    Thank you Dan. I know it is not an easy 5 minute thing to make a video and upload it so thanks for taking the time. For those of you reading this comment, I was the one who asked Dan for this demo. And the next day it was here. Dan's videos have been the one of the information hubs for my own Jerry set up. He has also graciously answered my questions. And may I say, a very good player. Dan if I ever visit PA (from Long Island), I will look to see if you are paying anywhere and check out your awesome band. Keep it up and thanks again. I have been in touch with Brian and will be adding this to my pedal board. Oh and with headphones the audio was fine. Loud and clear.

    Worth reading the manual before doing a demo - I say this only because the 'More Air' toggle only works on the second channel - and correct me if I'm wrong, but you were flipping the toggle back and forth at around 4:25 to hear the difference... but if channel 1 was only on, there would be none to be heard.

    Brian just called me to tell me my pedal is ready and I am super excited. Just checking in to see what you are thinking of it a year later and if you think it is in fact far superior to the actual Alembic Stratoblaster?

    • @DeadHeadDan
      @DeadHeadDan  2 года назад

      Oh yeah man it’s great! I recently got a wolf guitar and that has a Waldo buffer in it, so no need for a blaster with that guitar, but for the Strat stuff, totally!

      @@DeadHeadDan Where did you get your Wolf from? Your playing is pretty immaculate Dan so it must really shine with the Wolf. I am kinda weird about Strats and only playing one guitar so I guess I am kind of stuck going the long route and that Thick Air pedal is amazing. Were you playing direct in without any other effects or drive in this video? I have a Milkman 50 enroute right now too. The combination of that and the Thick Air should get me most of the way. I have also been working with Kent Armstrong about having him make some pickups. I tried to reach out to Allen but you can imagine how that went. Thanks very much for your reply.

    Hey Dan. Just got the word from Brian that my "Thick Air" is shipping tomorrow and ironically this coinsides perfectly with a pedal board rebuild/refresh. I was hoping you might have some feedback on pedal chain for the Thick Air . This is my proposed setup:
    Strat->Strobostomp->Quartermaster 8->JHS Muffaletta Fuzz-> (Thick Air)->Strymon Sunset->Archer IKon->Mu-Tron Micro IV->Deja-Vibe->Strymon El Cap--->Milkman 50W....
    Obviously, the "Thick Air" is proposed as second in the actual pedal chain only after Fuzz. Just wondering about your thoughts on this chain and if you think it is the best place for the Thick Air???
    Thanks very much Dan.
    -Gareth

    • @DeadHeadDan
      @DeadHeadDan  2 года назад

      Well, it all depends on your volume structure out of the guitar! I had my thick air in my demo at the end of the chain to “thicken up” the sound of everything. Otherwise if you think about it as a stratoblaster, you’d want that before everything else. The key to tone in my opinion, is having your guitar volume at 4 or 5, and let your blaster/buffer/preamp to do the heavy lifting.

    • @garethmurphy8235
      @garethmurphy8235 2 года назад +1

      @@DeadHeadDan well you are certain getting good results Dan so I will absolutely consider your advic. My guess is the Thick Air is about as close to an "always on" pedal as you can get. I also think if it is always on then it is going to stack and hopefully round out the sounds of everything if it is at the end or the begining, albeit slightly different ly

    • @DeadHeadDan
      @DeadHeadDan  2 года назад

      @@garethmurphy8235 yeah I’d say always on. So either beginning or end for sure, but experiment. Gear always takes a long time to dial in at various room settings. I like it at the end but try it out man! Have fun!

      @@DeadHeadDan Holy Sh!t Dan. Had my "Thick Air" for a few weeks now and it is just absolutely incredible. I have had a lot of pedals through the years (as we all have), but I have never plugged in a pedal and it immediately made my sound so much closer to what I have been hearing in my head for years. Just incredible. Truly amazing.. I mean just a jaw dropping difference. Anyway... I have a chance to buy a set of Allen 69's and I know you had a set in your Strat. I wanted to get your opinion on if you think it was an integral part of getting closer to the Jerry sound and buying them is a no brainer ??

    • @DeadHeadDan
      @DeadHeadDan  2 года назад

      @@garethmurphy8235 glad you like the thick air! I do really like the voodoo 69. In fact, my wolf guitar came with a set of single coils, and they are the voodoo 69s. However, if you want a 72 sound, you’d want a set of alnico 3s, the voodoos are alnico 5. A little brighter.. but they sound good either way! I think maybe 74 Jerry had the brighter alnico 5s

    • @kbbl102.5
      @kbbl102.5 4 года назад

      @@DeadHeadDan me neither, I adjust everything to my volume knob being at 7 and tones at 8. I'm running D Allen Voodoo 69 which is supposed to be THE affordable pickup set for Alligator tones... I'm getting close, and I bet a lot of it is in Garcias fingers and touch, but I cant get it quite "airy" enough of that makes sense. Jerry's Mutron sounds like a puppy that wants to play, I'm sounding too snarly... I have the boost off and the gain set as low as I can get it while still forcing the envelope open at a good peak level.
