Absolutely agree! I can't think of a touring band in past 10 years who put on a better performance. They were especially good during the Circutial days. Forgive spelling if wrong I can't remember...Lol
I had the pleasure of seeing Jim perform an acoustic pre-show set (just him and a guitar) at a record shop in Denver called "Twist and Shout" in 2003 while they were touring for the "It still Moves" album. It was an awesome experience and then attended the concert that evening. They came running out with plenty of long hair, all of them in bare feet, running around the stage rocking out. They looked like wild hilbillys from the Ozarks. It was an amazing experience.
This band makes me want to be that person at the stop light with all my windows rolled down and the radio on high. Because they don’t get the attention they should, and I think more people would love them if they heard their music.
I somewhat agree but lets be honest they don't write radio songs. Ya know? Also their following is very large for an "indy" (lack of better words) band. They do sell out large venues, not stadiums but their fan base is very loyal too. I personally think they have the perfect amount of attention. I mean does it get much bigger than having not just a cameo but a whole episode of American Dad solely about them? Do you really want them to be bigger? I think they hit the sweet spot in music. Might not be a monster of fame but they get respect in all the right corners. They get to walk around with not a lot of hassle from being recognized and have nice paychecks doing what they love. It's just the right amount of attention in my opinion. I also think they're where even some huge bands wish they could be. At the sweet spot if you ask me. Just my opinion though. Not sure if its right??? Lol
You hit the nail on the head about popularity and respect and fan loyalty. I have seen them and JJ solo about 30 times and their playing just seems to get better and better, imho. Incredible live band. Btw, instrument is an omnichord.
Love these guys too. They're all really great people as well. The keyboardist Bo Koster grew up or maybe still does live in the town over from me and when wasn't touring he'd come up to restaurant I worked at. No one knew who he was...Lol. I bout crapped my pants first time he walked in. Very nice person though. The band like you said sounds current while blending the old and keeping their own identity. Which is truly hard to do. Most bands that do the old thing normally wear their influence on their sleeves resulting in the same old recycled sound. More karaoke than originality. Check out Dr. Dog as well they're another great band from this era. If you haven't already.
they put on 2 of the greatest live shows i've ever seen
I saw them once and the sound mix was very bassy. I mean earth-shakingly loud. Otherwise a great show. Thanks for commenting chase.

Absolutely Sara. One of my favorite 21st Century bands. Saw them live as well as Monsters of Folk. Welcome to the channel and thanks for the comment.

Great comment. BTW, I did a Dr. Dog reaction in the early days of the channel. You shoul be able to search for it.
And I'll be seeing them on the twenty-third with M Ward opening.
Well, there you go. M Ward was in Monsters of Folk. Have a great time at the show Jeff.
