Hm... I was first one to order my 6800 XT powercolor from my store, so mine is packed and sent today. If the retailers followed AMDs captcha/antibots/scalpers u did have a big chance if u was on time.
in my country, the sellers all just went "we didnt get enough stock to feel good about even offering up the ability to buy them" except for one, who allowed you to pre-order the 6800 xt for 999 euro (almost 1200 usd)
@@Zarozh If your lucky enough that your retailer actually got any from AMD. In the country i live in only a couple of test samples have been send to the tech reviewers but the retailers haven't received any 6800/xt so far.
@@senpaipugs report them to AMD, all those shops are going to get blacklisted by AMD for future releases, they whole point with this release was to get these products into customers hands and keep em from scalpers. If the stores scalp themselfs they will get fucked

Why would you want Motion Blur or Film Grain in the first place? Both functionalities makes it harder to see stuff. I hated it it over 10 years ago. I still hate it now. So I guess I'm with Steve from GN on this one.

I recently got my first AMD CPU and GPU. I personally actually prefer the Radeon graphics software. I really like the features and settings you can play with. I prefer it over the Nvidia experience
I prefer native gaming on amd and I always will the pure power really helps. Imo without dlss or ajy extra ai processing added amd will always win to me. I hate over processed images with jaggie lines. I think people have forgotten what relasitic sharpness is. People talk about color accuracy well reference viewers on movies also turn off extra processing as we want that normal image. You can always see an over processed image. To me dlss and even super resolution feels over processed. I just hate it boosts fps while adding different processing. I get people wsnt to point what looks better or not but it's not the best imo. So amd for me all day for native gaming lol
@@reviewforthetube6485 You can't tell the difference between native 4k and dlss 4k, even with a trained ai. It only starts to fall apart the lower you go in resolution.
What I really want to know is, do you really dislike dlss because it distorts quality (at lower resolutions)? Or deep down do you dislike dlss because you feel like getting free performance while increasing resolution is like "cheating" and blocks AMD from competing fairly?
@@angrysocialjusticewarrior I'll take back everything I said. I pulled the trigger on the 3090ti! I take it all back I clearly only used dlss first gen. Now it's really really good. I still prefer native rven on my 3090ti but the benefits of fps from dlss and still getting very close to native is very nice. I really do love the hardware acceleration on nvidia. So yes I take back what I said it's Def much more polished now. I legit just got my 3090ti lol also native gaming on my 3090ti beats out the 6900xt so I'm happy af! Idc about price I'll pay for the best if it really is the best. As you see I'll be honest also if it is that good which it is. I'll just wait for the 5000 series to upgrade now also lol.

Hello Jay, thank you for including 1080p too in your tests. Unfortunately most of the other reviewers did not include 1080p in their tests for some unknown reasons when the Steam survey clearly showed that a big majority of players are in fact still on 1080p. People act like if you're buying an RTX 3080 or 6800 XT to play on 1080p then there's something wrong with you, when there are 240hz and soon to be available 360hz monitors on the market.
Honestly yeah I was surprised to see him include 1080p, there's nothing wrong with 1080p at all it still looks amazing, I recent upgraded to a 1440p monitor and would only recommend it if your ready for an upgrade because you're paying roughly the same price for the monitors so might as well get the 1440p monitor.

I was recently watching a vid by a fighter pilot and maintenence came up in a viewer question.
The pilot explained that even with fighter jets, if the pilot flags an issue, maintenence will ask, "did you try turning it (whatever system) off and on again?"
Apparently, this universal fix is only surpassed by jumping!
@@Texas240 That's because pilots are idiots sometimes and will break a jet claiming that their "targeting pod is not working," then maintenance gets to tell them over comms, "Ma'am, you don't have a targeting pod and never did." Or my favorite, "Does not work in official mode." /smh. You don't believe how many times the issue is just, "turn it on sir/ma'am." To be fair, they have so many little switches EVERYWHERE in those cockpits so I don't doubt that it's very easy to miss a switch.

@@patrickh92able I have yet to see a single video from GN that did not deliver the information promised in the title or thumbnail (if you can find some examples then please share with the class) GN's videos are about raw repeatable, and verifiable metrics. GN (Steve specifically) wants the audience to understand what the numbers mean, not just this thing makes frame rate go up by 2. (even though fps has little practical realization outside of seeing the metrics where very few people would be able to spot a difference of 2 fps if both are consistent)
if you can point to a point where he as "been proven false way before he became noticed" again please share examples with the class. there are several electrical engineers at PC hardware creation that not only hold Steve's channel in positive regard, but have congratulated

Jay, you should use Radeon Image Sharpening when you turn down the render resolution! It might not look as good as DLSS but it helps a lot and it works in all DX12 games.

@@paulboulter3726 its a short term move and goes against brand loyalty in middle and long terms but mostly when realizing they were ripped off. So in the second move the same customer is going to wait and benchmark leading to a more rational buy. So nvidia enjoy your 5 minutes of fame.

R9 290 problems
Personally, I frame limit to 20fps on purpose in most games, at otherwise maxed out settings. I play on a GTX 1070. My card isn't even trying most of the time.

@@fewik8567 because I'm visually impaired and get migraines easily, and it's surprisingly easier to use a screen that has a consistently low frame rate than to have vast fluctuations in frame rate.
Plus, my card is rendering in the highest possible details of the given game and not heating up or shortening it's life faster.
In addition to that, my frame rate doesn't need to be competitive; I don't do PvP. I'm a casual sight-impaired gamer who plays to have fun, and getting my blind ass handed to me constantly isn't fun.
That's why.
So Newegg went out of stock instantly. Didn't even appear on Amazon or Walmart.
My guess is, scalpers and bots feasted on this launch too.
Edit: Seeing that clock speed bug brings back flashbacks to my 6 horrible months after getting my 5700 XT where I had the exact same issue in the majority of my games before a driver update in MAY 2020 fixed it. I'm smelling another launch full of driver issues that will take forever to get fixed. Not that disappointed now that scalpers potentially saved me from reliving that experience.

scalpers are not the problem. the problem are utter idiots paying the prices they ask. the second they are stuck with their entire inventory scaling is no longer interesting and dies out. greed is always the issue and greed makes people buy this crap for insane prices. those people are the issue.

Honestly AMD being absolutely destroyed in RT tests doesn't surprise me, I think they'll have much better RT tech with 7000 series. As this is their first try at it
Agreed, Seeing the improvements they made in matching Nvidia's top end GPUs this gen, makes me think its possible they would come very close in next gen in RT, even if Nvidia would've made improvements by then
This reminds me of AMDs DX11 Tesselation on the 5000 HD cards. Not as good as Nvidia but enough for me to jump on board with a 5670HD. By the time I got my 7870HD AMD was just as good if not better. In 2-3 years well have a lot more DXR games and by then both AMD and Nvidia will have mature support.
I said this when everyone was saying they were bailing on nvidia and going amd because of stock issues. And then I got ripped a new one by those fanboys cause they swore it'll be as good or better.
And finally upgrade the fucking hardware encoder to something better than a 2010 garbage
With a year of hindsight, Nvidia's ray-tracing hardware IS better, don't get me wrong, but it was nowhere even CLOSE to as far ahead as it initially looked at the RX 6000 series launch!!!
Every single game with real-time RT at that time had been explicitly designed on, for, & with Nvidia's RTX GPU's, and thus its RT hardware. Since the RDNA 2 based next-gen consoles arrived though we are seeing more & MORE games w/ RT optimized for RDNA 2 instead (games like Dirt 5, Godfall, & Far Cry 6 for example), which MASSIVELY closes the RT performance gap with Nvidia (& in more & more titles like the prev. mentioned FC6, basically completely, actually)

I really liked your view on the progress AMD went through with your look on VEGA and Radeon7. I enjoy your videos Jay. Would it be possible with you do comparisons like this do a Cost per frame stat? I know that prices flex, but that information is just as important and maxing out the frame rate. No one does it and its would be helpful. thank you Jay.
That would be very hard since while similar the GPU's are not the same. They are different in architecture and games are programmed to use both. Both they are never as optimized for one as the other. Normally that difference is fairly minor but both Nividea and AMD make deals with developers to put more money into optimizing so with a handful of games the difference is quite significant.
Certain features can greatly add performance to some games and be absolutely useless in others.

when every game has it? AMD HAS to have a better or equal solution (they’re working on super resolution, but since it’s their first gen, I think without a doubt it’ll be worse than NVIDIA) or else DLSS 2.0 will just dominate it (which will make it the more appealing and better option of the two) even if RDNA 2 has better raw performance

Hi Jay,
actual RX 6800 owner here. If I activate performance tuning in Wattman the default profile is: Automatic Default like it should be and not Quiet mode. Maybe it's a press driver issue here.
Card is fantastic, btw. Everything is stable on driver level except the Control FPS-drop. I think it's just a focus problem here. Alt-Tabbing did help afair. Unless you change settings it will run on highest core clocks.
Haven't tried to oc, though.
And please try the XT bios on the RX 6800. It would help me a lot. I don't want to brick the GPU but to some how increase max voltage. I also would like to see memory voltage uplift in the near future but I imagine it will not be possible quite a while.

At the 18:53 part of the video I am experiencing the same issue, but with cod warzone. The gpu will be at 99% but the gpu clocks stay stuck low like in the video. Though If I alt-tab out of the game and back into it, it will usually ramp the clocks back up properly and work fine.

@jayz try switching the monitor to 120hz and see what happens to the VRAM clock. Yea, you're seeing right. 144hz is locking the VRAM clock, while 120 hz lets it auto adjust.
