In college I wrote parking tickets for the University. Quite frequently I had to have vehicles towed. I can't remember how many people who came out to argue demanding I release the vehicle. I found keeping a calm demeanor during these confrontations was the way to go. If the situation got out of control, I just had the University Police respond and deal with it. Sometimes these folks would say the wrong thing and away they went.
Yo was that a bullet proof vest? Much respect man, that's intense. People can get crazy when this kinda stuff happens, and you're just trying to do your job, I feel for both sides, because I've been there, I've had my car towed out of my own driveway (Private property too, not a rental or anything owned outright) because code enforcement was like "YOU NEED A TAG ON YOUR CAR" its like it didn't pass inspection I gotta fix it, they wont let me register it until its fixed and I didn't have a garage. But that's not the tow guys fault, shit happens, people gotta do their jobs you can't get mad at it, or rather, you can be mad at it just not at the guy or lady trying to do their job, they don't wanna ruin your day anymore than they want you to ruin theirs. Kudos to pretty much everyone involved in this one, no one got irate, especially being an apartment complex those can get heated as neighbors and stuff start coming out.
Idk how he does this sometimes. Non-consensual towing is one of the trickiest jobs. Not to mention dangerous. I don't have the patience for peoples BS!

I just came across this channel a day or two ago and you do your best to talk to people respectfully at all times. You are doing your job and people got every excuse in the book I see.
So here's a small fact about security companies working for apartments. When I worked security, we had authorization to tow vehicles off the properties for violations. The maintenance team, or any other workers did not need to be informed unless it was during operation hours for their shifts. Due to working at night, I was the only one who could call and authorize a tow. Now some places don't allow security companies to tow, and that's fine, but if the maintenance guy is getting involved during the day time hours, then something doesn't add up to him not knowing who would be towed. This dude is acting like he knows all the rules for the security company, and I can guarantee you that he doesn't even work during the night hours. He was just trying to make sure his buddy there could see that he can handle things. Jokes on you man, you failed and it was sad just seeing you try to act all smart.
@@chuckh4077 It mostly sucked when I had to drive to a location that was miles away to sign for a tow. They would call us at the worst times and expect us to be there in 5 minutes, and I'm literally 45 mins away.
Never heard that before, I can only assume that it was a gigantic apartment complex. Usually only the property manager can authorize a tow. Like most honest tow companies will not even accept a tow authorization from someone other then a verified property manager. Simply because it can become a legal issue for a tow company if they roll onto private property and tow for no reason. As an apartment complex is still considered private property under most state's laws. Under most states law if a tow company rolls onto private property and tows without proper authorization then it is no different then stealing the car. In my state, if you confront the tow truck driver before he rolls off of your property (assuming apartment complex and not a self-owned home) then they must drop the vehicle. They are allowed to charge a $75 drop fee, BUT if they refuse to drop the vehicle on confrontation then it becomes theft.
@@craigfin3222 the tow companies had to be contracted to work for the complexes for them to tow any vehicles. The only time the tow companies would tow without management or my knowledge, is if they were doing a permit check. If the vehicle didn't have a parking permit, it would be subject to tow without needing me or management to be there. Now if they hooked a vehicle and the owner came and stopped them, they would have the option to pay the drop fee. I only saw this happen twice, and the owner still thought they were allowed to park in the fire land because there were no other parking spots left. At no time did I authorize a tow that wasn't illegal or not a good tow. None of the drivers would tow a vehicle if it looked like it was legally allowed to be there.

Turns out that people are a lot more polite when a big guy is smoking in the shadows watching VS just a solo guy with his back turned trying to hook a car!
In a few videos (super low numbered ones) Johny had cards to give out. I do not know how many he tows in a day, but he would probably have to give out about 10 cards a day. ards are not free to print, and with COVID, finding print shops to print cards (correctly) is still kind of tough. I go through about 500 a year (two boxes), and I am told by my boss that the price has doubled in the last year.

The maintenance guy hadn’t got a clue what was going on!!! The left hand didn’t know what the right hand was doing!!!!Comes to mind. Stay safe
It’s unbelievable to me that someone would put a tag from another car on their car, and think that they’re going to get away from it. Does code enforcement ticket cars? She definitely broke the law. Good job keeping everybody cool Johnny. You are exceptionally good at working with the public. Props to you.
It can be done but on ur own land...parked in a garage..etc...not at an apt complex
It’s the same people driving around without insurance or driver’s license.
It’s a poverty problem. People have issues and do what they can to try to pacify the law. They don’t own property or even have family that owns property that they can store their vehicle on. They may not even know anybody with a yard big enough to store a vehicle. Problems y’all wouldn’t ever understand I guess. And that car is their livelihood. Don’t judge people whose situation you’ve never been in.
@@MrNeutralParty who gives a fuck. Black folks ain't above the law

I hope the management of those buildings has a good talk with the maintenance department about overriding the complex rules. You handled that better than I would have.
God Bless me with the Spirit of Calm, Peace & Serenity that this tow truck professional has.🙏🏽🙏🏽
That maintenance guy is doing more than what he’s paid to do.
So the maintenance guy wanted the car dropped…..is he willing to then pay the $1k fine for the code violation out of his pocket? Doubt it!
Can’t even pay the $100 drop fee
@@RustyZipper lmao
It's amazing how people come up with all these reasons why their car CAN'T be towed. Straight up, the maintenance man was in the wrong! He has no business even getting in the middle of this. If the property manager had any integrity what so ever ... they will drop this guy on his head. It's clear he has some involvement with the owner and should not be trying to get you to put yourself in a position. GREAT JOB keeping your cool Johnny. Stay safe brother. ✌️🇺🇸
Exactly 💯
That’s exactly what I thought! He’s involved with her!
The maintenance man has a " special relationship" with the resident. You get what I mean..... He's trying to override the security officer AND the property manager for this woman. He wouldn't do it for other residents.
Exactly
And he lookin real stupid trying to explain things that aint his profession @alfandeddie
Look at this Maintenance guy acting like he got any authority. He’s probably the weed dealer for the complex
You can hear the maintenance man cursing in the background…. So unprofessional 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I could tell right there he wasn’t going to get his way lol
Good on you, Johnny, for being calm and respectful in these situations. Somebody in management needs to have a talk to that maintenance bloke, too, he was trying to pull a swifty.
Little boy, Mercedes has an improper tag. End of story. Keep safe Johnny.
That was a tough one. You handled that one very professionally, Johnny. You kept your cool and still treated everyone respectfully.
Not really, cut and dried. Johnny should have some business cards , handed them out and left. Let those clowns call whomever they wish
I get second hand embarrassment for the "maintenance man". Acting he is the property manager.
Have to say you're one of the NICEST tow truck operators I have ever seen in video!
I'm still not convinced that guy was actually the maintenance man.
Me to 🥴🤔
Easy to say that sitting on your comfy chair. Go ask him personally to see if he is

Great job Johnny! You have the patience of a saint! I would have just driven off so many times where you stayed calm....great job!
That woman need to clean her ear out, always saying "Huh" after every sentence. You repeating yourself way too many times and you have a patience of a saint.
I'm impressed with your patience with people. It must be hard to deal with manipulative, misleading, entitled people but you do it well.
“Just put the car down and take the others”
Talk about entitlement….
Lazy. Entitled

Nice work Johnny
The patience you have is beyond me I would’ve just drove off
I figured out your code: “I understand that “, means “You’re a damn liar”. 🤣🤣🤣
Idk how he does this sometimes. Non-consensual towing is one of the trickiest jobs. Not to mention dangerous. I don't have the patience for peoples BS!
“I understand” means, I hear you and I want to care but I’m all out of F&$@‘s to give so I’m going to take your car, please don’t shoot me in the face for your car that doesn’t even run
It also means "You're f****d." 😁😁
Maintenance man was acting like he ran the place. Great job keeping things professional and calm.
What a pain. Can’t believe they think you just like to ride in and find random cars to tow. Glad you kept your cool.
alot of tow companies do thats why the maintenance man was questioning i believe
You are the most compassionate person. Thank you for treating people as well as you do!
You are too nice. I would’ve left and avoided the situation. All the way respect for you. New subscriber💯
They gave you guys alot of power. I worked in security and I just reported the violations and it was up to property manager to call in the tow guy.
Maintenance guy found out he wasn’t as important as he thought he was. You really can keep it professional brother!!! 🇺🇦☮️✌🏻

Johnny, I don't know how you're able to stay so calms when you're getting grief from the resident AND from a supposed "head maintenance" guy. They're all trying to yank your chain and you remained calm, matter-of-fact period. I probably would've lost my cool at some point.

I don't know how you stay so calm.
You handled this situation like a Boss Johnny… that Maintenance guy is corrupt.
Keep doing what you doing and stay safe out there Johnny and keep the awesome videos coming brother
I love how you take the time to explain to them that the towing isn't at your discretion. It also never gets old that they order you to put their car down and get one of the other cars on your list instead. Blows my mind when they tell you "You're not taking my car anywhere". I'm just surprised that sometimes you don't answer back and say "Oh, I'm not, Watch me". Thank you, Johnny. GOD bless you and keep you safe. GOD bless America!
More or less wanted to drive off with it too. He's not that dumb. Told them that car is first, most likely the property manager knows they would drive off.
Bruh I would not have stayed to shoot the breeze with randos.
Patience of a damn saint
You were super patient. Everyone has a story. Probably better off just towing stuff as fast as you can and letting the people tell their story to the yard where the cars are stored.
Wow I can't believe that maintenance guy! Great job for keeping your cool even after he spoke to your coworker on the phone like that. You take much in your stride good job mate. Stay safe
Sounds like the manager needs to inform her maintenance people on what’s going on. As always Johnny you were polite and I’m really glad the other people did as well. Stay safe and God Bless
I love when he says, “Oh, sh*t, here we go”. Johnny knew there was trouble coming! The women claims she didn’t know the tag wasn’t right. It’s possible she didn’t but that’s doubtful. The maintenance man wanted to be the hero to the woman. He was out of line.
Maintenance man probably been squashing her while her man is at work.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Your videos are full of exemplary professionalism.
Im sure buddy wouldn't mind helping her get the car back being as though he's so dedicated to his job of keeping the residents with reliable transportation. But he better budget wisely seeing it might be his last paycheck. I bet he doesn't put that much passion into keeping those units up to par.
You handled that really well Johnny it is common sense that you don't put the wrong tag on a vehicle for any reason that is automatic tow.
The maintenance man was out of line completely since he isn't the one that makes the decisions.
Keep up the great work my friend
The lack of communication caused that situation to escalate. The maintenance supervisor was stepping a little out of line with his demanding, all could have been avoided if he had called the property manager. He could have asked you to give him a few minutes to verify the car was on the tow list. He either didn’t know or was pulling a fast one on Johnny.
He is Maintenance, the removal / towing of cars has absolutely nothing to do with him!
"OK, well let me take it back to my dealer." I laughed out loud at that one
Tell the maintenance man it's none of his business. Bud out.
GREAT job Johnny!!! Awesome snapshot of what your everyday life looks like.
Remember:
Cars get towed,
People get mad,
Life goes on.
I have a lot of respect for what you do. I have seen almost all of your videos. I don't think I could be as courteous and decent as you are while you do a tough job. Thank you for doing the best you can in many awkward situations.
And know that this is coming from someone whose spouses car got towed once. Sometimes it's warranted.
You're a good man. Deep respect to you Johnny.
omg the maintenance guy thinks he is in charge..arguing and using shady language on the phone..apparently he thinks he knows everything ,,haha was a pleasure to see him shut down
Johnny didn’t seem like he was in the mood today. His facial expressions said it all. Patience of a saint Johnny. I’d lose my mind on these people. God bless you.
Your videos bring back so many old memories! My friend did towing in the poor areas of Montreal (at night!) for $15 a car back when I was unemployed, and he would bring me to watch his back in exchange for a pack of cigarettes and a couple double cheeseburgers! Turns out that people are a lot more polite when a big guy is smoking in the shadows watching VS just a solo guy with his back turned trying to hook a car!
Why doesn't the company give you cards to give to people with the address and phone number of the tow yard?
😜
too easy
In a few videos (super low numbered ones) Johny had cards to give out. I do not know how many he tows in a day, but he would probably have to give out about 10 cards a day. ards are not free to print, and with COVID, finding print shops to print cards (correctly) is still kind of tough. I go through about 500 a year (two boxes), and I am told by my boss that the price has doubled in the last year.
@@rkeround2itindustries892
Would be cheaper than tearing off the top of his multi part work order/ receipts like he has done in many videos.
Costco does 'em for cheap -- $22 for 500 cards. Amazon charges $17 for 100 cards.
I love being able to see the gears grind on your face while you think about what’s about to happen. Experience is everything. “Ahh shit, here we go”
This guy has way more patience than I do. There’s no way I’d survive in this industry.
The maintenance guy reckons he runs the property? How can you argue when you have fake tags? Sad state of affairs when you have to put a vest on to yank cars. Non consensual towing, that's what we do. Great tag line.
The maintenance man needs to stay out of things. Great video.
