In #FM22, we created a 4-2-3-1 replicating Jurgen Klopps 4-2-3-1 at Dortmund. This FM22 tactic plays high-intensity football and is counter-based! Dortmund attacked with a rather narrow shape. Dortmund would often build up their play through one side of the pitch. Their goal was to break through on this side or to regain possession after losing the ball with their compact shape. In this video, we'll analyse their pressing dominant tactic and create our own version in Football Manager 2022.

Here’s a challenge. Try and recreate Simeone’s old style of play (more defensive, low block, 442). Every time I try to recreate it it doesn’t go so well.
Would also love to see that tactic. For it to work its depended on players with high concentration, positioning and composure. Defending deep you need players not to just lump it forward and composure helps.
Would love this. Apparently it's not possible to recreate simeone 2013-2014 tactics. The ME doesn't reward you for solid defensive footy. It only rewards you for possession or geggenoress tactics.

@@Sisti_banana The issue isnt solid defense, the bigger issue is that because we cant change roles/shape depending on attacking versus defending we cant really mimic the way that Simeone's low blow 442 transitions to attack so you end up absorbing way to much pressure without a way to use that force to lash back out against them.
When you defend deeper, you can afford to be more aggressive with roles and mentality. I made a low-block system with Stoke, it had 2 defend duties, and the counters were devastating.

Great content!! Can you also recreate attacking, possesion-based 4231 that was once popular in late 2000s & early 2010s.. e.g. City under Mancini & Pellegrini, Pep's Bayern, Arsenal with Cazorla, Ozil playing midfield
I am usingg this tactic but with a 4-3-3 with my ajax save so far results are good hopefully it saves my job

Possibly! I did already "predict" a 433 that Ralph would use when he joined but for sure will look to tweak and make a vid focussed on that

Great video RDF! Out of interest, did you play your cautious tactic during the season, and what were the results? I see that when you show a match you don't make any subs. I'm guessing that when you are doing the season in full you don't watch the highlights and have a very fast game to get through the quantity quickly. How did you find the player's injuries or fatigue during the season?
I'm doing that. And, tbf, i'm fine. Just not having the results in the Prem. But, the UEL and the cups are being pretty solid even with a 3rd string super Newcastle. But, isn't so distant of the real Borussia in terms of quality. In cautious, we overplay the Manchester duo, Chelsea (bringing' Tuchel down in the process) and sometimes even the master Klopp himself. But, in games that I have to assevere certain dominance, we failed hard. Two games in special: Against Burnley, a harsh defeat 0-1 and against Southampton, a frustrating 0-0. But, in these games, we're getting likes of 2.0, 1.5 xG. But, it's football. In the end, if you don't put the ball into the net, none of these statistics say something.
I test the tactic without seen the video. So, we're playing cautious all the time.
I decided to try this tactic in my save. I was playing 4-2-3-1 earlier, but the instructions were different. In the first match, 4th minute, my center back got red card XD I've won this match eventually, but it was funny.

The tactic I downloaded looks like the cautious version of the 4-2-3-1; do you have the attacking one?
Is there a specific reason you've gone for an AM(At) in the #10 role and added Takes More Risks/Dribble More/Moves Into Channels as PIs rather than just picking a Shadow Striker (which has Takes More Risks/Dribbles More/Moves Into Channels hardcoded)? Only difference I can see is that the SS has a higher level of pressing intensity when team pressing intensity is maxed out (Balanced vs Less Often for the AM(At).
