I just moved to Tasmania from northern NSW . I wanted to get away from the heat and humidity.
i bought a house overlooking a white sandy beach for less than $350K.
Absolutely love the seafood, wines and food here.
People are friendly and have time to say hello.
    My best decision ever.

Plus we don't get cyclones or major earthquakes so that's also a plus. My wife and I fell in love with Tasmania in 1998 and have returned to visit six, maybe seven times since. We have brought family and friends and all have loved it. I know some of you think these people are nuts but the story of our love for Tassie has a connection to where we live in the States. We live in Albuquerque, NM. New Mexico and like Tassie gets no respect. The state of New Mexico lies between Texas and Arizona. It is part of the United States but try telling that to East Coast snobs. When our daughter went back east to college and told people where she was from they wanted to know the exchange rate for currency!!!! Maps of the United States have been published showing the border of Texas aligning with the eastern border of Arizona. It wasn't until "Breaking Bad" was televised that the rest of the country realized we were a US state. A little exaggeration but not much.
