I watched this all the way through f*** knows why but quite fascinating. Amazing roots malarkey you hauled out of there, I did not see any trees nearby - was that a trick of the video? Judging by the flow at each successive manhole it looks like there may be something amiss between the last manhole you had opened and the next one in the middle of the road.
I think I get as much satisfaction as the drain when I see the disinfectant come out at the end .

Hello. What is the instrument called that you use to grab the roots? The thing with the forks on it. I have a man hole outside my home and it is clogging up with roots.
Im assuming the disinfectant is ok for activated sludge process at local sewer plant ?

I'm still confused on why you disinfect the manhole. As soon as someone flushes its contaminated.
It's always going to have an oder. I can see using disinfectant around the exposed areas and tools but not the manhole and drains
Well as you know a manhole should always be free flowing and never backed up. So imagine one thats complety full and has been for a while and had plenty of time to mature thats really going to smell. As its gone up all the sides of the manhole where it normally wouldnt touch its best to give it a good clean to help get riid of any lingering smells.

Silly question : who pays for this kind of blockage, is it where the root starts ( the tree/ bush / grass ) or the property to which is blocked?
Property of which it’s blocked, unless in the case of wipes, you can try prove it was the other house fault and have them foot the bill.

How much psi are you using in the jet?

More greetings from the US, it’s unbelievable that you have this system for your sewage. The average American has never even seen raw sewage in the wild. Why do you Brits torture yourselves with these insane manholes?? Have to admit this is oddly entertaining.

Who pays for this job? The backup of sewage was on one person's property but the blockage was on someone else's. The people with the root should pay, or at least contribute.
Why don't you camera the pipe to see where the roots came from so the customer can easily replace the pipe
Probably cause the customer didn't ask them to.
Replacing pipework isn't cheap and looking at how that was flowing fine I would say there's no need to replace anything anyway currently.
The root looked to be growing in the manhole itself.

Deffo root left in that third manhole from where it was removed - you could hear it snap. There was water left in the third manhole at the end - why wasn’t it jetted from there to the main sewer?
@@cockerhamsands Assuming that was the last manhole before heading of to the main sewer thats the water boards responsibility. If you report an issue they have to come out and unblock / fix it for free.
