To all the beginning skaters out there...I was you in early March right before quarantine! YOU CAN DO IT!! Just practice every day even if only for a few minutes. The few days I have taken off do exercise to improve my balance and lower body strength. One you get it skating is one of the MOST rewarding things EVER!!!

I got my skates about a month ago, but I've only had a chance to practice a handful of times and always felt so discouraged by how much I would fall. Tonight I took a different approach and just practiced weight distribution by practicing bubbles and it's the first time I haven't busted ass every 5 seconds. I feel like something FINALLY clicked and I finished the practice session feeling so excited and motivated to keep learning. 10/10 agree!! Do not give up! All of us learn at a different pace and don't feel ashamed to wear protective gear until you're confident in your skills. You got this!!

Some added points for beginners from a recent begginer. Even though the video makes it simple, it is not necessarily easy. Skating wakes up some muscles that may not have much strength. Every practice session helps even if you tire quickly. Skates are heavy. This is fun work.

I just watched this before to go to a parking lot and I've found something which my help. I explain.
Ok, beginner here (did in lines 20 years ago and retaking roller SKATES) i literally had only 3 or 4 sessions in the rink and 2 on parking lot (one i couldn't even move from the car 😂 and the other one today)...
So what i did is... I just went to the roller rink today, fell better with the actually roller skating part + bubbles/lemons (whatever it is called) again and again. But my knee started to hurt so I've decided to stop after maybe 3 hours or so (i took breaks though)... In my car I've thought "well, you know what? I finally seem to have the main part down so let's try on a parking lot again). I've found one way smoother than my first one (the one i couldn't move on) and i put my skates on. It was scary, and terrible but i could "skate" (if you can call it that way 😂) and did few bubbles/lemons thingies... So maybe this will help others like me. Just do it once you are in the groove...
(I practice about once a week so far 😭, i know it's not enough but i will more once i can get out of the rink 😂😂😂)
(Just don't forget your helmet too and hydration on those hot days) 💕

I just got skates since walking distances is really hard for me. I used to figure skate and have inline skates and figured it’d be the same. I could NOT have been more wrong. Having balanced wheels is so much harder! I look like a toddler with my legs out wide and arms out for balance.
Thanks so much for these videos! There aren’t many skate coaches in Wisconsin and we only have roads to skate.

Hi Deb, I really enjoy watching your videos, even though I already know how to skate :P! I was wondering if you could make a video on how to use your toe-stops and how to balance on them. I've been getting better at using the toe-stops, but I can't balance and walk very well on them.

On the back of this video I went for my first proper outdoor skate, thank you so much! I had you voice in my head, so I got lower and tried to look optimistically into the distance and I stayed upright the whole time 🤩 Loving your videos, they have helped me so much.
Also, 'It's perfectly ok to talk about skaing all day long', I'll let my husband know, he is currently living this!

i just got my skates yesterday and even though i don’t have protective gear (which i will get next time i’m at the store) i wanted to get out and practice (i ended up practicing with a walker i found in my garage till i get the feel of the skates and my safety gear) i don’t know if that’s okay to do but this really helped me start getting the hang of the movements

Hi from Sydney! I am 55 and i still want to do a skate because in my head I keep telling myself im only 15. All my friends told me I should not do it because of my age but I really want to. I used to skate with my friends when im in high school and i feel like i need to bring back that memories when the wind blows to my body and i feel like im flying. I’ve been planning to get a pair of roller skate for a week and i think im going to get one soon. I hope I don’t break my bones and landing to the ground with my face instead of my feet. 😅

You can do this! One thing I suggest, do a lot of getting down on the floor and getting back up. Watch this video: ruclips.net/video/4o6xQCkDbS0/видео.html The more you practice this movement of practicing getting down on the ground and getting up, the better your mind/body will deal with it when it happens.

Hi Dirty. I have my second lesson on Wednesday. I am gonna try your techniques and I will let you know on here how I do! (My first lesson @ Rink in NJ did not go well at all. They had us marching on the rink which did NOTHING for me at all. I'm gonna try your way, which makes MUCH MORE SENSE, and let see what happens!

First day of skating and took about an hour just to stand up without a patio chair for balance. It’s so tricky to try and keep focused on finding my balance when switching feet. I’m still working on just moving lol. I’m surprised at how tired my legs were also! Hopefully I will progress to be able to do these little tips.

I only started 10 days ago. Im just trying balance, standing, and a few steps at home on the carpet only. I think my legs are strong enough as I cycle and weight train a lot, but everything so far sucks. I decided I'm not going onto a flat surface until I feel comfortable to do so. Is this a right theory? I've learned (try to learn with average to above average success) a language, guitar and bass and even left everything here once to live in a foreign country, but I think this is the most daunting thing I've ever done. If I don't get any success or if I hurt myself the skates are going in the trash can
