As a person with a disability myself, your channel is a breath of fresh air! You might want to try Celebrity Cruises. Pretty much everywhere on their ships are accessible. Thank you for all that you do.
I spent about 5 months in a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident (now mostly recovered, still have issues) back in '98. Even with that experience in my back pocket, your videos were eye opening for me on how much work is left to ensure everyone is included in activities. Going forward, I hope to be better at influencing not only for current needs, but also future needs (visitors, etc.) when I can. The cost doesn't have to go up, you just have to consider them up front. Some things (curb ramps, threshholds, etc.) are easy items to simplifiy life for everyone. There are many other similar things that are simple adjustments. And not just for wheelchair users, but for everyone with a disability.
My ex was a wheelchair user and he opened my eyes to a different world. I think you are doing the same thing here. I applaud your courage and your candour. Hugs from Adelaide!
I'm a travel agent and just got to experience a walk around the celebrity edge.. I recommend looking at that.. not trying to sell anything but even some of the hot tubs have a chair to assist people in. Pool as well.. it's a go to for me with a mum who currently has a broken hip.. very accessible ❤
I have Multiple Sclerosis and can walk but short distances. I went on the NCL Joy this May. I used my power wheelchair. The accessible inside room was sufficient. A little snug but doable. The boat itself was very accessible. However their pool was not. Steps. I used my cane to maneuver to go swimming. Their public accessible bathrooms were fantastic. Power doors. Even the stateroom had a power door. We went to Bermuda. The immediate port was 80% accessible. They had accessible ferries to take you to other areas. The bus to the popular beach was not accessible. I'm going on Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas next year. They have a lift chair for their pool. Looking forward to it. Thanks for your honesty.
My mom and I were on the NCL Star in 2015. We booked an accessible room through a travel agent. NCL had a desk specifically for people with disabilities to make sure that they got what they needed. The bathroom had a ramp to roll up into and the shower was accessible as well. We made sure that her needs were taken care of each time. They could not have been kinder. Also, we took a trans-Atlantic repositioning cruise in April and there were far fewer kids.
We book our cruises 18/24 months in advance to ensure we get the correct accessible accommodation and we double check the itinerary to try to have access to the ports. Tender ports are a no-no because of transfer across to the tender either end but if there is only one on a trip we want to do we accept we will be staying on board. Planning is the key to enjoying cruising.
Oh so you just accept that you cannot go while everybody can and you plan your vacation 2 years before because nobody ever cared about people with disabilities, that's awesome, you do their jobs for them, so they don't have to step outside their confort zone to include people like you :)
The North American based lines have been putting efforts in making ships work to be more accessible such as adding chairlifts for pools so it can be enjoyed by everyone. If you have the time do it.
Saw all your videos (thank you algorithm for showing them) and I find your rating still high! Especially the busses pissed me off. Thank you for sharing your trip, never ever going to book with them 😂 (I’d go for a no-kids cruise anyway because of sensitivities)
Hi mate. I’ve followed your cruise journey and if I can give one word of advice it would be “research”. Your travel agent should be held partly responsible also as they should have advised you against booking a guaranteed cabin. My partner and I have done many cruises now and we NEVER travel in high season. We have also steered clear of ships with a high volume of passengers as disembarkation and embarkation can be a nightmare. Please don’t let this experience put you off cruising.
MSC is the worst for handicap accessibility, princess treated me so inappropriately and rudely I WILL NEVER BE BACK ( although they did have some accessibly. Carnival has been excellent in every aspect, Norwegian is great and provides nice handicapped rooms but meals not as good as carnival. You very much choose your cruise with carnival carefully, make sure it’s multiple says away as the shorter cruses can be absolutely full of drunks. All cruise lines need BETTER SECURITY, MORE SECURITY WITH MORE EDUCATION IN POLICING AND LAW ENFORCEMENT!
Not that I was planning a cruise, but your videos have put me off the idea completely. Why pay full price if i cannot enjoy ALL the facilities? Think I will also avoid Europe. :( Way to much study to do before a trip

Carpet is quieter and not generally slippery compared to hard surfaces. But you're spot on with its downfalls.

I recommend Holland America Lines , they accomodate disabled people really well and go the extra mile to make your cruise perfect.

I'm so happy you're going to try another cruise line. Definitely try Virgin I'd say I hear nothing but good things about them.

Go with Royal Caribbean cruise line they are brilliant❤
Sweetheart we all truly hope cruise liners will take more time to have the tools us those including my friends in wheelchairs
Can't wait :D

i would love to join you on your cruise - i play league and i am german so it would be funny
I believe US cruises are more accessible from my experience. Sadly most ships have a lot of carpet.
Merry Christmas, can't wait for 2025 x
FRICK I MISSED IT BY 15 MINUTES
i have cerebral palsy, and don't use a wheelchair but after watching your videos - for our first cruise, we won't be going on MSC.

Hit me up before your next cruise! I'll give you a free zoom a call.

You think that boat is loud now? Imagine it without the carpet to dampen the foot steps. It would be unbearable. That is why there is so much carpet.
BTW, MSC is rated as one of the worst cruise lines in it's category.
To be really honest, even being able bodied, cruises seem to be a nightmare
