    Deal breaker for me is the lack of power the Sprinter has. I read too many horror stories about how the Sprinter struggles uphill. The Transit crushes inclines. I think being able to go up steep hills outweighs a shorter entrance.

    Good point but for me the deal breaker against MB is the number dealerships and repair shops for each brand in the USA. Too difficult to find shops for the MB compared to the FT. This along with the prices for replacement parts both contribute to the FT over the MB overall IMHO.

    • @thevagabondonwheels4918
      @thevagabondonwheels4918 7 месяцев назад +1

      Not to mention that a very significant number of Mercedes dealerships that do exist won't work on a Sprinter. This isn't that big of a deal if you run a fleet of cargo vans as you will know which area dealership you can use for service, but for someone traveling all over, this is a huge deal. In some locates you might be a couple of hundred miles from someplace to get your van worked on. That is never the case with a Ford or a Dodge.

    Transit Pro's
    Easy to repair,
    Parts readily available, very common.
    any mechanic can work on it, no specialist needed
    price, 20k plus in savings
    sleep east west no bump outs.
    mid roof has 6' headspace.
    pros for MB Sprinter
    Better build quality , taller door
    But when it breaks down you will need a dealer to fix it and you will be flying home and be without your van for 30 to 90 days, very long waits for repairs and service.
    You guys build really great vans, Im always getting inspiration from your builds, Im on my third build now, its a 2023 Transit

    My son is 6’3” he’s never hit his head getting in or out of my van, I’m 5’ 8” and have never hit my head. I hang out with a lot of 6 footers, they’ve never hit their heads.My son has plenty of head room inside the van an so do I. I like the way my Transit drives way better than I liked how the sprinter drives, I checked them both out before deciding on which one to order. The transit has got tons of power with the eco boost engine, it’s never struggled up a hill, I’ve had sprinter owners tell me theirs are gutless going up big hills. . I like how my Transit is wider at the top inside, I don’t feel claustrophobic like I do anytime Im in a sprinter. I get 13-16 (18 if there’s not a lot of wind or major hills) mpg and don’t have to pay for diesel. Mines a 2021 so haven’t run into repairs yet but know that when I do, I can get it fixed anywhere and it won’t cost me an arm and a leg. I think the sprinter is way more sporty looking and has amazing color options, but that has nothing to do with function. The all wheel drive function on the Ford is amazing in snow, on icy roads, heavy rain, mud and ruts down dirt roads. I’m not trying to 4 wheel in it so anywhere I’ve taken it I feel safe driving it. It makes me wonder what kind of glue or paint fumes you guys are breathing in your shop that’s making all of you bang your heads when you try and get in and out of a van, that might be something to look at before you recommend steering clear of the transit based on a lower door.😂. We party and nobody has ever consumed enough of any substance to hit their heads so I am truly puzzled by this information. Love your videos,and your vans are beautiful and amazing!

    The other Sprinter deal breaker is the lack of Mercedes dealerships (385 in the US as of Dec 2023), whereas Ford has tons more (2,910 in the US as of Dec 2023). If you have a maintenance problem on the road with a Transit, it will be a lot easier to find a repair shop.

  • @ajsaldana4212
    @ajsaldana4212 8 месяцев назад +1

    Can't help but think that this video is biased in favor of the Sprinter. You talk about the height of the sliding door opening, but the ceiling height of the transit has 4 more inches. That is huge, and much more of a benefit than the size of the sliding door opening!!

    Kind of misleading when you left out the whole part about the Transit being 4" Taller on the inside. I really want the MB over the Transit but I am 6'4 and would'nt be able to stand all the way up in my 200k van build. I hate how we have to pick and choose. Transit needs a full length door and MB needs a higher ceiling height

  • @gofy8481

    I've looked at them both and am leaning to MB. The only thing the Ford has is horsepower. That is big. But the mercedes is WAY nicer inside. The seats, the dash, the headliner, controls, virtually everything. I am looking at the MB crew version which does have a second seat, totally finished ceiling and floor, and wi dows on door and driver side. This MB is soo much nicer inside. It is 10k more than the Trail. I have friends with sprinters and none of them complain about service or power. However the MB get at least 8 mpg better fuel economy. I wouldn't believe that the ecoboost is a longer lasting or better engine than a MB. So ford slamming a bigger engine into a crappy delivery van doesn't appeal to me.

  • @harleyearl3289

    Built my own Transit camper van, so any builder would know I was in and out of it more than one would want to count. I am 5’11” and I MAY HAVE hit my head once or twice. Because it has the lower doorway, I was able to extend smaller upper cabinetry into the entryway above and set back from my countertop. This space on a sprinter cannot be leveraged for storage.
