Stretching the Wrist and Hand

  • This particular exercise I originally learnt from my first IMA teacher - I think it belonged to some sort of Cha Quan set of jibengong. At any rate, it's super brutal and effective, one of the few exercises I've found that really focuses on how the movement of the fingers affects the forearm.
This is pretty nice for anyone to practice but I particularly recommend it for people with wrist heavy training like handbalancers and rock climbers. Of course if you're into all the internal stuff, it's also mega useful for opening the structures of the hand up.
(side note: photoshop randomly generated the rest of my head for me in the thumbnail, which was cut off in the original video. Looks weird as hell! And I look a bit stoned, which I definitely wasn't, at least not from substances :))
As usual, approach these practices only if you're willing to assume full responsibility for the outcomes, whether positive or negative. These practices are explorative in nature and so results can be unpredictable. If you're looking for safety and guarantees, it's best to look elsewhere.
