Beautiful hotel but NO hotel is worth $400 and up a night. If all you need is a place to throw your luggage before you go out into the city ,this is an overkill.

That's it $400, that is nothing for what you get.

Hong Kong is a city that attracted a lot of tourists in the past. There are too many violent protests in Hong Kong. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. Lives do not go on perfectly in Hong Kong recently. Many shop owners opt to close their shop during protests. Some shopping malls close during protests. I believe shopping is one of the popular activities for tourists so they can be affected. Tourists generally stay in city centre and tourists can be affected by riots at city centres (There are more than one busy commercial districts in Hong Kong and all are common riot area). Riots take place near hotels. The fact is that even if you choose a hotel far away from city centre such as those in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long district, you can still see protests. Unless the tourist concerned is very interested in politics, I see no reason for him/her to visit Hong Kong for leisure at present. Objectively speaking, Hong Kong is a city tourists should avoid. One more pieces of information: in some riots, somebody set a fire at railway stations and damaged the stations. On the fifth of October, all railway services except Airport Express suspended.
Have the railway stations in your home country ever been burnt deliberately? If not, I recommend all travellers to evaluate the general safety situation of Hong Kong before your travel. I personally assume there will be arson in railway stations in Hong Kong again in the future, though I admit that this is simply a personal speculation.

I recently spent a week in Hong Kong, staying in Mong Kok. Although there were protests going on I never felt uncomfortable or threatened in any way. The hotel advised me if and when any troubles were expected. Don't be put off by the news reports, as long as you are aware and staying in a good hotel you will be safe.

@@annestill9721 I believe that all travellers should consider the safety condition of their travel destination before travelling. It is not easy to avoid those riots. The riots are still going on (there are some big one on this day). Riots take place in urban area including shopping centres which are popular tourist spots and therefore it is not easy for tourists (and even for locals) to avoid the riots across the city.

@@ThomasLi4017 I was speaking from my own experience. I was sensible enough to take any advice given and able to avoid the trouble spots. Having been invited to a wedding in Hong Kong there was no way I would have cancelled my trip unless advised to do so by the Foreign Office. Visiting Hong Kong was a wonderful experience despite the riots going on. Needless to say, I would like to do the trip again in the future.

@@annestill9721 Over the past week, the situation in Hong Kong has actually deteriorated. Some countries have raised travel advisory warning for Hong Kong, telling travellers to exercise “increased caution” or that “the situation around protests and public gatherings can change quickly.”
Many railway stations were vandalized. Therefore, there is an "Interim injunction order to restrain unlawful and wilful acts on the railway" currently effective.
Since November 14, all schools in Hong Kong suspended.
According to MTR Mobile, which is an official app, University Station which is a station along the route of intercity-through train will not reopen in the near future. The reason for the closure is because there is a vandalized train blocking the track at such station. There are not any trains passing through University Station. The "intercity-through train" service has been cancelled so it is definitely inconvenient for some travellers.
Tolo Highway was blocked for 60 hours by protestors until 15 November 2019.
I understand that you were just describing your own opinion when you wrote the reply. However, the situation in Hong Kong is deteriorating. It seems that leisure travellers should not go to Hong Kong in the near future.
