    Literally just fell while skating! Glad you talk about the psychological part of falling because my body is ok but ego is definitely bruised. I'm happy I started skating again but it is hard to be back in the rink and not be as good as I was.

    1:21 actually 😅 when I first started out and I fell like 6 times, I said i wanted to fall so I could figure out how to fall safely. And it worrrrrked
    Also, if you cant touch your toes to get low, do your best to put your chest to your knees! I found that that works for me. When I got low (I still fell but) I was able to fall back on purpose, so i could fix myself and get back up

One thing that helps me to minimize my amount of falling is to constantly remind myself to keep a bend in my knees - at least that helps me fall forward but I'm also more stable. Why are you so damn awesome!? 🌟🌟🌟 I am a new skater, only a couple of months in and let’s just say my bones are the youngest LOL, so the thought of falling especially with a previous severe back injury scares the living crap out of me. I understand now why you say within 3 seconds get up. You can’t let fear creep in, and that’s just what happened to me. Thank you so much for getting in another video that’s so helpful coupled with your personality which is absolutely hilarious! Could you make a video on learning how to skate in a crisscross pattern? I’m not sure if that makes sense. I’ve also heard it called braiding. Thx!

I was telling her how much I am thoroughly informed join your videos. And that you have this ability to bring so much passion and energy while explaining things. And that you have such a gift for breaking things down step-by-step so that the mechanics are so easily understood and conveyed through a video without being directly with you in real time. Just because someone is highly skilled it does not mean that they can convey that knowledge in a way that somebody who is brand new can understand and apply it. Thanks for this. I skate at the Interskate rink in Lewisville, TX, where the guy who runs the skate shop, Mo, says he knows you and skated derby with you, and another rink rat regular, Brian, grew up skating at FVSC as a kid. Our whole little family takes the skate lessons at our rink here in north TX every Saturday, and the instructors showed us how to get up using the hand on knee and just powering up method. Great video - I just subscribed! It would be awesome if you talked about how to stop fast! I'm really a street skater but I'm sure some techniques could transfer from the rink to the street. One of the reasons I'm skating is to have an embodying experience in which I feel connected and in control of my body. @@Dirtydeborahharry I sit at my desk. With all seriousness, I keep watching your videos to nail down the basics. Your explanations are simple and concise. I wish you could witness my progress. Im mastering crossovers going left and right. Falling all the time is what happens at my level and I dont care anymore. Getting up can be tricky so this video is very important to me. You're a great instructor!

    THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I'm now sharing this with all of my daughters' friends. Most of them have never skated before or have only gone once or twice and this is the reason many of them don't! "What if I fall?" Me and my girls, "If you're not falling, you're not learning!" (Usually said in unison. LOL) "You just get up and keep going." :)

I don't want to say a whole lot I think I sent you like a 14,000 page email one time but what I do want to say is you are amazing I thank you so much for everything you do and the way that you present it I'm just so in all of you. And those of us who are bigger and thicker thighs we appreciate you even more so I just wanted to say thank you.

    Love all of your videos! Something about the way you explain things really resonates with me. I've been struggling with laterals and t-pushes. Could you share some tips on that? Thank you for doing this!

    • @Dirtydeborahharry
      @Dirtydeborahharry  6 лет назад

      First off … thank you. I appreciate your support. I will make a "t-start" video but for reference now, watch the "t-stop" video. When you come to a "t-stop", bend both knees, lean forward and push. When you say laterals, can you be more specific?

    • @sunnydayze7946
      @sunnydayze7946 5 лет назад

      For roller derby, I'm trying to perfect moving between lanes (1-2-3-4) while keeping my hips squared and facing forward. My leaguemates do these push-offs they call t-pushes, but I am having a hard time opening my hips up properly and keeping my hips facing right.

    I like the way you describe momentom. example, I look my feet all the time when I skate. " don't look your feet. "You give your feet performance excity" makes smile, and try to look up. thanks

    • @Dirtydeborahharry
      @Dirtydeborahharry  5 лет назад

      YES! Your feet walk you around all the time. They do not need you staring at them in order for them to do their job. :)
