RENOVATING A RUIN: DIY Nursery Furniture, Bathroom Build Begins, Third Trimester Pregnant in Italy

- This week we had storms, lots of workmen starting on building the dream stone bathroom, continuing chaos as I live through a very humid third trimester in a house that's turned into a construction site, and my parents and I build some rustic pieces, including a DIY baby changing table and wardrobe stand for the new nursery.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

It's wonderful to see the baby furniture been made with love by your Dad and to such high standards. He is a master at carpentry. What a blessing to have your parents there to support you.
To see the floor in the bathroom almost ready for tile must have been so thrilling!! Having your parents with you must help so much with all the insanity going on in your home. They are a pool of calm in all the chaos. Kudos to you for all your work to show us your life. We all appreciate all that you do 🥰 We hope that you will take the time you need when the bambino arrives to rest and spend precious time with your family. I am a September baby and my mother told me that it was the hottest summer on record, when she was pregnant with me. That was in 1958!! The smell of the air after the rain swept through must have been wonderful!
After that storm, everything looked so clean and bright outside. I love your parents so much! What a talented family you are. Your home is going to be so spectacular, new but ancient, when it is done! The furniture your dad made for the baby is wonderful. It has that old world feel. So much better than Amazon or Ikea. Thank you for showing the sometimes not-so-glamourous side of living in old Italian buildings. Sometimes people think it's all romance and olives...but it's a different lifestyle. It's hard, and it's a real commitment! Your mom is a genius! I love the design of the changing table! Yes! Most people end up taking to the bed to change the baby, because it IS easier to change the diapers head-on!

So much rain but much needed I think. After a while with so many projects going on you just have to surrender to the chaos. Your parents are the best help anyone could have and the love put into the changing table is a family heirloom to be treasured. The changing table design should be the norm for all changing tables, straight-on looking into baby's eye as you communicate! And did you do that subtle baby blue sponging on the walls too? Kylie - you get extra points for doing all of this in such brutal heat and humidity - while pregnant - which everyone knows adds 10 degrees to your internal temperature!!! You are one amazing woman! Your eye is on the prize though, and you and Guido are slowly but surely building an incredible home for yourselves and your little one. Your patience and diligence are truly rare. Complete respect for you - and your adorable parents (which we all wish we had!) Can't wait to meet your beautiful little bambino soon and sending lots of prayers and hugs your way for a smooth and wonderful delivery!
Even though it feel like chaos right now the end result will be truly wonderful! This must be frustrating because nesting at the end of pregnancy is a gravitational pull like no other. I adore the changing table and clothing tree you and your parents created. The design of the changing table is on point as this will be much easier to change your baby. It's a bit unusual but during the scenes when your dad was cutting the wood for the changing table I literally felt the smell of freshly cut wood... It's one of my favourite smells.

I envy you the storms. I lived in the Midwest (USA) for years and I so miss those big storms! God moving his furniture! (Now I"m in dry, hot western Colorado.) The changing table is wonderful as is the entire room - so romantic and calming and charming and old-fashioned it brought a tear to my eye (silly, I know). Your choice of music was much appreciated - I used to play that myself, and it's so Italian.

Hi Kylie, the nursery is so lovely and peaceful. I so envy your Mama. Mine also helped me so much when setting up my first home. Now my daughter has done the same and I was unable to spend that time and help her with all the decisions. (Due to the health problems we talked about a few weeks ago)

Dear Kylie, lovely video. Amazing changing unit, it looks perfect, isn’t it amazing that a tiny baby needs so much equipment etc.! My boys are in their thirties now but I remember how I felt before they were born. Everything had to be perfect….but all a baby needs is love, food and a cosy comfortable place to sleep. I am sure that your parents have good advice to give you, believe in their experience and you will be happy and relaxed as babies quickly pick up on stress, you will be amazing parents. The life you are living now is what I went through 35 years ago ! A house full of construction workers … keeping them well supplied with coffee and goodies …. as we restored our 1829 mansion on 10 acres ! I too was in my trimester when I feared that the baby would be brought home from the hospital to a pile of dust and rubble . When I could see that the baby’s room would not be finished in time, the change table that my husband made was placed in the warm kitchen . I was in a state of blissful motherhood so miraculously the condition of the house was no longer a priority ! Our little ones grew up in the company of daily workers as one project led to another ! Like you my parents came often and my carpenter father created so many things !
I must remind you to make sure that your Mom and Dad sign the bottom of the change table or anything else they create ! You will appreciate this many years down the road . My parents are gone now but just seeing Dad ‘s name carved on the underside of precious things he created brings joy to my soul .
