Ya agree. There is a movie called the wrestler, it’s about An old broken down wrestler. The whole entire movie plays out like this scene. I think you would enjoy it.
I love how Rocky is such a good guy to Paulie. Wakes up early prepares his breakfast, goes into Paulie’s room and cleans up after him. He truly loved the guy despite all his faults.
Family... Friends... Paulie was, is, will be part of his life. I mean when you love people you accept them the way they are, sometimes we try to improve them, sometimes they improve us... It's a long journey. Sorry for my english maybe is not so good.
I remember once watching an interview with Sly about the scene in "Rocky" where he tells Adrian that he can't beat Apollo and that all he wants to do is go the distance. The director (I think it was) didn't want to take the extra time to do the scene or something but Sly insisted on it as it was pivotal to the story, which I believe it absolutely was. Can you imagine if they'd deleted that one?
I disagree here, and I’m sorry but felt the need to reply. Rocky loves and loved Paulie for all his faults but because he was Adrian’s brother. I guess he liked Paulie, even in the early part of the story but the connection (and even burden) he felt for Paulie was through his love for Adrian. It’s a fantastic story that the boxing mix just rode the bigger picture through... A lifelong classic epilogue that just keeps on giving and a true lesson in life and love
Rocky Is a true friend to Paulie, Rocky can take care of Him, But he should Let Paulie Do his Own Laundry & His own breakfast once in a while since he's a grown man too.
A really great movie and i think Stallone should have been nominated for an Oscar for it. In the emotional scenes you can tell he's really giving it all, he's an underrated dramatic actor.
1DNETTA really wow! I didn’t know that.. especially the background story from where he started from nothing and was at his lowest and desperate and came up with rocky! Listening to his story about it is truly inspiring and courageous unlike these other dipshit actors that was handed to them on a silver platter.. sly and Arnold actually worked really hard to get where they are today and one of the most recognized actors in Hollywood..
UNBELIEVABLE! I saw the movie and this is the best scene. Amazing what they will edit out. The scene is funny, human, and says more about the character than any single piece of dialogue. Well acted, too.
Let me tell you a little story about acting. I was doing this Showtime movie, Hot Ice with Anne Archer, never once touched my per diem. I'd go to Craft Service, get some raw veggies, bacon, Cup-A-Soup... baby, I got a stew going. - Carl Weathers
@Perceptible I'm going to assume yours is a sincere question to which I'll give you a sincere answer, rather than a snarky one. One of Rocky's iconic practices from the original film was his exuberant drinking of raw eggs. What we see in this scene is that, for this older man with less brioso, the practice is now gut churning. A comic reference back to a comic bit that was quirky and delightful.
This scene perfectly illustrates Rockys persona. Kind caring and conflicted with the past. So many human qualities on display. It has real depth and love.
+Dylan Markovic Sitas it's because Carl weathers ( Apollo creed actor)refused to let Stallone use his face in this movie due to the conflict that he want money for it
I wish Stallone was 20 yo again to do it all again. We will never ever see a guy like this ever again...absolute genius when you think about it, so may different characters and yet still looks like he could have hung with the pros when it comes to boxing.....LEGEND
It shows that Rocky's got heart. As Paulie said in Rocky 4, "I wanna tell you some things I never told you. I know sometimes I act stupid and say stupid things, but you kept me around, and other people woulda said, 'Drop dead, bum.' But you give me respect. You know, it's hard for me to say these kinda things, because that ain't my way, but if I could just unzip myself and step out and be someone else, I wanna be you. You're all heart, Rock."
I really love Rocky's character. I wanted him as a friend drinking beers, discussing our problems or whatever. A friend that can trust even better than your brother
If you’re wondering why the photo with Paulie’s face taped over Rocky’s has Apollo’s face blurred out, Carl Weathers refused to allow any images or video of him to be shown in the film because he demanded to have an actual role in the film. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was part of why this scene was cut.
@@Old-Dog00 Exactly. Burgess Meredith's "Mickey" character was killed off in Rocky III, and yet he appeared 8 years later, in Rocky V, with new footage shot and presented as a flashback.

@ Greg Mottola. The reason Apollo’s face is blurred is because Carl Weathers refused to have his likeness portrayed in the movie. I read he wanted a role in this, probably much like Mickey’s role in Rocky 5 and the producers refused.

There is this endearing poignancy to Stallone's Balboa that one rarely sees in most movies these days. For is there another movie character as enduring, as beloved and as jauntily imitated as Rocky Balboa (Yoda?)? Gotta love the guy. Balboa is definitely deeply woven into the fabric of American cultural history, amazingly and fittingly and endearingly so. He's THE MAN!!
the rocky films are getting better by the age. i think they are even better today then they were back then. this is really good character building, charisma likeable characters who make you think even after you have watched the film.

According to Stallone, Carl Weathers does not appear in the film because Weathers wanted a role in the film, even though his character Apollo Creed had died in Rocky IV (1985); Stallone refused, so Weathers refused to grant Stallone permission to use archive footage of him. The brief clip of the fight between Rocky and Apollo was recreated using a body double.
