0FSxDE-w/видео.html - The first video is a complete guide on how to switch food, specifically formulated for picky cats. Next is my cat food reviews video which includes 100+ records of all types of food. And the remaining videos cover healthy treats, FAQ, and supporting help. I may have already sent this to you. Forgive me if I have. I get picky comments every day!
Should i not feed this because of all the synthetic vitamins n minerals ?
I'm not a nutritionist so please take this as just me, a typical human trying to make sense of it all....
It's true that a protein source like chicken has much-needed B vitamins, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, iron, and niacin. But what's missing? How do you fill in the gaps? We (humans) have a choice between eating a cup of broccoli (about 175 grams) to get the 92.8µg of vitamin K or taking a supplement. So, if you start doing the mental imagery math - how much sheer volume (more meat, veggies, fruits, etc) would we need to be in our cat's food to provide an equal amount of nutrients that are already here, but in a synthesized form? A natural source of a nutrient doesn't necessarily equate to that nutrient being more bio-available. Not being a chemist or a biologist, I have no idea if pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) is more or less bio-available than B6 obtained from chickpeas. But if our cats don't digest a whole food source effectively (such as veggies and fruits), and if it's shown that they need more than what can be provided by the cuts of meat and fish used in commercial cat food, it seems like this might be an acceptable trade-off.
I feed my cats twice a day. The first meal is wet food and at night I give them the oral care dry food.
Wow they don’t eat during the day at all?
Is this complete?
Yes please check the label it will say "formulated to be complete and balanced"
why is that cat not blinking
why is jericho just sitting there like that? 😹
Lol he's always gotta be near me. But sometimes doesn't like the camera so he gets fidgety.
Too bad they use farmed salmon.
