totally agree. I think Acura got greedy after seeing what Ford did to pricing on GT. Frankly its the only thing wrong with an Acura...the price

I've enjoyed watching and hearing the Corvettes at Le Man but this is so ugly - I guess Corvette have got Fifty years of how to style a mid engined car to catch up on.

I met him too in Manhattan beach where he does stand up comedy. Super friendly and outgoing, cracking jokes, taking pics. Lovable, humble guy.

I have always found that to be the case. I would never expect to get one for anything near $60K

Landers McCarty in Huntsville Alabama ... is telling me they will not be able to get me one just the stingrays for less than 89500.. I told them that mark up is nonsense. What can I expect I was going to by a Camaro 2ss with the track pack in black the window stick was 42k to even start they gave me a price of 61k nope not them... I'll go to nashville or Birmingham. First.

I think the Mustang would be America's most iconic car tbh. But Corvette is giving it a run for its money now. Chevy is killing it. ZR2, new Silverado, new HD, Buicks are looking good, etc. And I think the new Sierra is the best looking '19 truck.

It's definitely the Mustang. It started the Pony Car Revolution and it's a great seller that has been produced every year since its inception in 1964. The mid 70's however were terrible for the Mustang, but all cars were terrible by the big three then.
I'm a Ford guy so the GT is my choice of car when buying a mid engine but I have to say GM did a hell of a job on this and starting at 60k! For a twin clutch super car! That's just awesome. GM I give you props especially for keeping a V8 in the car.
It's nuts, this just feels a big of a bomb as when the US dropped two show stoppers over Japan.... Plus this guy might be going there since it'll be available in RHD. Watch out GTR and NSX.
Problem is the GT is 500000 dollars and you cant buy one.
Russ mt And it has 3.5 littler V6 that that came from Ford sedans. They didn’t even have the guts to increase the block size and they charge 500k. Now they have a track only GT that you can’t drive on the road that actually makes 700hp buy it will cost 1.2 million. The only way to test drive one is on Fronza on XBOX 🤣🤣🤣
Ford GT is "your choice of car"? What? You will never have one buddy, they only sell them to very particular people and at 500k for a TTV6.... You could get this mid-engine vette for 1/8 of a ford gt, and get even better performance by just installing a supercharger on the thing.

It looks a lot like the Ford GT at a fraction of the price. I wish Ford would build a cheaper version of the Ford GT that many can afford but this car here is definitely a winner. It will the 2nd American supercar in less than 2 years and they will sell a ton of these. Tell me Americans can't build supercars.

I built show cars for electronic manufacturers for 35 years. I have driven, torn apart and redesigned just about everything ever made. And although we can’t bring back any of my beloved microbuses. I can assure you that the C8 bargain is going to continue to blow the minds of buyers once they drive down the road and start comparing what else they could have bought for this price range.

I can’t wait to see the Z06 and ZR1. I know a lot of people aren’t big on it, but they’re still making the C7. The ZR1 and even Z06 will probably rival the 458, 570s, and GT3 for a little less money

From a European piont of view, if they have good build quality and the suspension dynamics about right at that price they are going to sell by the truck load. There will also be a massive aftermarket industry built up around this truly stunning looking American sports car
I'm eyeing swapping my Porsche for one of these...the one thing I want is that engine...finally in the right spot. While I love my porsche, those GM blocks are put into everything imaginable because they are dead reliable and you can add SO much reliable horsepower out of them.
I am also from Europe. If this thing would be made in Europe, it would have a ludicrously short manufacturers warranty, would be wholly unreliable, and would cost 300 to 500 % as much as the '20 'Vette Stingray would cost. But hey, it would be a Euro-car, yeah. That fact alone is worth any price surcharge and ownership inconvenience, no?
Frank Farago would be over complicated from a mechanical point of view. Also made of exotic (read expensive) materials. Not the way Americans waist their time

Actually, luggage space is pretty useful if your sports car is also your daily driver. I had a ‘97 Supra Turbo which I daily drove for 16 years, and it had about 25 cubic feet of space with the seats down. More if you were willing to drive around with the hatch held down with bungee cord. I moved some furniture that way.

I would have more of need for the Tesla, and the vette would be something I Would look to as a weekend driver.
Even if the vette was faster, which it is faster than the model 3.... the speed isn’t as much of a requirement on a day to day basis as the other factors.

Lets wait to see reliability issues on first year production. Mine and 2 of my friends got rid of our Z06s due to quality issues. Mine actually sat at the dealership garage more than my house.

@Devil’s Advocate You can't order this direct from Chevy without going through a dealer, but you're right, eventually, the supply will catch up with demand. However, I would imagine for the first 6 -12 months demand is going to be high. For those who have to have the first ones, they are going to pay the full price plus a little I imagine. After a year, dealers will be discounting them. I know for the basic C7's dealers have been stuck with way more than they can sell and there have been some great deals. It will be interesting to see if demand goes up or down after this release, for those remaining C7's in the supply chain. Personally, I think it's going to be hard to get rid of the basic C7's without a huge discount. Time will tell.

@@cafe80s Stripped down and simple? Especially technologically? Not to mention downgraded in looks from the previous generation.. I do agree in some ways, the whole complex, ultra-high tech AWD drivetrain and high curb weight that came with the NSX didn't seem right for the "Purist" NSX namesake. Should've been a bit more raw and drawn more aesthetically from its predecessors. The newer NSX was very unique though if you were willing to look the other way from the Purist roots, and it was way ahead of its time technologically. And all that tech costs $$. The sub-60k price tag for the Vette was surprising, but overall it's a bit disappointing and lackluster amongst its fleet. It won't be easy to drive like the NSX, and it won't compare to other current Midship RWD supercars in the corners. But then again, that's never been the Vette's forte and it has always prided itself as an affordable alternative. We'll see when they drop a ZR-1 type track-oriented poster car version in the upcoming years though..

I guarantee that 2-golf bag sized trunk was a requirement for the design team, given the target demographic.

Tryksta 724 well it's a Chevrolet, so it's really never going to be anything amazing. The corvette had its day. I think what they should've done instead of succumbing to the layout of lambos, ferarris, mclarens and the like is gone for a retro approach to the design similar to what the challenger, Camaro and mustang did about 10 years ago now. They'll still have their target demographic covered and won't have the shameful attempt at a complete overhaul tainting the corvette name. Everyone already knows the best corvettes have already been made so there's no shame in reaching into history for design ideas.
@@lKingRichardl We've seen mixes of that with some concept vehicles (the one used in TransFormers comes to mind with the rear split window), but I agree. These are looking too exotic now almost indistinguishable from Ferraris.

Matty D they aren't, Chevy dealers will mark it up 20k at least. Plus you'll need to add on packages. It's a 90-100k car when it's all said and done. Z06 will assuredly be over $100k
keelay the z06 is a whole different car. I think the base corvette shown in the video is maxed out at 70k with options. Still the best bang for buck. Anything under 150k

Conor I think you’re being hyperbolic. It’s definitely not as fast as it’s competitors but it’s the only naturally aspirated option. So if you prefer a more Motorsport feel, it’s great. Although it’s worth noting the RCF is build on the last gen IS platform. So I personally think the GSF is a much better representation of Lexus’ F performance cars. But to call either of them “obscenely slow” is objectively unfair.
What a beautiful automobile! Can’t ever replace the classic look. But I can see why they’ve made this modern marvel. One day.

I assume, if one desires, they can go to a dealer and order a car with NO OPTIONS that will sticker for under 60k. However, I imagine the delivery time for that car will be mid-2020. There will be a price increase for the 2021 model year, along with improvements, and most likely more engine options, GrandSport, Z06, etc. and that's all good. I can't wait to see the GrandSport equivalent of this car. I know it will be around 100k with the desirable options, but it should be great.

At least my dad got to see this before he passed away in October of 2019. He was a proud C5 owner and loved the Corvettes. He was really impressed with the C8. He said it can now compete with the modern European cars now.

Or just turbos. Seeing this view makes me think that trunk space, plus a nice, large and potentially moddable rear deck/cover could make custom versions a lot of fun.

There was a time where dual clutch transmissions were more common, but it seems like all the new affordable cars have gone back to torque converter+planetary gear setup, like a 4-speed, just with more gears (that's what Jay means) or CVT.

Just to be clear, the 0-60 time is for the C8 equipped WITH the Z51 performance package and NOT the base C8 Vette. The "basic" base model starts under $60k, add Z51 and you'll be mid to high $60's.
Just wanted clear that up so you're not blindsided with this info.

NSX is still a great car, their only flaw was the lack of weight reduction. Losing maybe a few hundred lbs would've made it an excellent car.

Chevy builds some insanely good stuff for an obtainable price. VW has been trash for decades and Mercedes is a joke. This generation, as the Corvette has been for roughly 50-60 years, will continue to stomp the European car companies into the dirt. Hell, there is a reason why they constantly whine about Corvette in LeMans. Ferrari, Porsche and Ford can't compete.

C3 - oh man that nose and those fenders, sexy!
C4 - one of the iconic sportscar of the 80s
C5 - very nice 90s ride which can keep up with it european rivals
C6 - a very nice update to the c5 and in much ways better than its predecessor
C7 - Man, what a georgeus car! Classic lines in modern way

med8tor1 no the 1963 C2 Corvette is their best car yet. There is a reason there values always climb. Go look at the C6 or C7 they will never appreciate in value same with this model. At a $60,000 price point I am betting they cut corners with some aspect of this car. We have no test drives or breakdowns of the design yet. The interior of this car does not look good. I am sure Corvette lover will disagree with me. The interior looks like a gamer designed it. Compare this to a Ferrari interior and there is no comparison.

Thumbobby Thumbobby best design and creative influence are important factors to me.. Design and collectibility out weights going 0-60 the fastest. All my vintage cars and motorcycles are blast to dive and handle very well with their manual transmissions and they are worth more than what I have paid for them. I owe the bank nothing and have zero car loans. I can sell any of the motor vehicles and step up into a more collectible vehicle. The insurance through Hagerty is very reasonable on collector cars.. I keep them maintained and do a lot of the work myself. A certain Ferrari is my next purchase so no these cars might not handle as well or have air bags etc but they give me more enjoyment than new cars. I love the 1963 split back and all the C2’s but after that the Corvette’s design has been a big let down. You can see a small increase in value the the C3’s and C5’s but nothing like the C1’s and C2’s. Buying a Corvette is one of personal choice and each person has their own opinion of them and find their values differently. I have seen the detailed pictures of this new cars interior and to me it does not look stylish to me. Looks like it was designed by a gamer. Going to mid engine was the right move. I will have to see if I begin to like this new car. If a lot of cars are produced I don’t see them holding their value.
