Well done Tristan. It's often difficult but ESSENTIAL that another senior member of the crew can manoeuvre the boat if something happens to you. I have seen this with my yachts in Mexico, the Med and with Captains allowing the First Officer to handle off the dock. how else will people learn? well done the Chief.
Great job captain training others onboard on close quarter manoeuvres and ship handling this is maturity in management and confidence in command...Hats up all the way. Well done C/Eng. and crew for excellent communications and team work. Great video Love it Keep them coming please.
Loved your docking and instruction to your Chief. Calm and slow like a pro. Which you are. I’m glad you’re back, as I can see what it’s like to dock one of these big shops. Mine is only 46 feet but I learn from you by just watching ! Thank you!
It's critically important, especially in ocean going, passage making yachts, that crew are cross trained to be able to fill in should any other crew member become disabled at sea. A wise captain knows this and makes sure that this training is accomplished, all senior crew should be comfortable handling the boat, the captain and possibly first mate are able to cover the engineer, and deck crew are rotated through the various positions on deck.
I love the technical stuff like this. Thanks so much for bringing us along! Edit: Getting merch from subscribers in a harbor in Spain is so boss. Damnit, that's so cool.
Fantastic to see training to the engineer,I have no boating experience but would it of been easier to use the left hand controls so you had eyes on the steamer yacht, loving your vlogs, keep them coming 😊
@@billybjingles4705 The chief was on the port side controls. Perhaps it may have been confusing to see the vid from Tristan’s perspective which tendered to be midships/ starboard because that was his free side. But the Chief was definitely port side. 🙏
Capt. Tristan, I noticed the two yachts to your port side have some letter flags out for display. Any chance getting someone, crew or yourself, to translate what there saying? I never miss an episode!
I’m guessing the boss is a a kiwi there to support Emirates Team New Zealand. 😂 Some of the racing has been amazing. Especially yesterday’s racing in the high winds and then thunderstorms. 😂 Come on Luna Rossa.
Its soooo stupid mate, You being back where you belong, your awesome content, hearing just that voice again. Its like running into a old mate after years and picking up just where you left. Glad you back on the yt's again Tristan! Ngl would be awesome seeing you as pauls counter on Loon :D or on this loon when they get the new yoke :D
A great video as always. Although it did end somewhat abruptly was that because you asked the engineer about his quayside assignation from last week, something the world is waiting for an update on, and he threw you overboard?
Hey, you got a helmsman! Nice! By the way, I was watching another channel TimBatSea (a tug captain operating on the US east coast) and he had a nice way of describing rotating motions on the boat. Instead of "port ahead, starboard astern" he would say "right twist" meaning the boat would rotate with the bow heading right. With a little practice, it becomes intuitive to move the throttle controls to twist left or right.
Again, a good and informative video. Nice to see that you tech others your skills aswell. If I may comment, a bit sudden end to the film... no outro.... that was new :)
No wonder the Navy has kids driving 2 billion dollar frigates. All the competent young men with extensive marine experience are super yacht captains, engineers and crews.
Just a quick question. Why do you have so many flags, and when do you change them and why? Really enjoy watching your videos even though I don't know what you are doing.
i was wondering does your current yacht control system work as good as the Volvo Penta TPS system or not, and are larger yachts moving over slowly to the Penta systen or are they not really suitable for larger vessels? Enjoying your content! o7
I wonder whether recording and publishing radio communications, especially those from other ships is something the MCA is fond of... Great video though! Thanks
Hey Cap, Did u happen to ever download pre/post departure check lists and any others, engineers etc, hopefully getting a position soon and it would help greatly! We were evacuated from our home in Florida as we were the worst hit, and after a month away and losing most everything, looking forward to a possible position and again your help w the above mentioned would be of great help! Also would love to meet at some point if u are ever in the west coast of Florida! Keep up the great videos!
3:54 what the name of the boat in front? i was watching america's cup on tv and i tried to search the vessel on marine traffic but i wasn't able to find it. Is anyone kind enough to explain me what i did wrong? I'm new to this world ;)
Hello sir i'm Mustafa from Türkiye i have 500 grosston yacht captain license. And i have 5-6 six months experince but not on yachts. So i want to work on yachts now. What advice would you give me and do you know anyone who needs officer.
@@lems18902 i learned how to dock a ship by a qualified instructor captain. I respect 100% captain Tristan but i would not let a crew member to train on a commercial vessel.

Good to see the engineer getting some driving time 😊
Well docked Chief, you have got a excellent teacher 🎉😊.
As a New Zealander its great to see out flag flying
Not a New Zealander, but I like seeing it, too. It means someone with a very unique view of the world is nearby.
Great job captain training others onboard on close quarter manoeuvres and ship handling this is maturity in management and confidence in command...Hats up all the way.

That classic yacht on your port side before you left is gorgeous.
Yes! Love her!
Well done team! Too many captains have too big of an ego to do that. RESPECT

The only way to learn is by doing it with a qualified and experienced person that is calm and providing clear directions. Nice work chief.
As New Zealander, love seeing our flag flying in Spain.
"Take all the time in the world", slow is pro!!
Can you talk a little about that crab maneuver you guys did? Also just general close quarters maneuvering would be cool to learn about.
A bit weird ending to the video :D
I’m sure he would have found that easier if on the port wing station. Good to see you training the engineer 👍
That way forwards that way backwords lol. You hard man Tristion

Thank you Captain for letting the next generation come up.
Fantastic job done by your chief engineer in docking the boat fantastic video as usual
great episode! Thanks for sharing! Stay safe captain, crew and passengers! 👍👍
Great video guys and well done Chief in very busy waters. You have a lovely boat next door
It ended abruptly, did he hit the dock? 😁 Looks like Port Control are kept busy with all the traffic. Interesting video, thanks.

You could just get like a Ring camera, mount it on the stern, and then view it on the ipad from the wing station
That would take all the fun out of talking on the radios!

Hi
Pretty good racing - you are lucky to actually see it. The weather looks okay.
nice old gentlemen's yacht to the port side there! how old is she any idea? Fair Lady built 1928 refit in 2023! very nice!
The next time I comment, I swear it won’t be about how much I love that bridge and wish it was my office.
It sure doesn’t hurt having the engineers docking the boat. Then they know what it takes if an emergency occurs topside.
That classic looking vessel next to you looks amazingly fabulous! Is there a chance you get invited, to do a tour? Would love to see that. :)
Well done Chief
I saw Espiritu Santo this morning in Marina Port Vell!!! Beautiful yacht!
Crab walking a 60'er is fun. I'd love to try it on something that size.
Well done, bravo

I was TimBatSea as well. Great channel!
I love TimBatSea, it's a great channel!
We are pretty good skippers us Engineers. During the 87 AC me and my skip shared duties out on the AC coarse on our 150ft cat.
Holly sh.. Tristan, with you always looks easy peasy😍
Thank you, informative video, much appreciated

Push those forward the boat goes that way LOL... too funny
Fantastic to see the NZ flag flying on the boat. Go the Kiwis! 🇳🇿😁
Tristan, you forgot to tell him where the brakes are 😅😅
No wonder the Navy has kids driving 2 billion dollar frigates. All the competent young men with extensive marine experience are super yacht captains, engineers and crews.
I think he earned an extra beer for that effort.
The more i watch the more i see how well Espírito Santo is constructed. What is the biggest difference between corporate and private ownership?
Did not know Jason Statham was working with You! 😅
Nice Video als always.
🦘🇦🇺Awesome teacher, great student Thank you Tristan. Great show of boatman’s ships. 🛥️🙏
Just a quick question. Why do you have so many flags, and when do you change them and why? Really enjoy watching your videos even though I don't know what you are doing.
Is this a Kiwi owned and Kiwi crewed boat?
Great to see the Kiwi flag flying on this sad day in New Zealand. Thank you.
yo Tristan, what up? Any update?
As you are a Brit Captain Tristion don't forget it was Merchant Navy day on the 3rd Sept 👍
bloody hell,much respect
This video is 3 weeks old! Update?? ❤❤
DID YOU QUIT POSTING VIDEO'S???😮😮😮

Sooooo! That's what an Engineer looks like! Good to know! 😁😁😁
Kids, there is a lesson to be learned. Don't let the little head do the thinking for the big head.
Another cool vid ….Question do you still own the Marmite car ???
As you always say, slow is pro

Where's part 2?? :D
Are the wood handrails varnished? Or some kind of composite material?
What happened been a couple weeks and we your viewers got left in the middle of the races. 😢
A lot going on here, you damm well better know what your doing that’s for sure.. 👍👍👍
Nice job guys, good to see the Kiwi flag flying 👍
I just bought a new Mac computer and need editing software, what would you recommend! I trust your judgement!
You ok? Have not seen a new video in ages?
Brilliant 👌😊✌️

Tristan how far ahead are you booking marina berths? Also how are you handling working in the med after Brexit?
Good job
Good video.... Abrupt ending. 🤷♂️
Nothing worse than an engineer that wants to be the captain lol
Just kidding not kidding. Good content mate
Hi Tristan
What's happening.
I see we are down to the Final Two ' go GB go
Need comment from out on the water
Been very quiet on your channel you ok? Or are you on vacation 👍

Vava 2
Always easy as an armchair qb. Not so much when it’s millions of dollars and people watching you. Good job
Is this now "The super yacht docking" channel?
Was that MY Fair Lady docked next to you ?
Can you fly this one « upstairs » ?
😂😂😂
So first he gets the girl and in the next episode he gets the boat...
😂
👍👌

Hi! Do you edit videos yourself or have you hired someone? I’m an editor and would love to discuss, if you’re interested
I don't know how you guys understand each other on the radio. It's unintelligible.
👍
Where did you disappear to? Get your ass fired by the owner?
.
I dont' think it's 100% correct. The captain should be "at helm" during ducking and leaving.
How else will anyone else learn?
Tristan is in control and close enough to take over if things go pear shaped you have to trust your crew when training them
Happens frequently regardless of ship how else do they learn and go through the ranks.
If that was the case…no one else in the world could ever become a Captain…because they would not know how to dock….

Six days ago in Livorno, whats up ...?
