When you do more of these in the future can you try to show the crew areas? I think the crew mess and cabins are some of the most interesting parts of these boats ( don't get me wrong the bridge, engine rooms and technical spaces are exceeding cool!). Passenger areas are cool but showing how the crew lives on these boats is super interesting. Especially since they have to make do with so much less but usually spend more time on the boats than the owners ever do. Well that and the only way I'd ever exp any of these boats would be as crew so it's cool to see how they live on these boats. The areas they hide crew compartments on 40-60ish boats are amazing IMO. Like secret compartments on the boat you'd never know where there. lol.
I love the idea of a support yacht. I could have all types of toys on it, like an Icon A5, mini subs, cars, atv’s, tinders, speed boat, helicopter and anything else.
You need that stairmaster, because if you went up and down those stairs right next to them over and over, neighbouring observers would think you're crazy.

I did always wonder if this was a thing. Mega yachts are basically just portable private hotels and the more tours you see the less room they have for toys. This obviously fits with those that want to take their yacht away from the mooring and actually have fun. For me I'd prefer the support Yacht.
I started requiring that of my race crew and passengers in 2015. We would provision drinking water and require them to bring a water battle and tumbler for cocktails. So no red cups either. Thank You for supporting this cause.

I was most surprised that the support vessel does not carry extra fuel for the mothership. Instead of being overpowered with 4 huge engines, there should have been an additional 20,000 gal of boat juice... Just my thoughts...
Basically bringing super yachting into the upper middle class range. If u buy yacht in a tier u can rent bigger or smaller yacht from same corp in your tier level. 3 diff tier budget, luxury or premier class tier. Super yachts r premier class by definition. Mega yachts r class ultra on their own.
I know nothing about this stuff but when i heard support vessel i thought storage and crew. Food. Linens. Toilet paper. Seasonal stuff. Overflow of these supplies. And then room for a little bigger crew cabins so they could spread out a little. Possibly a medical bay and or quarantine area! Putting all that stuff on a support vessel would then free up more of the mega yacht for fancy stuff for the guests.
Thought this would be a vid on Chasing AWOL, then no, it's a new chaser on blocks at the show, then no, it's a super yacht to carry the chase and toys for a super yacht. the support vessels can store spare parts, provisions, and they can have tenders of their own. so yes they could be configured to store and treat sewage so it is safe to dispose of in the ocean or at a dock facility.
What a wonderful vessel! I think I'd prefer that to the super yacht if they had a chef. LOL I'm curious about the spray pattern from the bow cutting through the water. It seemed too turbulent. P.S: That was a shaky vid. Time for your videographer to invest in a gimbal stabilizer so we don't get seasick on land here.
If you have your super yacht and a support vessel you're going to need an additional ship a fuel carrier if your racing across oceans with the capability to do ship to ship replenishment lol.
This is a likely to be a multi charter yacht support vessel. A day or half a day with up to two charters at any time. Toys will be in the water when guests arrive. With this in mind a guest can charter a smaller charter and take a half day or several days with this support vessel. Several charters can transfer guests through a day and the charter can move off to make room for others.
As someone who never learned to swim, having a support boat follow would make me much more comfortable. I know in the worst case that the boat I was on sank, I'd just be floating in the water on a lifeboat or a life vest (swimming wouldn't come into play), but it would be nice to know I'd be picked up quickly--I don't like being in the water.
U rent the toys u want that don't fit in your yacht garage or hanger or on your deck like u rent the support vessels as needed & size needed. Some toys u own like jet ski or tiny tenders but off shore fishing vessel u rent as needed, or leave at your home ports diff trip diff passenger count.
Wow excellent video. Been searching a while about yatch world and recently discovered the suppourt vessels; off course i needed to know the inside design and working, and this video is just perfect for that. Any more information, or channel, or website to keep learning is wellcomed. Thanks again!!
Ok now my dad was a deckhand for over 26 years and he always ate too much when working, it's true, but they need it if you don't sleep well to keep going. Now I know why this boat is so fast 4 huge engines, damn. :) peace
I could see this boat as being an independent business and revenue stream. It could be subleased out to charter yachts like AWOL and others on a need basis. Not every one of your charters is going to want ALL the toys, some may be happy with just a few, and not want to pay for things not used, others may want the extreme vacation, and want some extra friends and family to enjoy it with them, then the support vessel is a perfect match. With more than one yacht using the same support vessel, with some scheduling creativity, you could make some serious money!

Hey Tristan how common are yacht charters and what parts of the world see the most charters. Also how common are they in the US in Florida and if you could give an average spending price for yacht charters what would it be. I live in the us and I’ve seen charters for 150000 a week but was wondering how many people might actually charter that vessel in Florida
Very impressive support vehicle, Captain. I’m wondering if you have made a decision as to whether you will be acquiring a support vessel for A W O L? I’m sure it would be quite an expensive acquisition, yet it will separate A W O L from its competition, for sure. Love your videos. Keep up the great work!...Ed
Hi Tristan. Has your yacht owner ever considered buying a princess yacht? Built in Plymouth england. Clearly the world is his oyster so to speak, fortunate. Well worth a look. Multiple models, varying in size, world class quality. Aquaholic is impartial, but i think he tends to favour princess. Just a thought. Take care.
Most ppl don't own helo & employ pilots they rent them in area they r at, same idea w/mass produced support vessels for pushing or side car work. Not many yachts can handle 2 chopper push prop cost & operation , but they save a ton moving ppl not boat to a fro. Rent them w/support vessel or when u need them as needed.
Super Yacht Captain, Do you know how crewing for such a vessels looks like? Is the shipyard offering positions together with the sale (I meant does the customer gets yacht together with the crew) or there is certain crewing office responsible for yacht support vessels by Damen? Thx for answers :) It would be great be nautical officer there ;)
Meanwhile Incat Crowther has produced a vessel called "Hodor" worth Googling. Is there any point of a support boat if you don't have your own hospital complete with decompression facilities?
Just this morning I was reading an article on the Hodor along with the photos, that is one amazing support vessel, I was thinking Tristan would love to have this vessel in his fleet.
I wonder what the operating costs are compared to a superyacht? So does the 10% rule apply to the support vessel as well? And what is the cost difference between operating a larger yacht which can store all toys on board compared to a somewhat smaller main yacht with an additional support vessel for the toys?
I wonder if one consideration for having a separate support vessel is safety - first you are taking those gasoline powered toys and huge lithium batteries and putting them off the $100M yacht where they could be a fire risk, and putting them on the deck of a more sturdy vessel. Also if there is a problem on the yacht, the support vessel could be right there to assist if they are transiting together. Lastly, it's a better tactical arrangement against pirates and other brigands.
That boat is unbelievable!!! 🤩🤯 Mr. Mortlock so this boat also carries guests, I thought the guests stay on the mothership as u would call it and they just meet up with the shadow boat? Or does this shadow boat also do it’s own charters? Or does this shadow boat only meet up with the mothership? Awesome awesome video though and love the channel keep up the amazing work! 4 engines that is quite impressive, but again I like the new hull w/rounded front tall axe for bad weather working ability higher front deck ht, PLUS my yachts in my world will hve a pushing support vessel or side car motor cycle design, so all the fire risk & noise is off loaded onto this working prt u mass produce, & the yacht itself just the fun pretty stuff maxing out useful prt per ft. All the cost & hasle & mechanical & supplying & resupplying & fueling is off loaded onto support vessel. The yacht owner doesn't hve to deal w/crewing or any of that cost except when using that prt right sized for distance speed & occasion. Owner just has to hve his req staff from house or houses w/him & his yacht from his own slip. Just enough engines to dock & maneuver, leaving all the boating & driving cost to the side car or pushing support vessel & all the boating head aches & cost & hassle. The support vessel along the journey can get swapped out so u hve crew that speaks & knows & lives in the area handling your yacht at all times for short time. These support push or side cars can b mass produced in common size & cost of yachting will b cut by 2/3rd easy may b more.
Love the info in this vid. Nice to see something the average dreamer could never expect to encounter. You said we could ask question so here goes..... Whats the seakeeping like on a vessel like this in rough Atlantic water? Would guests and/or support staff be comfortable on a long voyage? I see the range goes up to 75m.... what would be the largest/longest tender you could carry on the 7512? Thanks for taking the time
I too have often wondered about vessels such as these in rough weather, more specifically the "safety" of toys carried aboard the "Aft Deck" area with what seems to be rather a low freeboard. Have there been cases where rough seas have swept "toys" overboard...? With regards to the vessels' actual abilities to handle rough seas, it should be remembered that whole concept for such type of was pioneered primarily to cater for the needs of off- shore drilling platforms and as such had to be able to function in ALL weather conditions. "DAMEN" the Dutch shipyard were amongst the first to produce such vessels to service the "North Sea" platforms. Any sailor worth his salt, will confirm that "The North Sea"(the area between the northern part of The United Kingdom and Northern Europe including Scandinavia)is amongst the most treacherous stretches of ocean anywhere, notorious for the sudden development of huge storm systems including hurricane force winds. As far as "seakeeping" is concerned, I think that there is no need for concern, but for comfort of nervous passengers, prone to "Mal de Mer" such voyages might best be avoided..!!
