you should make a tip about how to retreat without expose broadside or way to retreat with broadside covered by island. like way to plan a course with escape plan in mind in case that your flank is collapsed. a lot of new player don't know how to properly do a U-turn and end up get deleted.
I feel like item number 3 should have a little *, sometimes the enemy ships pursuing you keep going after you even as your team turns to engage them, IF that happens, keep running away and let your teammates farm then, it has happened a lot of times to me when I'm the last BB alive in a flank, they pursue until either they get you, or your team gets them xD
That’s how teams throw. They chase after a couple of ships or a cv leaving the caps defenseless. Then they call everyone noobs and to “get gud” and complain to the red team that their team is worthless. I feel like people that are rank 1 are the worst for that. If they lose it can’t be their fault, their rank 1 so they insult their team thinking it will change something
Positioning is fundamental, though your own team is the true enemy. Remarkable work as usual iChase, thank you, I wish at least 50% of the player base watched your videos.
Wow, this is really useful! I found this by accident. Will definitely view the other 10. Subbed! As an occasional player I can really do with some expert insights... I just got my brand new Warspite and can't wait to put some of these tips in practice.
Love your videos iChase! Can you please do one on "weak spots / trick citadels" of common BBs and/or other ships? You mentioned Yamato's cheeks in the video. Any other good places to aim for in a 1v1 situation (for Montana, Kremlin, Moskva, DM, Worc, etc?) I find it difficult to not get over pens on light cruisers.
My tip for bb. Learn when to fire and when not to. Sometimes it’s not worth letting the team know your position. Be aware of your detection range, bbs always have to worry about dds since you really have no effective counter. Don’t try to find a spot at the beginning and just bow tank. I see it so much when a bb goes and parks thinking they will be supported and they get burnt down fast. You will need to make every shot count. Bad angle? Don’t shoot! There may be a broadside cruiser passing and you’ll miss it. Don’t be afraid to load HE, even tho people cry about bbs using it, this isn’t as bad as it once was. Don’t use repair control for 1 fire, what happens if you get focused and 3 fires are lit? Basically know when to engage and when not to, be aware of your surroundings and situation. If you have a slow bb this is even more important.
Nice. Very good explain of how this things should work. Problem is here that the ingame-experience is quite different. 40%: MM decides lowtier with 2CV and three destroyers is fun for you too play. 40%: the majority of your team gets killed while you are on the way to the perfect position 15%: You are in the perfect position. The enemy carrier knows that too. 5%: Hooray, it worked! Dont get me wrong, I really appreciate your guides and they help me a lot. But the game reality gives you only poor chances to profit from it...
Thank you some good advice, even if it seems pretty obvious to me - not that I'm that good to implement it, but I keep trying. Funny thing I can tell where the game goes after first 2 minutes... then it's fighting inevitable more often than not. Now my problem with such videos is - you are in division, with better team than reds. What I would like to see is when you potato, are solo, with bad team AND then tells us what went wrong, how you could do better. Now, such guide would be much more helpful imho. You kind of started it with this Republique play, but it was too late in this game, so it was pointless.
Very helpful, as we have come to expect. I was motivated to seek this out primarily in the context of the "Five Epochs of the Navy" campaign, where I am trying to get "potential damage" in my New Mexico and Izmail. With the level of actual damage from carriers, particularly, and Tier VIII battles, generally, it is tough going. I tend to work towards the middle in slow ships such the New Mexico because repositioning takes ages, but I am re-thinking that. The Izmail should be good for kiting, given the turret arrangement and the less vulnerable stern. (I should just re-buy the Bayern. Less affected by power creep than the others, and probably always was a better ship than I thought it was when I sold it.)

do not lemming train with other battleships. Learn what your firing angles are to maximize you firepower, yet maximize you angled armor Create 2 on 1 situations with your long range , heavy fire. Push but know how to stay out of the rain or find an island for an umbrella.
I keep looking at the first clip used as a bad example. He kept his ship in line with the enemy as he knew it would make him harder to hit. He would have never made it if he tried to reposition at that point. He kept firing back and actually got a kill AND survived which was his goal. Then the clip was cut just as the ship was going to reposition.

AVOID the corners of the map!!! It is literally "painting yourself into a corner". You may be kiting away in a straight line but eventually you will have to turn the 90 degree, and at that point you are broadside to everything that was chasing you. sorry for the intervention but ....... there is only one thing you need to know about bb Never,NEVER DRIVE BACK!!!!!!!an insanely easy target for everyone!!!!!mostly for the nasty HE spamers! !!!!!there is no easier and helpless target than bb driving back!
So I'm in the T VI Bayern mostly, and trying not to switch around ships to get used to the shell arc and such. I'm slower than most paddle boats. My guns take 37 and a half years to reload or reposition. Teammates on my side either fake push to our objective and duck out, or immediately head for the middle and die. It seems like the smartest thing to do is to afk for the first 5 minutes and see how the map settles because I'm so god awful slow with such bad range when spotter plane is down if I get caught out or away I'm never coming back from it.
Very nice video alltogether. I'm only a bit disappointed about the Dunkerque part. You said yourself that the ship has it's own perks yet you used it as a 0815-generic battleship. The only armor this thing has is it's fancy bow and deck armor. Showing the side or the back to the enemy is just asking for a paddlin. Same with Roma. It's stern is crap. I'd say those clips were a somewhat questionable choice to demonstrate the gist behind BBs, but who am I to judge. Still, everything you said is pretty much the 101 on battleship gameplay. If only more players would watch this video and try to implement said things into their playstyle.
You truly do not grasp the concept of battleships. First off why do you think they are called BATTLEships? Because they are good at running away and hiding? You need brains and battle experience to pilot BB successfully. Your main problem is you see what your enemy are doing before you see what your team are doing that is how you ended up splintered off from the pushing force and turned yourself into bait ,which your lucky didn’t get you killed btw, you faced the enemy with your front guns but used Ap rounds on BB from distance missing mostly. Your theory about using half the gun power is wrong and contrived from long hours of unguided playtime. This is not a guide it is a cry for help.
I am Russian BB player Unlocked Sinop and I know one thing that angling the ship increases survival in match but without support you can't do much just like you played with that German BB there was support of North Carolina he was giving you position to cross fire that's the team work required without teamwork even powerful BBs like Kremlin gets doomed.
Ichase pls make a video about how to counter Cruisers in the game because they are stupidly strong now. Their range is far, their dpm is very strong, their armor is a joke. Its like you cant do anything to them. Like Venezia, her gun is so trong, every salvo cos me >10k hp, when i fire back she ez dodge with insane maneuver. its like BB cant play effective in this game anymore, Cruisers is now completely out gun everything. If you have any tip, pls make a video about it. tks
i can say that on the match end in minutes 29 im not see you play very well i see 3 players who choise to run away when they can focuse on you 2xBB 1xCR realy ? fire from CR bb change from He to AP anly if you are broadside maximum chance for you was have to be 2 salvo GN all

Oh man if he'd been in NC instead of the Roma he would have shredded those broadsides...
@@nephalos666 You don't overpen the main belt of a BB, even with superheavy 16" AP. Aim lower to the waterline next time.
How do you play that "where has he gone?"-game if you are sitting in a Fuso? Her stealth is abysmal, like most Japanese ships.
Simple - You just don't.
sorry for the intervention but ....... there is only one thing you need to know about bb
Never,NEVER DRIVE BACK!!!!!!!an insanely easy target for everyone!!!!!mostly for the nasty HE spamers!
I love cruisers cause they are fast and can grind down ships pretty quick.
Thank you! These videos are much needed and I, for one, definitely appreciate them!
Good video. Well thought out and explained.
First issue I saw was that he was using a French vessel :P
Very good video. I already am a confident bb player (55%), but there might are things to improve ;)
You didn't listen to Yuros guide on "How to Roma" you can't show your stern like that...
Thanks for your videos. I returned to WoWS after a long time and this really helps me out!
Welcome back and glad that I could help!
If you have any tip, pls make a video about it. tks
i can say that
on the match end in minutes 29 im not see you play very well
i see 3 players who choise to run away when they can focuse on you
2xBB 1xCR realy ? fire from CR bb change from He to AP anly if you are broadside maximum chance for you was have to be 2 salvo
GN all
there si a lot of cheats on this game it's ridiculous
Another great one with loads of food for thought. Now... to be able to put that into practice...that is the rub. Great information 👍
Thank for your video, now I can play BB effectively. Average damage on my montana now is 100k per battle.
Is the red team a real team meaning is there actually people playing on their team or it’s computerized
4:23 " what you're really trying to keep an eye on is" HE spamers.
Could you be more arogant and smug while being worng at the same time?
