The reason they left the other injured students was that the water was rising and the ledge they were on was about to be covered. They had to climb a steep ravine and couldn't carry the wounded, so they left them behind to drown. They didn't tell because 1) they felt guilty about doing that to survive and 2) they thought it was kinder for the families to not know that some of the suffered first and had to sit there waiting to die as the water slowly rose--far better to believe they died a quick, painless death.
You explained perfectly why this book did not work. I also thought the premise was stupid. The story dragged and was not at all suspenseful. I agree that Cassidy was not a good main character, but I also understand that was the point. Her character was meant to be invisible. There are authors who have done this concept better. The story had too many characters and I didn’t care about any of them. I wish I would’ve passed on this. I hate DNFing books because some have managed to surprise me in the end. I won’t be checking out anything else from Meagan Miranda.
Yeah, it's pretty hard to add much to what you already said, because you pretty much nailed it. I will say that while I didn't HAAATE the book, I found it really difficult to become invested in 7 (8? 9??) characters that were so uni-dimensional. It is also the book in most recent memory during which I changed my mind the most times about who was the asshole. I think it is probably because they ALL were on some base level. I can definitely root for a flawed character that I find interesting enough, but these people were just being dodgy AF for no good reason! 😂 Like WHY are you doing this to yourselves?? Don't take a week of vacation time every year to keep doing this!🤦♀️ Also, I just have to say it...what are the chances of Cassidy being the one to find Ian's phone on the WHOLE damn beach??? 🧐🥴 As always, AWESOME spoiler talk! 🙌
I couldn’t agree more!!! So many similar unlikeable side characters and an almost nonexistent main character. All of the characters are sitting in a plot where almost nothing happens. 😝 I think the thing that I failed to get across in the video was how weird of a reading experience it was. There was too much to follow, but nothing really happened. 🤣 I didn’t hate it either. It was too boring to hate. Thank you so much for watching! I always love seeing your comments! 😄
I just finished this book earlier in the week, and I 100% agree with what you shared! I liked the book and didn't not finish it, but it was also so bizarre. Also what was the point of Amaya? So weird that she barely was in the story. And I totally called the fact that Russ was somehow involved when I was about midway through the book!
I did not personally find it boring. It seemed to keep small hooks coming up until the climax that kept my attention. I agree that there were too many characters. Hollis probably did not need to exist, and Oliver and Brody could have probably been combined into one.
Also, about the injured people left behind, iirc the water was rising or something and they would have been swept away if they tried to help. It I remember wrong, I will take the L.
I'm glad I didn't choose this one 😂. So cringeworthy. I don't trust any of the people in the story. Thank you! Great job navigating that mess. Have a wonderful day!
I actually liked this one. But while watching your video, I realized I wasn't really using my critical thinking skills here. Lol. The situation reminded me a lot of Happy Place by Emily Henry---a group of friends going to a vacation hour every year. But I DNF'd Happy Place and enjoyed this. The ending was a little unclear, but I'm okay with it.
This book has so many plot holes. The biggest problem for me is why BOTH vans went into the ravine. I can see the first van going over when she startled the driver, but what, the second van just blindly followed the first bus into the ravine? That doesn't make sense. The author could of at least had the vans crash into each other and then go off into the ravine. That would have been more believable.

I agree with EVERYTHING you said. The only reason I kept reading was because I knew you would be making a spoiler talk on it!
We powered through!!! This was a tough one! 😂
Thank you watching! ❤️
I'm so glad you did this. I read maybe 100 pages of this one and I hated it. Its so boring. Now I feel like I can dnf this one.
I'm so glad this helped! 😄

Good call on your! 😂
I hope you have a wonderful day too!

Good Point!!!
They did crash before going into the ravine.
I hated it! It was sooooo boring
