this always makes me tear up because Rocky has tried so hard tokeep his emotions buried. it shows how human he is. I never saw my father cry once until grandpa and grandma passed on from old age, he broke down during his speech at grandmas funeral service and the first time seeing him cry? He tried so hard to mask his emotional pain but he stepped down and my mom finished his speech for him. Dad introduced me to the rocky movies when I was a kid, little did i know back then that he struggled with alcohol, he never was abusive or lashed out in anger when having a few beers. but i still remember to this day when i got into drinking, and a friend and i were watching the rocky movies in my room and we were socially drinking(way before the rocky balboa movie of course or the creed movies. and i was drunk and my dad came in my room because he heard we were watching rocky 2 and he went on and on as we were watching... and i told him to shut up that we were trying to watch the movie and i still remember to this day how rejected his face was.... then my drinking progressed to the point of downing straight vodka, and mom and dad tried hard to have hope... Dad and I went to see Rocky Balboa in theaters, his treat, to try and show me there was more in life then booze, i remember when we both were cheering when rocky was beating the crap out dixon the current champ, everyone was in the theater lol. But I loved how rocky did not win due to split decision but he was able to walk away with his pride knowing even though he lost, he still had heart to fight one more time. now? i watch rocky when drinking and i can see how my dad was huge into the rocky movies. i hope someone i can ask his and moms forgiveness for my recklessness when i was blacked out drunk and attacked dad.... so if anyone reads this? please pray for me to seek forgiveness because i have not seen my parents since 2016, they moved away, mom made sure i was not able to message her on facebook, so i pray for help before.... they pass away.... my other grandma passed away while i was not around back in 2019. Found out she died from cancer and i was so distraught because i was hoping to see her again someday, but then... in the afterlife I will see her again.
Honorable men's in this world are never to been seen and Rocky represents them here in this movie. I am just like Rocky and the good people see it saying you are like Rocky and then I smile 😄 but the people who only have greed lust and who take things for granted don't care they keep humiliating and always want to be on top and stand on other people.. Thanks Sylvester for representing us in the movie as the Rocky character 💪🏽
First Mickey Then Apollo Then Adrian Then Paulie Then Duke Now Spider Rico Poor Rocky, he had to watch so many of the people he loved die. I’m glad he still has his son though
I love you Rock. You're the man I try to be. A great inspiration to others. Thank you for making this movie Sly. I've struggled in life, like you/Rock struggled in the ring. I too have lost everyone. I share his pain. I'm 54, still young but old enough to know, it's all over for me. I am not a religious man. So I don't and won't lean on God for help. Instead I curse it for the pain it gave me for all of these years because I kept moving forward.. I took the pain. I got back up. But I gain absolutely nothing from any of the battles, struggles, heartbreaks, or losses. Today, I live alone. No children. No love. And probably going to lose all I have because I cannot fight anymore. So I wonder where I'll be soon. Hopefully like you, I'll make it. You're a Hellova guy. Hellova friend. And Hellova father. Everyone's proud of you. I hope I see you wherever we're going when we all get there at the end. 😇 🥊🥊
the saddest thing about being a survivor you outlast everyone in your life enemy's family and friends everyone you love until it's just you and you have become a walking ghost to your past and it hurts.
Good lord this just gutted me lol smh. Full on tears like the first time I saw the Mickey scene from Rocky 5. Why in the world would they cut this out. So much about the Rocky and Creed franchise is predicated on the nostalgia and honoring the past. If Spider Rico was important enough to bring back in Rocky Balboa, why would something as important as his death be cut out. What killed me was the line "In the ring, you got rules. Outside, in the street, you got nothing". Oh good lord I didnt need this today. I am going through a lot in life right now. This feels like the universe telling me "I'm still observing, take your time".
In some way , even the names Rico n Rocky mirror each other, and maybe this is a glimpse into Rocky’s alternate future, if he’d never got that shot from Apollo..
If he had been called Rico instead of Rocky his future would have been grim, Adrian would have left him, Robert moved on with his life and he would have died alone with only 3 dudes showing up to his funeral.
I swear Stallone has this ability that he doesn't need music to sound credible and hit your emotions. Lots of actors need the music in order to make the scenes work, Sly just needs to say the lines and it works the same way.
Nothing in this world hits you harder than life itself; but on the other side of things, it's the people you meet along the way, for both good and bad makes the journey of life kind of something to look forward to; and that's coming from someone who has kissed his youthful years behind (and I know that there are some people who would say being in your very early forties is still considered being "young" so I technically shouldn't be saying anything, but still if I think about it in the next eight years from now I would be fifty years old; which again whether you think that is a good thing or a bad thing, being alive for half a century would be quite a milestone). So I guess my point would be even if life beats you down at your lowest points; there is always going to be someone somewhere to give you that little bit of encouragement to solider through no matter what life throws at you. "It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you get hit, and keep getting back up." Rocky Balboa.
I think this scene would’ve worked better in the first creed movie, it plays into Rocky feeling like a stranger now that everyone he knew from the originals is now gone

One tragedy after another for Rocky
WOW I just came across this never knew Spider Rico had passed away as well this just broke me down 😢😢😢😢😢😢
How was this deleted? This is a great scene.
These deleted scenes are gold. Jesus.
Life is like this, at times.
bro watching all his homies go one by one,i would have called it quit it if i didnt have a son like him
Honorable men's in this world are never to been seen and Rocky represents them here in this movie.
My god, Sly is getting old. I remember when he was the hero of my prime during the magic '80s.
Time flies.
Why the hell wasn't that in the movie. It's beautiful and it explains a lot of Rocky's actions in the movie.
Rocky is a true warrior and an honorable guy. Respect!
Such a sad scene, gutted to have seen it be deleted from the movies. It should definitely have been in the movie.
First Mickey
Then Apollo
Then Adrian
Then Paulie
Then Duke
Now Spider Rico
Poor Rocky, he had to watch so many of the people he loved die. I’m glad he still has his son though
This scene was on the special features of the blu-ray. It didn't have the music tho which makes a huge difference
That would make him 60 years old when he fought Rocky in the 70s. Continuity no Bueno.
The man where it all began spider Rico, rocky balboa first opponent
I always thought spider rico was a philly rican never knew he was a drifter from out west 😢😢😢. Rip Spider you’re in a better place 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
They should never have cut this scene!!!!!
This is canon as far as I'm concerned.
02:25-02:40 is where it really hurts and it’s reality for a lot of people
Well with Rocky (Creed)5000, Creed is gonna give a Eulogy for Him. God bless you Mr. Stallone🙏
the saddest thing about being a survivor you outlast everyone in your life enemy's family and friends everyone you love until it's just you and you have become a walking ghost to your past and it hurts.
"Spider Rico? Is he still around?"
“Oh yeah he’s doing really good”
Good lord this just gutted me lol smh.
“The older we get the more we leave behind”
In some way , even the names Rico n Rocky mirror each other, and maybe this is a glimpse into Rocky’s alternate future, if he’d never got that shot from Apollo..
If he had been called Rico instead of Rocky his future would have been grim, Adrian would have left him, Robert moved on with his life and he would have died alone with only 3 dudes showing up to his funeral.
Mickey gone, Apollo gone, Adrian gone, Duke gone, Paulie gone, now spider Rico. He really only has 2 people left. Adonis Creed and his son Rocky JR
You can't forget yo butkus and punchy....
I swear Stallone has this ability that he doesn't need music to sound credible and hit your emotions. Lots of actors need the music in order to make the scenes work, Sly just needs to say the lines and it works the same way.
Since Rocky mentions the desert, is this the reason why he took Creed to the desert to train in this movie? That makes much more sense now.
Where fighters go to be reborn…
So heartbreaking 💔 😭😭😭
Must be sad to grow older and outlive everyone around you.
It’s so dumb how this isn’t in the movie. Spider will be remembered.
