"I miss my sister, Rocko...." She misses you too, Paulie. No matter what happened, you're still her brother and you're still Rocky's crazy best friend. We love and miss you, Paulie.
Yeah tailedgates9 is right Paulie your sister know that you have a great heart and she's in heaven rocky is be with you no matter what your not alone you have a family ❤️
@@BStant23 *All* the Rocky films have been emotional like this. There's always at least one highly emotional scene in each. A shame this one was cut out.
"Now you're all I have, and you never let me down, and I treat you bad too. Why do I do that, Rocko?" very good example of what depression can do to someone. I wish they left this in the movie
Anger > all other emotions Anger issues leads to regrets. Constantly living with regret and sadness can lead to depression. Be depressed makes everything seem hopeless and pointless. A vicious cycle to be in.
This is so relatable. I know that they have to cut somewhere, but I also think they should've left this part in the movie. Rocky is more than a sports drama. It's a movie about life.
Paulie has been a part of this since the beginning. Removing this scene was as disprectful as it is cruel. He deserves his respect in this scene. Bummer
I think there are versions with this scene in it but I'm not 100% sure. I think after people started showing it a lot of love so in later DVD versions they out it in. I know for a fact I've seen it in a version before e
Agreed, especially since in the final draft, they cut straight from Paulie flipping out over losing his job to him calmly telling Rocky that he has a lot of guts to get back in the ring, but he's going to do fine. There's like no transition from Paulie getting belligerent to Paulie being calm. It may be a little nitpick, but it is distracting.
1:23, that's fucking beautiful. Honest fucking truth, Burt Young had me laughing in between shedding tears with that line! Thank you Paulie, for making us all remember the humor and joy through all the rough times! ♥️
For many years, me and my brother love to make fun of Paulie. We always do a hilarious reenactment of Paulie having his freak outs with Rocky (especially Rocky II), because we always saw Paulie as an ungrateful piece of shit to Rocky. This scene makes me cry, because Paulie understands and acknowledges it and feels so damn guilty about it. Him questioning why didn't he die instead of Adrian hits even harder. This scene makes me realize that despite his faults, he will always have Rocky's back.
should of kept this in the movie. this what of been a turning point to see this side of paulie. maybe not the part about moving to the house because it wouldn't of made sense but the rest was emotional and moving.
Me too. However, and I saw at least one other deleted scene posted that in my humble opinion also should not have been), I would like to think that Stallone has enough clout with this franchise and with his own status that he could insist on what stays and what gets cut. I'm sure editing is a tough call but man.. why do some of these beautiful scenes end up on the cutting room floor? Give the fans EVERYTHING! Meaning.. everything great like this scene. Don't just flippantly nip n tuck it because of budget or movie-time constraints (if that's what the determining factors possibly are).
Should have kept this one. Really shows another side to Paulie. I was genuinely sad when the character died. This truly does hit home. Grew up watching these sense I was 5. Now I'm 32 and can still relate to these as I keep goin threw life.
Comment was 2 years ago, so you're 34 now, friend. You'll notice it even more when you're 51. That's why Rock says "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life." See, this isn't an insult. You're going to feel it hit you even worse as time goes by. It hurts. Look at Rocky in 'Creed'. He says "Everybody's left me." He doesn't mean they wanted to leave him. That's why we gotta remember that we all die alone, and the best we can do is to have someone we're leaving. It ain't how hard we hit, it's how hard we can get hit and keep moving forward.
This and when Pauly told Tommy Gunn that Rocky put him ahead of his own family and that Rocky was the real champ and threatened to punch him shows just how truly loyal of a friend Pauly is.
They shouldn't have cut this line. It was a big mistake I mean, sure you can interpret his regret from the line: "You treated her good! I didn't!". But here, he really bares his soul about how lousy he feels for how he treated Adrian and how much he loved her.
They took out all the best scenes I felt all the deleted scene gave the movie more story that not just Rocky fighting with his demons but his reality as well. But they took out the best scenes that could of really made this movie
Every time I watch the film and when I get past Paulie's rant in Rocky's restaurant, I go back to the menu and play this deleted scene, because it absolutely completes the moment. Fantastic acting by Burt Young.
Everybody experiences loss.. that’s always difficult. The most difficult thing to live with is knowing that you treated somebody that loved you badly. Oh Rocky feels enormous pain without Adrian, as does Pauly, but at least Rocky can put his head on the pillow at night knowing hell great he treated her. Paulie Obviously is a different story.
Loved the ending of this scene when he says “thanks paulie” after he leaves mad quietly. These two understand each other on a different level one that only two true homies can
I think deleting this was a good move. Paulie's outburst at the ice rink was much more powerful because he was still trying to put on a facade. To see that he was afraid of revisiting those old memories, rather than letting his emotions all out here, was much more agonizing and heartbreaking.
With Burt young playing Paulie; we saw the pains of a veteran battling demons everyday, sometimes pushing away everyone who ever loved us. It’s a burden and pain that words can’t quite do justice. Thank you, Burt.
takaz2 it has to do with pacing of movie and time and budgets most of the time it happens a lot in movies which is why have deleted scenes or alternate scenes or endings if run out of time for the shoot or want to keep pacing to avoid audiences complaining a movie is too slow moving or too long
one thing i've always noticed in the rocky movies he never used any foul language thats a good thing he was a good hearted person i think paulie was to
I had a feeling that something was missing from this scene in the movie, now i know why. Im mad they cut this, that scene is perfectly and fits so well with paulie s character
So many beautiful emotional moments. Especially 2:55 to the end. He breaks his balls like usual then stops to let him know he’s gonna be okay and that he believes in him because of what he told him earlier about the “basement”. You can tell that helped Rocky a lot mentally
A bit overacted and probably shot wrong (weird shot looking down the alley). I can see why they took it out, but they were probably killing themselves in the editing room wishing they could do this scene over and get it right.
I thought it was perfect, especially the alley look...but I can understand where you are coming from. It's a pity, either way, it didn't make it in to the movie. The whole story this time was on introspection and looking back, and this was a big moment to do that. At least we can see what could have been and add it to the movie in our minds.
This scene absolutely should’ve been left in. We love Paulie but he could be a real jerk sometimes. And it was important for his character to come to terms with the way he treated Adrian and Rocky. Especially Adrian. Anyway it’s still a great movie.
Paulie says he treats rocky bad but little does he know he was there for rocky since the beginning of his career and even though he wasent perfect he stood up for rocky
This is a excellent portrayal of how the viewer grows with the characters. When you watch this scene you can't help but remember the events of what happened in Rocky's 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This one for example is Paulie used to treat his sister like shit and always yell at Rocky. Shows their bonds and how much they miss Adrian.
It's a shame this scene was cut. As abusively as Paulie treated Adrian, it came from his own misery. He always loved his sister and wanted happiness for her-- even in the first movie when he tries to leverage Rocky's interest in her as a way to get Rocky to connect him with Gazzo -- but Paulie is just extremely flawed. Now he's a lonely, broken down old man, filled with remorse and regrets. As also seen in Rocky, Rocky 3 and this film, Paulie doesn't treat Rocky any better than he treated Adrian, although his loyalty and caring also come through at times. Too much of the time in most of the sequels, after being a flesh-and-blood and desperate character in the original, Paulie was just comic relief, a side character other than a scene or two or cartoonishly one-dimensional. Here, he becomes all-too human again and we know all the backstory. It's a very powerful scene.
