Fatima Nadaf vitamix and blendtec blenders are like 1-3 horsepower if I remember correctly. Not sure what that comes out to in Watts, but the more power you have the easier you’ll be able to make the nut butter

you can use a regular food processor. it just takes a bit longer. About 5 to 10 minutes to get the same result and push the nuts back with a spoon a few times
cata kohler I made mix nut butter today using a 20 yrs old smoothie maker, but it worked! 🥳 I’m so exited, thought you should give it ago. And like the comment below saying blend for a little longer

Hi Lisa, I'm a brand new subscriber and absolutely loving your videos! Currently recovering from chemo and a mastectomy and have shifted to a diet of natural, unprocessed whole foods (especially homemade) and generally simplifying my life as I heal, so your videos are very inspiring. Thank you! Question: can nut butters be done in a regular blender? I don't have a Vitamix.
Hi Andrea - welcome to the community and I'm so happy you're loving my videos! Also, big kudos to your for simplifying your life and adopting healthier habits. I'm sure those changes will benefit you heaps in your recovery! For the nut butters, they can be more difficult in regular blenders as you really need the tamper to push the nuts into the blades (especially on almond and cashew butters), as well as the higher powered motor. You can make them in a food processor though, they just take longer...about 20 minutes. :)
@@Downshiftology I use a 7 cup KichenAid food processor, with just my large chop blade in the bottom. I make a type of “nut” butter that doesn’t use any butter or oil - or even any “nuts”, for that matter, just “seeds”. This recipe is from the book: “Nature’s Cures,” by Dr. Arpelian, and I use the following recipe from her for “Arthritis and Osteoarthritis” (general bone and joint pain), which is very bad. Everyone responds differently, but I noticed a very real difference in about ten days. I have arthritis and osteoarthritis very badly, and everything else had failed, so I thought I’d give it a try. I use a combination of: 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds, 1/2 cup flax seeds, and 2 tab. sesame seeds. Process them very fine. To this add: 3 tab. finely chopped raisins (I like golden raisins) and process mixture again. Then add 2 pkg., (15 ml ea., or 2 tab. each) of unflavoured gelatine powder (dry) to that and process the mixture again until well mixed. Then I pour in 1 cup pure honey (room temp.) and process until you have a very homogeneous mixture, and will look very creamy and smooth - much like any nut butter! . This will fill a 500 ml glass jar. Put into fridge for up to 2 months. The directions say to take one tablespoon, three times a day, on an empty stomach. I found that using a blender made it more difficult to remove more of the final product from the jar and blades, but found it easier to clean my processor and blade without loosing almost any mixture. Warning: I tried to double the recipe and found that the mixture was too stiff for the motor of my machine and the “butter-like” mixture went up too far over the top of the blade spindle, fell down and then up into the inside of my blade. However, after cleaning everything up, and waiting for the motor to cool down, it did recover, but I only make just the above amount in it. Just thought I’d warn anyone. Hope this helps someone !
I just got a Vitamix 3300. I used it immediately to make almond butter. I roasted my four cups of almonds for 11 minutes at 350. However, when I blended them, they were so dry (not enough natural oil came out of the almond). So perhaps I didn't roast them long enough? How can I tell when it's been long enough without burning them? I had to add oil to the blender to get it smooth. Thanks
Hi, I have a Vitamix Professional Series 750 Heritage blender and it did not perform the same way as your Ascent 3500. I am thinking the motor of the Ascent is more powerful than the Professional Series. I use my food processor to make almond butter and I do roast the almonds dry before processing it. I sometimes use two different nuts to make the butter. Pecan and almond butter, and, macadamia and almond butter. I am a new subscriber to your channel. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I have never made any kind of nut butter at home, but after seeing this I definitely will! It's simple and I know exactly what goes into it. And ZERO processed sugar. Perfect! I've also been loving your meal prep videos and I can't wait to try them! Thank you so much! I love your channel! You are inspiring.
@@Downshiftology On the search for some good glass containers. I have a few, but will get some more. I live in Germany and don't think I'll find the same brands here, but am sure I can find some very good ones nonetheless.
I made some of this and it's good! Only thing is it actually took a little more time than a minute but that's probably because my mixer isn't that good. Thanks!
I’m so distressed I didn’t watch this before literally standing 30 minutes blending raw almonds, my blender got soo hot I couldn’t even touch it. I stopped blending and I put the almond clumps in a jar, definitely will try it again with toasted almonds! Thank you so much for the information I would have bought a jar for legitimately 18 pounds!!

I own a vitamix blender and yes it makes nut butters very easily it also does lots of other jobs too. I also have a cuisinart food processor that will also make nut butter in a few minutes. Homemade nut butters are fabulous, the store bought ones have lots of additives in.
Downshiftology ok I bought some almond butter in a deli type container and there were no instructions for refrigeration. So now it's bad?thanks for sharing
@@Talletc Don't spread lies and misinformation please. I've kept homemade almond butter in my fridge for 3 months, it was still as fresh as the day I made it. That is, unless you meant it only lasts 2 weeks because you consume it all by then.
Thank you for this!! But, I have a question: Did your blender/Vitamix not smell kind of burned when you did it? I have the same blender, and, when I make nice cream, my blender starts to smell burned & gets overheated. I really wanna try to make almond and peanut butter, but I'm afraid if the blender gets damaged. Maybe I should, when I make the almond or peanut butter, start with a lower speed, and then slowly turn up the speed - so the blender does not get a “shock.” Do some of you have the same experience?
OMG this is GOLD! I live in Bali and brought my Vitamix with me. I'm gonna sell all kinds of nut butters here! lol. Gonna make nut butter tomorrow! Hubby loves peanut butter too...
I'm getting my first vitamix ever (a2500i) and I'm so fricking excited to be making nut butters and cashew sauces, etc. can't wait😍😍😍 do you reckon you can make raw almond butter with it? thanks x
I finally tried it on my vitamix. I roasted the almond that I bought from Costco for 10 min. But it took me a few minutes and had to add coconut buter to finally make it. And this morning it not liquidy at all super thick. What did I do wrong!!
So I just made this almond butter tonight in a KitchenAid blender. I baked the almonds first like you said and waited until they were room temperature. I then put them in the blender and it blended pretty good but I noticed the blender was getting hot or could it be I didn't wait long enough for the almonds to cool. ( I had waited about 30 minutes for them to be not hot to the touch.) Anyway, i have never eaten almond butter before and was a little disappointed with the taste. Can I add honey and cinnamon like someone else did, and if so, how long will it last in frig with the extra ingredients. Thank you so much. I love all your ideas!!!
It is an investment if you cook daily and you eat these foods and frozen veggie and fruit smoothies and soups etc etc. also is it about 400$ and you can buy second hand too. I have mine 10 years and it is like new, used daily never an issue it looks great and works great. At the same time I have bought my mom 4 less expensive blenders from 60-150$ and they keep braking apart every year.
Serenity Princess not true, I used a cheap 20 yr old smoothie maker. And my mixed nut butter turned out amazing, you just need to blend longer and stir a few times
Yes! All the time. And I actually just posted a macadamia cashew butter recipe on my blog. You could do this exact recipe with 100% cashews if you'd like as well. So creamy and delish! :) downshiftology.com/recipes/macadamia-cashew-butter/
I am watching the latest season of Masterchef UK, and in the first episode Marcus Wareing made a cashew butter for one of the skills test. The comment he made was that if you did not heat the nuts first the oil will split (he added olive oil during teh blending). FWIW.
Great video! straight to the point and easy enough to replicate i'm going to try this in my blendtec.. Question, l hate cold nut butters, how long will it last if l keep it airtight in the pantry? Thanks again
Glad you liked the video! Unfortunately, homemade nut butters don't contain the sugar, salt and preservatives of commercial nut butters, so they will go rancid quite quickly. Even airtight it will be prone to bacteria growth. So I would not recommend storing in your pantry. The best thing is to take out as much as you'd like to enjoy that day, and let it come to room temperature before eating. :)
We got a Vitamix for Christmas, and my spouse and I having recently transitioned to a wholefood, plant based diet, are making more things ourselves to avoid highly processed goods, with so many additives much of the time. I made this as per the above video, but I didn't let the nuts cool down sufficiently, which was a mistake. It was taking an eternity (around 7-8 minutes), and was still a very dry consistency, so I added a few tbsp of coconut oil, which got the ball rolling. Having watched a few more videos now, I see that it would eventually turn out given more time. I thought I had cooled them enough, but once done, the temp of the finished product, which we were extremely happy with, was still 97 deg C (I realise the friction from the machine obviously contributed to this), and I wonder if this played a part in taking significantly longer than the video??? Very happy overall though, thank you.
Hello and thank you for all your wonderful videos! Lisa your a really great Person and I wish you all the best! I also hva a question (if it's okay I aks), and that is: What will happened if you only hava a normal mixer? (because I`m a student and I don't have enough money to buy expensive tolls for my home)
Gasgiant I assume they would rather count as nuts than vegetable but you have a point. Also I wonder why vegetable oils are unwanted? There are many vegetable oils with health benefits
Kai E. Most vegetable oils contain GMO ingredients and are chemically processed making it unhealthy. Expeller pressed healthy oils like avocado oil and olive oil aren’t neutral enough in taste to pair well with the almond butter and would overwhelm the natural almond taste. Lastly, yes, almonds produce their own oils which is why she roasted them first to help bring the oils out. 🤗
Gasgiant yes, almonds have natural oils which is why she roasted the almonds first, to bring out all of that natural oil. Many cosmetic companies use almond oil in beauty and hair products for its nutritive and moisturizing properties. Almond oil however isn’t good for frying or sautéing food as the smoke point isn’t very high at all and would cause the oil to burn quickly producing free radicals which can cause cancer.

Great, thanks. Any particular brand or will anyone do?
@@Downshiftology if you don't have a Vitamix can you use another tamper and then how high from the blades should you stay?
Thanks
Can’t wait to try this!! 💖 great way to make almond flour AND almond butter!
I'm wondering how long it can last for
Hi, I have a Vitamix Professional Series 750 Heritage blender and it did not perform the same way as your Ascent 3500.
Wow! This is Great!! Almond Butter much heather then Peanut Butter!
That is the goal when creating your own nut butters 😊 Also, I hope you enjoy the recipes from the meal preps!
Can't wait to get the new Vitamix!! awesome video by the way
You'll love it - it's a beauty! And thanks for the compliment! :)
Watching this in 2020: Lisa’s voice has definitely changed over the course of years ...in a more RUclips- friendly way from a more professional, work voice! Love it 😍
You make it look so easy and so good! Thanks for the demo. LOVE my Vitamix, too!
It really is super easy! I make it every couple of weeks around here (though I do switch up my nut varieties). :)
O man that just made my mouth water!
I'm going to find me some almonds!
However, I don't have your blender so wish me luck with my Nutribullet 🤷🏽...
Almond Butter here I come!!🤗
I've always wanted to try this. It looks super easy to make. Can't wait to try it!
Once you do, you'll be happy you did!
I own a vitamix blender and yes it makes nut butters very easily it also does lots of other jobs too. I also have a cuisinart food processor that will also make nut butter in a few minutes. Homemade nut butters are fabulous, the store bought ones have lots of additives in.
How long will these last in the refrigerator?
It will keep for several months in the refrigerator. :)
Downshiftology ok I bought some almond butter in a deli type container and there were no instructions for refrigeration. So now it's bad?thanks for sharing
HOME MADE RAW BUTTER LASTS TWO WEEKS IN THE REFRIGERATOR
@@Talletc Don't spread lies and misinformation please. I've kept homemade almond butter in my fridge for 3 months, it was still as fresh as the day I made it. That is, unless you meant it only lasts 2 weeks because you consume it all by then.
@@Downshiftology A few comments down from this one (4 months ago), you replied that it will last 2 weeks in fridge. So, several months or 2 weeks?
That blender is genuine. Thank you.
Your food processor is perfect. Mine is not that good what its name please. Thank you . Im big fan from Syria
I use my Vitamix blender in this video. :)
All I was looking for was chia pudding recipes but yet here am ready try making almond butter and blueberry puree tomorrow ;)
Hahah! You got stuck down the Downshiftology tunnel 😊
Downshiftology both turned out amazing! Thank you!
OH MY GOSH THAT LOOKS AMAZING
I made it in my vitamix, but only did 2 cups if alminds and it did work, but it took 3 minutes, which is fine, but it did work.
I'm getting my first vitamix ever (a2500i) and I'm so fricking excited to be making nut butters and cashew sauces, etc.
can't wait😍😍😍
do you reckon you can make raw almond butter with it? thanks x
Hi Andra - how exciting! The Vitamix will be your new best friend, and yes, you can make raw almond butter with it :)
You will be glad u did
Could I use an air fryer with a roasting function to cook the almonds?
I finally tried it on my vitamix. I roasted the almond that I bought from Costco for 10 min. But it took me a few minutes and had to add coconut buter to finally make it. And this morning it not liquidy at all super thick. What did I do wrong!!
I just watched a video of making almond butter in the food processor and it takes 15-20 minutes! Thumbs up for Vitamix!
Yes, it's way faster and easier in a Vitamix!
Downshiftology I have one but look forward to winning a better one. 😉
Yes, you can definitely add honey and cinnamon. And it will last for several weeks in the fridge. :)
Hello! How long will the almond butter last in the fridge?
All you gotta do is spend 600+ dollars on that blender then you can make homemade fresh almond butter..... 😑
A food processor is cheaper AND u don’t gotta smash the almonds
Get a $50 food processor and u can do this !!!!
U can use a good processor!
Thank you for your information ,
Could you please give me the specification of this blender ?
I really hope you scraped the blender out better than that off camera! 😆💯
I'm excited about this. Thank you so much. I can't eat regular butter. Certainly going to try it this weekend...
I think to do this and look at my blender
My blender: am i a joke for you?
Valeu!
Thanks so much for all your support Denise! ❤️
I have some raw cashews that I need to use. Do you ever make cashew butter? Would you roast them the same way you did the almonds? Thanks!
FWIW.
That is an amazing blender
I need a vitamix!!!
Do You use wet or dry (Blade) Vitamix Container? Can I use wet Container ( normally used for smoothie)?
I'm scrolling through all the comments, wondering the same thing! Anyone?
I just found the answer, "This is the 64oz wet container." :)
I tried with food processor and started getting too hot and saw some smoke
, eventhou I pulsed. I switched to blender and still too thick.
M P haha
I just made this and 1 minute right. It turned out super smooth and tasty. Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear your almond butter turned out perfectly Chelsy! 😊
Waooo, thanks for sharing this wonderful posting. You are the best 100%
How long can we keep it?
gkdiscovery 7 months refrigerated
This is great! Thank you for sharing. Anyone know how long the almond butter will last in the refrigerator?
Must it be stored in fridge?
Yes. It will quickly go rancid if left on the countertop or in a pantry as there's no preservatives.
Hello and thank you for all your wonderful videos!
Lisa your a really great Person and I wish you all the best!
I also hva a question (if it's okay I aks), and that is: What will happened if you only hava a normal mixer?
(because I`m a student and I don't have enough money to buy expensive tolls for my home)
this is perfect as it's free from vegetable oil
Yes! You don't need any added oils when you make it from home. :)
Free from vegetable oil? Almonds have oil?
Thank you!! How long does it last?
You owe me a new blender 😭
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, I know my blender would blow up.....
I have a cheap blender from Dollar General. I wouldn't dare try this with my current blender.
Thank you so much for this easy recipe. Would that be ok to use Nutribullet?
I roasted almond and I tried it with blender it.😭 Didn't work🙈
