  • This episode has us moving to Launceston, a location that we had heard wasn’t worth going to. We enjoy our time in Cataract Gorge as well as taking a cruise along the Tamar River. With the autumn colours starting to come out, we spend time in Launceston’s City Park.

    Right! Who said NOT to come to Launceston?! People from Down South, no doubt!! Never heard such a ridiculous thing. Unfortunately I can't get about as I would like or could, but Lonnie is a very charming town with no less than 3-rivers at its heart, a gorge and lots of lovely independent shops and historical neighbourhoods nestled amongst the hills of vines and fruit orchards. I'm very glad you didn't listen to those negative voices - I haven't gotten to the end of your video, so don't know if you made it to Ben Lomond - you'd love that on a day like today. Up here it's almost clear blue skies, day after day - it is certainly drier than we'd like, but the colours have been glorious and I hope you went somewhere special for your Birthday. Wonder where you'll spend it next year?! Happy trails... and safe travels!

      We go up to Ben Lomond in the next video, so glad we got to see it. We were very surprised at the amount of blue sky days that we having in Tasmania while there, possibly 98% were perfect days. We have the dry season to thank for that although Tasmania does need the rain. We are planning on doing Western Australia's west coast next year, hopefully things go to plan and we get there. We have done this one before back in 2004.

    Don't forget we've been in drought for some months so water levels are not what they would normally be.

      Yes we were amazed to hear how dry it is in Tassie, something that we do not hear about on the mainland.

    Happy birthday Mick, and hello to Sally, I was told back in 2000 and something that Tasmania isn't very great in road signs to anywhere, and where there are tight bends and some one could be driving a bit to fast, it could end up becoming cemetery material, has Tasmania improved on road signs since, I hope so, thank you for your videos, they are still GREAT. Mick

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  3 месяца назад

      Thanks. Road signs are not as good as what it is on the mainland in our opinion, others may disagree with that. If everyone drove to road conditions there would be no issues with tight road bends, we didn't find any situations that were a bit risky. In saying that we always approach tight corners expecting a vehicle coming from the other way to possibly be going too fast and allow for that.

    That was a very enjoyable reminder of Launceston, our buses took us to the basin & we rode the chairlift across but walked back as I couldn't cope with another trip on it. I wasn't expecting the reaction I had as being high doesn't usually bother me but it was the length of it. We were fortunate to be there in late November & so the rhododendrons were out in full flower as well as the azaleas. The peacocks were in their full glory, so made for beautiful photos. I also enjoyed the park with the monkeys & the flowers were beautiful but they were spring plants which means that they do change them from season to season. We took the boat trip right up the Tamar & stopped at a getty to go & see the echidna's in a building, they also had another building housing seahorses but we didn't get to see those which disappointed me. Our Tassie driver showed us his house over on the river bank so he had a fair trip to work & back each day but wouldn't exchange it for the world. I do hope that you enjoyed your birthday lunch! One trip I had to Launceston we had a couple of hours to just walk around the town & explore it for ourselves which was nice as they have some lovely buildings & homes as well, the lilac trees were in full bloom & looking & smelling great!!

      We found Launceston to be so much better than what we had expected. We are hoping to do another trip to Tasmania to see the rhododendrons out in flower amongst other things, something to look forward to.

    I hope that you have enjoyed your special day for your birthday.

    I guess we can all have our good days and bad days.
    But as life goes on, we all make the most of what we can and enjoy what we've got.
    I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and please save travelling take care.

      We were a little surprised to hear while we were there that it was so dry. It is a bit different for us coming from South Australia where it is not normally as green as Tasmania. Lets hope that the seasons soon get back to normal.

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  Месяц назад

      If I am on the right track here with this one, most caravan owners have a Facebook page or something similar where the owners of the same make caravan join to form a group. We are a member of the Traveller Caravan group which has a Facebook page for owners of Traveller caravans to become a member of and share different locations that they travel to and ideas on what is better for caravan improvements.
