Hello from beautiful Senoia, Georgia, US of A! I am watching this again on Sept 25, 2024 at 2:04 AM, as I cannot sleep. Always enjoy your videos, Jem! I had forgotten this one & kind of reminds me of a grave, with the huge stone slab & deep hole.

Thanks for watching! Hope all is well in sunny Sweden 🌞💩😎
It’s a good service call when you use more garden tools than plumber’s tools! Almost like you need a gardener as a helper that time! Plumber’s greetings from the states gents, keep up the good fight.
Nice to hear from you Jeremy/ Jem 👍

That was great content. Monster roots!

Always have one of those loppers in the van. The short one from Lidl. Great buy for the price. One snip, job done. (like the Missus said).
Right. We just turned up on this one. Talk talk, fast walking, talk, talk. More running back to the truck. Fast talking. More speed walking. 😀😀
I watched again, and JEM pulled out the carpet of roots then loads of wipes came flowing out of the drain! 🧤😀👍🔦
Another interesting video Jen. Keep up the good work
👍👍👍

Not seen an interceptor for a while, nice work again.

He fell asleep and annoyed me with his snoring for an hour in the office 😁😁
Thanks for that Jenny 😞

Good job. Nice to see the rodding cap intact as well 😄
One of the best! Is there a part 2???
Not on this one new batteries getting delivered.
Thanks Roxanne 😁
cool❗️
Great job👍
Because of this channel I now flush my empty toilet a few times each day. Tomorrow I’m moving my large bushes that I have planted around drains 🙂. Who knew 💩 could be so entertaining 👍
6:38 this looks like a beautiful specimen Jem
I don't know about you guys but I keep a blunt edge on my shovels - it does a better job on the roots but doesn't ding up as easily as a sharp edge. I do have one that I keep sharp for roots. Good job cleaning that mess up.
Keep a set of loppers in your van for this type of job will be so much easier love your vids by the way
Roots...bloody roots
🤣🤣
Loving your little comments Jenny. Let's have more from Jetter Control x
It looked like the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb.
A good preventive maintenance every year would avoid those sudden blockages for sure.
I felt like I was gonna see Ratty and Croc on this one with all those roots
@@Tris289 George I think Ollie's van "organization" would send Jem's blood pressure thru the roof..😁
Jem would also need to practice his ALLLLL GOOOOD!
@@chrishelms1967 I agree. Jem would need a week head start to organize Ollie's van first
Ollie is a dirty mess working, get sh1t everywhere and barely cleans up
…..funnier if Jem said…. Wow this is all chockers…. Ha
Im from argentina, liverpool fc fan so... new sub here heheh
Brill Don 😁😁👍👍👍
I didn’t even realize there was brick behind the roots. I was thinking in the beginning why do they just have dirt ? Lol. I was helping you pull it. Lol
Yep, that was the most roots I know of that you've ever encountered too!
Well done Jem. Another root has met it's demise
Thanks Darren 💪💪😁😁
Good video. Raven Meols Lane Formby, 2 mins from my house.
Very nice spot Liam 👍
What is the jetter and how does it work?? Thanks and love your videos keep them coming
Tank of water the van, feeds an engine driven pump (this ones a piston pump so works quite like an engine also) which pressurises the water and sends it down the hose, this exits through the jet head which has nozzles facing backwards for forward propulsion and sometimes a front nozzle for cutting through the blockage. Check superjet or jetter conversions websites for better info. (No endorsement or promotion there are other top brands available, just the first names that came to me)
Good Wednesday evening to you all from Wellington Somerset
Hi David and glad your enjoying the video’s
Nice one, what is the second outlet pipe for that had the lid on it?
good job mate hope your back wasn’t angry with you 👍👍
Nice hot bath always does the trick 👍
You chaps should do a few recordings in the office, a day in the life of etc.
Dear Santa,
Please bring Jem a backup battery for Christmas. He promises to be a good boy.
😁😁👍
😂😂😂
You need to carry so,e loppers with you. Make short work of the roots. Love your videos. .
Great job. You need more batteries for your cameras. Aldi do a deal on garden loppers, it might be worth carrying a pair on each van. 😂
Think your right John 👍👍
I watched a few of these and always wonder. Does someone else down the line not get blocked up with what is cleared from a job?
I am watching videos old to new, so this may be something you have corrected since this video, but I have noticed your jetter a few times now having the unloader hang dead heading your pump. Maybe I will see its been fixed as I work through the videos, maybe not....we shall see. This is VERY hard on the pump internals. Nice one on this video, heck of a root ball in this one.
Every time i see one of the cameras fall down, part of me expects Jem or Andy to mumble
"Oooooh boy now i've done it, Jenny's gonna kill me"
😁😁😁
It’s like a carpet of roots ! Andy and JOE you really missed JEM at his best!😊🧤👍😓
Thanks Suzanne needed Joe to pull root out and Andy to film I could of stayed in van 😁😁😁
Didn't get a hernia after moving that stone did you Jem? "Come Jem give it a good yank" That root is a fine workout. Battery needed a break to recharge. Whoa what a mighty humongous root. Thanks Jem
Close to one Laura 😁😁👍
😂🤣 fixing the camera _ I don't want you to miss this.. .....that's a whoppa 🤭
The top drain that had the plug - what is the idea of the top drain.
It’s used to clear the last leg of the pipe, the bottom hole goes to a U bend and the top is like a rodding eye. So the interceptor is equivalent to a big gulley limits the smell from the main drain, as some older properties wouldn’t have had sink U bends and gulley traps. Now every property should have U bends and traps so the interceptor isn’t of much use, so that’s why he can remove the cap, because the smell won’t get into the building anyway.
(Hope that makes sense).
In the winter months do the drains ever freeze over?
@Nicky L thats probably true. I was thinking with leaks and all that the cold would make it down to that level.
I live in a subtropical climate, so literal freezing temps are rare...
Love the way Jem sounds like a dirty phone call when he's working hard hahaha...
Thanks for that Migel 😁😁👍
Nigel 👍
@@jetter1jem955 Love the videos mate, just banter of course...
Cool 👍👍👍
Hey Guys, over here in the States we dont have the same setup.... so forgive the lack of knowledge..... what is the purpose of the 2nd opening right above the main outlet in the manhole?? (I assume that where that round cover came from, which is even more confusing)
I believe its a rodding point
The main outlet from the channel drops into a U trap to keep sewer gases from the mains getting out. These days you can jet or cable through a U trap with a bit of a fight, but when you are using rigid rods, there is no way to clear the blockage from the downstream side of the trap except from coming up from the mains. In bigger mains, that means climbing into deep manholes and walking up deep culverts to find the exit from the property line. So they put the rodding eye above the U trap with a sealed cover on it. If the blockage is beyond the U trap, you pull open the rodding eye, shove your rods into the downstream pipe and clear it out. The cover is supposed to go back to seal the system again.
@@brucetheloon thank you
@@brucetheloon spot on, I think they are known as a Interceptor trap, from the Victorian era ( still used well after), my house has one, 3 other houses run into it as well, my house dates from 1936. There are a pain in the bum, the U trap always catching stuff. Originally there was a vent pipe ( just above ground level), thankfully replaced by a house height stench pipe. 👍
Great comments you lot 👍👍😁
I definitely would be putting something in there to get rid of the roots.
Where’s there’s muck there’s brass! That must absolutely stink! Well done you
I was in Liverpool on Monday and Tuesday this week to see Genesis at the m+s bank arena. I did seriously consider dropping off some cakes as a thank you for the entertainment but it’s seemed a bit weird to turn up like that.
Always welcome Especially when cakes on offer 😁
Believe Genesis were Brill 👍
7:42 - What is the purpose of those plugs / lids? And what is the purpose of the extra hole above the outlet hole?
Last time I checked my drains I noticed I had one and wondered if it was there by mistake. Like someone dropped a clay pot lid in my inspection point. 😂
I had to pause the video and take a shower after I fell in the manhole.
They had the amazon rainforest growing in there.😳
That cap is supposed to prevent sewer gases from filling the manhole and smelling. I noticed some were missing. That'd be a code violation here in the U.S.. Are those caps able to seal gas tight? May not be a thing over there.
OMG what a root!!!!!!
Awesome
Yeah..Quite a nice one...😅 😅 👍
Another great video , when will we get to see another repair video ?
Hopefully end of week Neil 👍
As Penetrator Blocked Drains in Australia would say roooots. Lol. 😅😅
I think a quality pair of secateurs would be a useful item in your van Gem.
4:13 When you get big thick tap roots like that it might be worth investing in some tree branch clippers. It will give the tree or bush a cleaner cut on the root and it also means alot less work for yourself instead of hacking away at it.
Probrably would have suggested to your client to move the shrubs away from the man hole cover so the roots dont keep finding there way down the drain. Great work by the way :)
I love the plugs of roots you pull out, but the TP and butt wipes? Yeah, not so much. Don't flush butt wipes, people! Lol
Ok, so someone help me out here. I have no experience in this skill / trade, but the way the jet and jet hose work is really confusing me. :) So I assume it's compressed air being blown through? But when he uses the jet, it goes further in? Like what I would think would be the wrong direction relative to the thrust. Do you see what I mean? And then he feeds the hose into a pipe like it's inflexible but it's obviously flexible. Sorry for the long post. Just very curious. :) I love the videos! Thank you!
It’s high pressure water. The head of the jet will often spray one stream forwards but multiple streams backward. Those high pressure streams of water clear blockages and can cut roots
@@brettcox8143 Ah ha! I wondered if it was something like that. Thank you!
oy your going to have to charge them for gardening to👍😂
