This is a great film of Tassie. Loving the drone shots. You would love the Gordon River cruise at Stahan. Also the Tasman peninsular has spectacular coast line and pennicot cruises can take you out along the coast to see dolfins, seals, whales and sea caves both on the peninsula and Bruny island. Three capes walk and fortesque bay are just beautiful. Also a note to anyone tempted to pat the very cute wombats on Maria Island, BEWARE they can be vicious so no touching allowed. Their looks a deceiving 😄 Happy and safe travels 💕
Hi Lil I really wanted to do the Godren River Cruise. I've seen many pictures over the years and it looks stunning. A shame time just got away from us but we'll make it someday. I've actually been out on one of Pennicot's cruises - those cliffs are epic! Would love to do the Three Capes Walk and also head to a couple more Islands. Obviously we've got no choice but to come back again pretty soon. Cheers

Hi mate I respectfully disagree with you. I’ve worked very closely with Tourism Tasmania for many years in roles marketing Australia both across Europe and in North America. I can honestly say Tourism Tasmania do an awesome job of promoting the state. They have less budget and resources than most of the other tourism boards and punch well above their weight. Internationally, destination awareness and interest in visiting is very high (relatively speaking). Domestically, it seems every man and his dog wants to move to Tassie… so I’m not sure what more someone could ask of them?
@@LifeDunnDifferently Tourist Tasmania are lazy no idea to work and develop new strategies and think outside the box. Incorrect data you must be looking at for everyman and dog wanting to move their. Lowest pay rates, diminishing health care, lower education levels, employment (compare Seek stats). Biggest export are Tasmanians between 20 to 30 for employment. Visitor information survey reports little help to determine accurate visitor movement and spend maps. They love organising self congratulating award nights. Unlike New Zealand, there is no forward thinking, dynamics or momentum. Same ol' same ol'. On a better note, Business Tasmania under Department of Growth do provide assistance and follow up but you have to go to the Premier initially.
You are comparing a state tourism board with a national tourism board... and one of the best in the world at that. Different budgets and often different remits. It sounds like most of the issues you have with Tassie are little to do with tourism. I'm not doubting the challenges your state faces. Similar problems are being faced everywhere and not enough is being done about it... but when it comes to Tourism Tasmania, they work hard and with a lot of passion. Destination marketing is very competitive. Success or failure isn't always easy to attribute and whether you like their campaigns or not (I do), TTAS are broadly recognised across the industry for the good work they do. As for the award nights and functions... well, it's one of the reasons I left the industry. It's not unique to Tasmania. You should see what it's like in the US.

Shame you didn't do Trowutta Arch while up at Stanley. I'd lived in Tassie for years and never been there until close to moving interstate, I drew up a bucket list of places yet to see and Trowutta Arch really stole the show for me. A lovely rainforest walk, but at the end, it descends into a sinkhole from a collapsed cave, then through the namesake arch into a beautiful yet somewhat scary second sinkhole far deeper than the first where a pool of black tannin-stained water fills the entrance to a flooded shaft into the earth. It had such a sense of awe to it and was just a short drive from Stanley/Smithton. The Tarkine drive that its part of also has some incredible walks and little roadside scenic spots like the Julius River Walk, Lake Chissholm (another far larger flooded sinkhole), the Sumac Lookout and more. Would also have highly recommended the Lake Gordon/Pedder area too. Very similar to the landscape at Lake Plimsoll, super wild and rugged with more amazing little walks, vantage points and of course, the Gordon Dam. In Launny, I'd have also highly recommended the Tamar Wetlands walk. Its long-ish but easily done in an hour or so at a leisurely stroll. Great visitor info centre, birdwatching points, history and of course views of a massive ship graveyard in the marshes where engineers a century ago tried to reshape the river by sinking old ships in the less navigable of the two channels that pass Tamar Island. The island has a little hill atop it which has great views and is planted with old exotic trees from when it was a popular picnic spot for leisure seekers in the Victorian era who's take the short boat ride out the city down river to it. At the Cataract Gorge, I'd also have recommended the Duck Reach Walk which is about an hour circuit from the First Basin itself. Its super scenic and takes you through to the old hydroelectric power station that's currently a little museum (all free entry). Fascinating history really. I think the final Launny pick I'd add would have been the Inveresk Precinct. Its the home of Tassie AFL (York Park Stadium), but also home to the UTAS Inveresk Campus, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (Australia's largest regional museum which loads of Launny and Tasmanian history and railway relics from when Launny was the heart of the state's rail network) and of course the Launceston Tramway Museum which runs a handful of surviving trams from the old city trams network around the precinct (and it's like gold coin entry). The trams were real works of art, all artisan crafted in Launceston 100 years ago from local hardwoods and native timbers (the council at the time considered them like status symbols almost). Launny is a great place to explore on foot really and the hilly nature means there's great views everywhere.

We lived in Tassie for 20 years and loved every minute. We only came back to Qld because my husband got sick and we came back to family. You wont be sorry, Tassie will always be our “ other” home. Its great you have a camper, best and cheapest way to see Tassie, theres always something new to see and do. Enjoy, im envious
It’s a magic place Tasmania, I’ve spent a lot of time there and will be returning again to do the bits where the weather was really bad last time, but this is what makes it awesome not far from one side to the other to get away from the rain. The only negative thing is there is not enough on Launceston it always seems to miss out if you took the time you would find there is a mirad of thing to see in the North of the Island

I am so jealous. I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive myself for not making it over to WA. Flight costs and risk of border closures were just too much for us to at that point. Great video . Next time you must visit Port Arthur and the sights of the Tasman Peninsula - spectacular scenery. I recommend Pennicott’s boat trips around Tasman Island as well for whale watching, depending on the time of year.

Your wife wiill surely enjoy & hopefully love these wee regions. I can say with hand on heart, that I am crazy about Port Arthur, regardless of it's harsh & painful history. We even visited the wee islands where many of the adult & child convicts are buried. The many headstones are amazing bits of historic architecture & you will find too, a number of famous names from back in the day. It's both very moving & amazing to witness! To stand among those who once lived and worked here feels so surreal. May their souls RIP.@@LifeDunnDifferently
Just to clear up Cradle mountain lodge is still standing the Cradle forest inn at Moina was the one that burnt down it was approx 30 kms from Cradle Mountain

Haha I can see where you’re coming from. We just travel at whatever pace we feel comfortable and is compatible with work and other commitments. Turned out we basically had 10 weekends to explore Tasmania and the rest of the time we’re just living a semi-normal life in a different place. Trying to squeeze a lot into the video probably makes it feel more rushed than it was.
I have been watching a few Tasmania clips and so far this one has been awesome. Was planning to visit London but now thinking Tasmania. We are from Norfolk Island and certain you would find our island a gem as it is the Second Convict Settlement. It has some great track walks and great weather over the November through April. You have inspired us to visit Tasmania cheaper than London and full charm and beautiful places to visit. Also thinking Motor Home Camper van.

I love Tasmania. Went there for the first time in 2021 just because I wanted to travel somewhere - anywhere! - after covid restrictions started to ease. Now I've been 4 times, and can't wait to go back. When I retire in about 10 years, my intention is to relocate from Queensland to Tassie. Wonderful place.

Fabulous definitely would like to go to Tasmania! Living in Puerto Rico we have a RAINFOREST And many beautiful beaches. We Live on a small island off of Puerto Rico called Vieques 3/4th of the island is a wildlife refuge
Your island sounds like paradise. I'd love to visit PR and when I do, Vieques is going to have to be included in the trip! However, I reckon another trip to Tassie might be on the agenda first!
Yeah must be careful of all those criminals looking for their next heist on RUclips 🤣. I know tourism comes with its trade offs, but keep in mind that visitors to Tassie inject nearly $4 billion into your economy each year.
We lived in Tassie for 20 years, first 6 in Queenstown and rest on a farm at Wilmot. Loved our life there but sadly had to return to Qld and family due to ill health. Tassie will always be our “ other” home. Next time you visit check out Wilmot “ valley of views” and the iconic “quirky letterbox’s”.

Easily the very best look at my Home State for the past 20 years. You managed to capture quite a few of the many gorgeous places and beautiful scenery. On your next trip to the North and West please consider showing Mt Roland and Lake Barrington, and take us on a trip to the Gordon River and Sarah Island. And down south there is Port Arthur, of course and the boat trips around the sheer rocky cliffs. If there is time, a day at Bathurst Harbour by plane to Melaleuca from Hobart would be good for your souls. Many thanks.

WOW!!! A new subscriber here & I have to say, you guys captured Tasmania, one of my favourite states, so very well! This so makes me want to head back to Tasmania. I spent some of my best life's days there numerous years ago. IMPHO, Tasmania, pretty much no matter where you head, is simply stunning, beautiful, divine & amazing! It's rich history, combined with gorgeous architecture & some of Australia & the world's most impressive scenery, make it a must visit, if even once in a lifetime. The food scene is also amazing & we dined @ some amazing wee restaurants. Two I personally enjoyed & loved. One was South Asian (Indian) & the other, French. Both were simply awesome! The food amazing & the staff very nice especially @ the French restaurant, where the Chef himself made an appearance & spent much time chatting with us. He even stayed until we left & said goodbye. We were touched & humbled by the overall hospitality & kindness. We've visited numerous times & hubby & I intend to move there someday & use Tassie as a home base, so we can then do some Aussie & global travel. Words cannot do justice, to how incredible Tasmania is & to how much we just love Tasmania!! You've captured Tasmania so well here & your cinematography/filming style, your narration, the beautiful & evocative music & your overall collation of images is nothing short of epic! Well done!!👏👏👏 I should also add, as avid animal lovers, our hearts just melted, when we saw all the adorable wee creatures that you guys captured on camera. So very beautiful. As a part Scandinavian woman, I always see some of my own lands/roots in this beautiful state. We're actually flying back to Scandinavia soon, but I'm thinking when we return next year & after saving some money once again, we'll head back to Tasmania & spend some special time there. Oh wow! That's great to hear. Have you visited Denmark or do you plan to visit? For me, I'm part Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, French, Italian, Spanish, Irish, Scottish, English, South Asian & so much more! lol It's a small world indeed. Interestingly, the food in Denmark is very good, but in the rest of Scandinavia, they're starting to catch up & general food is getting better for the tourist market. We used to eat very traditional dishes & mostly because of the harsh climate. We live by the seasons of the year & this is how life revolves around food production. In Lofoten Islands where my Father's ancestors hail from, they were Fisherman & fished each Winter. They can also fish in Summer, but traditionally, Winter is the main fishing season there. The cod is amazing too. I hope you guys get to Tasmania again & this time, drop by Freycinet National Park & Port Arthur. Your wife would like these places I'm sure. Very nice - some very picturesque captures - interesting review of Maria Island, too. I live up near Narawntapu which is a neat spot for wildlife watching around sunset - you can glide across in a boat or kayak from Port Sorell if so inclined. Happy travels & thanks for sharing.

At the Cataract Gorge, I'd also have recommended the Duck Reach Walk which is about an hour circuit from the First Basin itself. Its super scenic and takes you through to the old hydroelectric power station that's currently a little museum (all free entry). Fascinating history really. I think the final Launny pick I'd add would have been the Inveresk Precinct. Its the home of Tassie AFL (York Park Stadium), but also home to the UTAS Inveresk Campus, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (Australia's largest regional museum which loads of Launny and Tasmanian history and railway relics from when Launny was the heart of the state's rail network) and of course the Launceston Tramway Museum which runs a handful of surviving trams from the old city trams network around the precinct (and it's like gold coin entry). The trams were real works of art, all artisan crafted in Launceston 100 years ago from local hardwoods and native timbers (the council at the time considered them like status symbols almost). Launny is a great place to explore on foot really and the hilly nature means there's great views everywhere.

Its great you have a camper, best and cheapest way to see Tassie, theres always something new to see and do. Enjoy, im envious

It’s a magic place Tasmania, I’ve spent a lot of time there and will be returning again to do the bits where the weather was really bad last time, but this is what makes it awesome not far from one side to the other to get away from the rain. As a Tasmanian boy, being able to fly to Perth to see the win, OMG, supporting for 35 years. It IS a grand old flag.
I am so jealous. I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive myself for not making it over to WA. Flight costs and risk of border closures were just too much for us to at that point. Despite never living in Melbourne I've been a member all my adult life... what a game it turned out to be. Let's hope 2023 delivers something similar!!

Great video . Next time you must visit Port Arthur and the sights of the Tasman Peninsula - spectacular scenery. I recommend Pennicott’s boat trips around Tasman Island as well for whale watching, depending on the time of year.

Your wife wiill surely enjoy & hopefully love these wee regions. I can say with hand on heart, that I am crazy about Port Arthur, regardless of it's harsh & painful history. We even visited the wee islands where many of the adult & child convicts are buried. The many headstones are amazing bits of historic architecture & you will find too, a number of famous names from back in the day. It's both very moving & amazing to witness! To stand among those who once lived and worked here feels so surreal. May their souls RIP.@@LifeDunnDifferently

Just to clear up Cradle mountain lodge is still standing the Cradle forest inn at Moina was the one that burnt down it was approx 30 kms from Cradle Mountain

We just travel at whatever pace we feel comfortable and is compatible with work and other commitments.
Turned out we basically had 10 weekends to explore Tasmania and the rest of the time we’re just living a semi-normal life in a different place.
Trying to squeeze a lot into the video probably makes it feel more rushed than it was.

I have been watching a few Tasmania clips and so far this one has been awesome. Was planning to visit London but now thinking Tasmania.
We are from Norfolk Island and certain you would find our island a gem as it is the Second Convict Settlement. It has some great track walks and great weather over the November through April.
You have inspired us to visit Tasmania cheaper than London and full charm and beautiful places to visit.

I love Tasmania. Went there for the first time in 2021 just because I wanted to travel somewhere - anywhere! - after covid restrictions started to ease. Now I've been 4 times, and can't wait to go back. When I retire in about 10 years, my intention is to relocate from Queensland to Tassie. Wonderful place.

Fabulous definitely would like to go to Tasmania! Living in Puerto Rico we have a RAINFOREST And many beautiful beaches. We Live on a small island off of Puerto Rico called Vieques 3/4th of the island is a wildlife refuge

We lived in Tassie for 20 years, first 6 in Queenstown and rest on a farm at Wilmot. Loved our life there but sadly had to return to Qld and family due to ill health. Tassie will always be our “ other” home. Next time you visit check out Wilmot “ valley of views” and the iconic “quirky letterbox’s”.

They can be but not always. We've just spend April - August back in Tasmania and had no issues with dangerous tracks.

Easily the very best look at my Home State for the past 20 years. You managed to capture quite a few of the many gorgeous places and beautiful scenery. On your next trip to the North and West please consider showing Mt Roland and Lake Barrington, and take us on a trip to the Gordon River and Sarah Island. And down south there is Port Arthur, of course and the boat trips around the sheer rocky cliffs. If there is time, a day at Bathurst Harbour by plane to Melaleuca from Hobart would be good for your souls. Many thanks.

WOW!!! A new subscriber here & I have to say, you guys captured Tasmania, one of my favourite states, so very well!
This so makes me want to head back to Tasmania. I spent some of my best life's days there numerous years ago.
IMPHO, Tasmania, pretty much no matter where you head, is simply stunning, beautiful, divine & amazing! It's rich history, combined with gorgeous architecture & some of Australia & the world's most impressive scenery, make it a must visit, if even once in a lifetime.
The food scene is also amazing & we dined @ some amazing wee restaurants. Two I personally enjoyed & loved. One was South Asian (Indian) & the other, French. Both were simply awesome! The food amazing & the staff very nice especially @ the French restaurant, where the Chef himself made an appearance & spent much time chatting with us. He even stayed until we left & said goodbye. We were touched & humbled by the overall hospitality & kindness.
We've visited numerous times & hubby & I intend to move there someday & use Tassie as a home base, so we can then do some Aussie & global travel. Words cannot do justice, to how incredible Tasmania is & to how much we just love Tasmania!!

I should also add, as avid animal lovers, our hearts just melted, when we saw all the adorable wee creatures that you guys captured on camera. So very beautiful.
As a part Scandinavian woman, I always see some of my own lands/roots in this beautiful state.
We're actually flying back to Scandinavia soon, but I'm thinking when we return next year & after saving some money once again, we'll head back to Tasmania & spend some special time there.

Oh wow! That's great to hear. Have you visited Denmark or do you plan to visit? For me, I'm part Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, French, Italian, Spanish, Irish, Scottish, English, South Asian & so much more! lol It's a small world indeed. Interestingly, the food in Denmark is very good, but in the rest of Scandinavia, they're starting to catch up & general food is getting better for the tourist market. We used to eat very traditional dishes & mostly because of the harsh climate. We live by the seasons of the year & this is how life revolves around food production. In Lofoten Islands where my Father's ancestors hail from, they were Fisherman & fished each Winter. They can also fish in Summer, but traditionally, Winter is the main fishing season there. The cod is amazing too. I hope you guys get to Tasmania again & this time, drop by Freycinet National Park & Port Arthur. Your wife would like these places I'm sure. You guys are simply wonderful & I'm a new follower.@@LifeDunnDifferently

Very nice - some very picturesque captures - interesting review of Maria Island, too. I live up near Narawntapu which is a neat spot for wildlife watching around sunset - you can glide across in a boat or kayak from Port Sorell if so inclined. Happy travels & thanks for sharing.
