excellent review! yesterday I saw all the variants in person and first got the new seiko speedtimer 41 ice blue dial but ended up exchanging it for the blue dial. ice blue dial is beautiful but made it hard to see the white markers when there is low light. black is classic, panda is too daytonaish, blue is sharper and the sunburst dial is mesmerizing. totally agree with bruce. this is the most satisfying seiko i've seen in long time. timeless design, milled bracelet, solar, sapphire, looks and feels totally high quality. i have rolexes, cartier, chopard, citizen, casio. And
this one is one of my favorite - looks, function, feel, quality, and priced at level i can bring and wear at ease!

This is a stellar release by Seiko. I really like this version more than the one from last year in 39mm. I haven't had the chance to try this on the wrist, but the size, the hands, the white lume, the bezel, the spacing on the dial, basically all the things you mention just make this a winner over the previous release. I need to figure out when (versus other watch wants), but I want to pick one of these up at some point. Thanks for taking a look at all 3.

Great review Bruce. So good of you to direct compare the sizes which matters far more for a chronograph with 4 dials and not 1.
Execution of markers and handset is to me better on the 41, the bezel is better on the 39.
I had a GMT on my list for next watch but I can't take my eyes of that SBDL095

Great review, I initially tried the 39mm and was put off by the smaller 6 o,clock sub-dial. It’s a very attractive time piece but just a bit small. I spoke to people saying they should bring out a larger variant… my prayers were answered. D.V. I will acquire the SSC911P1 (panda) variant this year.

I’ve always liked the Speedtimers. The Panda being my favourite. The only gripe I have with Seiko is the bracelet to lug interface. From what I see, the lugs jut past the end link slightly and appears that the bracelet a generic style used over a variety of models and the interface is noticeably “off”. I know it’s a small detail however with the increasing price demand; I expect a bit more attention to the small details. Of course it won’t matter if I put it on a strap. I still love the watch.

So is the extra 2mm that the 41 gains over the smaller version gained purely by a larger bezel, or is it larger in other ways too? It would be good to know how they compare in terms of lug-to-lug size.
I'm so torn between the panda and pepsi versions anyways.

This is my favorite video about Seiko 911. Currently, I stay study about models of Seiko than not more similar of Daytona. And, your comment about proportionality of 41mm than 39mm is my same opinion. Not just about size, but the Seiko style for me is more present in the 41mm. The 39mm it's absolutely amazing, but, i feels like a Daytona (saytona for someones). I save your video for me remember and appreciate up to buy my 41mm.

  • @vegardvang519

I got the panda and it’s amazing. Haven’t taken it off one day since buying it over 1 month. Don’t mind the bracelet fit on the lugs. Don’t mind the bracelet in general and only two micro adjustments as i found a perfect fit for me. Don’t mind the 21mm. I love the watch and it’s an amazing daily wearer and that it is quartz so I can just pick it up and go. The 39mm as a chrono is too small for me. 41mm is perfect. And love that it got some lume worthy of the seiko. The silver white dial is a lot nicer for me than the white on the previous smaller version.

I bought this watch and I absolutely love it, but I have a question... Has anyone else noticed that the action on the upper "A" button has less of a "click" when you press it than the lower "B" button to reset the chrono? Obviously, it's nothing like an automatic watch where there is a very definite click, but in my case the upper button feels a bit "softer" than the lower button and while there is a subtle click, it's less than the lower button. Is this normal? Anyone else notice this?
