I love liminality and the aesthetic of decay... it's so common where I live, very industrial city, lots of factories, and there's something so heart-wrenching about finding a place that has It, the Feeling, I guess it could be nostalgia? There's a strange beauty there. You really captured a lot of it in your video
Incredible video, you deserve more attention. The connection to surrealism was very unexpected and interesting. Also, the aesthetic you fillmed in with the giant bear was very fitting. Thank you for your hard work and your art
My jaw dropped when I saw how few views this video has. It's a great video; it deserves way more views. I also found you through the video everyone else seems to have, but I've been really enjoying going through the rest of your videos. These will be videos I'll come back to again and again. Thank you for your work. Edit: typos 😑
"spaces that are built for large numbers of people that are completely empty" thats a pretty spot on description of a liminal space IMO. or what creates one.
Another great video, so well put together! How are you only at 12k? These are so professional, informative, and entertaining, I think you're going to inspire a lot of people. Thank you for taking the (probably copious amount of) time to make these videos, they're wonderful
Hey man! Found your channel through your video on the importance of real things (like pretty much everyone probably did) and I have to say that I am absolutely 100% a new fan. Your authentic expression of ideas is so personal, and the approach to your videos (multiple locations, camera angles, the humor littered throughout the script) is so special and distinct. It’s inspired me to maybe try out creating stuff on my own time, which I haven’t done in so long. Have a bodacious day!
"Found your channel through your video on the importance of real things (like pretty much everyone probably did)" It must be the most popular video of his.
This is such a fascinating topic! I had no idea that this was a thing. It reminds me of an exhibition I went to recently that showed the artwork of Daniel Lang. He explored similar ideas in his paintings, depicting spaces where people used to be, playing with color to show the effects of memory, hinting that things may not be as they appear... It's really cool to see a style of photography that explores similar concepts. I'd love to see a follow-up vid with the topics that you didn't get to include!
One of the best film videos I've seen in a long time. The way you combined all these elements and the presentation of this one is impeccable. Resinspired my approach to the short film I'm working on from pre-production to the actual way I want to shoot it.
Ted, I appreciate your effort in your videos. I’ve just watched a few and I’m really impressed, and your demeanor is so earnest. it’s like I’m listening to a friend or sibling explaining things in a way that makes it a joy to listen and learn. Keep it up!
i think it's really beautiful how buffalo has reclaimed a lot of previously abandoned industrial buildings and restored them while attempting to repair the ecological damage of their creation and usage. also the brutalist wasteland of UB's north campus feels so liminal you don't even need to find abandoned tunnels😭every building looks like you're the first one to walk through it in 50 years, especially during the summer when everyone has gone home
I don't think liminal photography/art can truly be defined, its hyper dependant on the viewer and their experiences and senses of nostalgia. What my be very liminal to me may not be to the next person, there is a deep feeling of comforting melancholy in a liminal photo to me, a feeling that I am returning to a place, but that I will never arrive, while feeling safe, but also lonely, like removing yourself from the present and returning to a past that has the features I remember but the people I knew then are all gone, they are still in the future. That is something that is hard to transfer between people, not impossible but very hard, which is why I don't think it will be a defined "style" of art.
You have a wonderful cat. I smoked a lot when when i had a big life change. I get what youre saying, i think. It was just something to do and deal with it, even if i guess it wasnt actual doing somwthing. I havent smoked in awhile, but seeing your video made me think back on that time in a bittersweet way. Good luck on the move.
Very refreshing idea of the liminality that you provided in the video. Is it possible if I can have please your digital notes, I would like to read it.

It upsets me that this doesn’t have more views. Your videos are so well crafted
