  • Thank you for taking the time to watch this (quite long) video! In short, I explain how definitions of the Viking Age (and historical periods in general) are constructed by the people who study them. Why is it that the Viking Age starts and ends with events on the British Isles? Interested to know more? Keep watching :)
P.S - I am very close to getting monetized, I just need more watching hours. If you have the time, feel free to watch some more of my videos until the end :)

Hello Dawid, I am a retired university professor. While listening to you speak in this video, it became clear to me that you possess a very sharp and very articulate intellectual compass as well as a deep intellectual passion for your chosen field of inquiry. Both the compass and the passion will take you far. Also, I identify with your keen interest in learning several languages related to your studies and research. I did something similar in my own (very different) area of research. You have already attained impressive polyglot levels of linguistic proficiency. Congratulations. My best to you.

Thank you so much for the kind words, truly! It is exactly the purpose of my activity here on RUclips, to convey my knowledge and interest to others, perhaps even inspire young people such as myself to go and dive into their favourite topics as well. I am glad that I come across in this way :)

You are so clued in to the importance of research and historical investigation! Were I still teaching I would want to have you to come to my classes not only to explore your subject area with my students, but also to help them understand historiography and research. Well done, my friend!

Being able to understand original sources and also recognize the biases that those sources have is an incredible feat!! Kudos on your journey of learning!💛🤍💜🖤
