Seeing three-digit floor levels and the type of food you got for breakfast really makes me miss travelling in Asia! The StR's base level room would literally qualify for a junior suite. Thanks for the review and safe travels / quarantine back home!
Hong Kong was has been on my bucket list since childhood living in the UK, and you have fueled my desires even the more with those gorgeous hotels, and killer views. Definitely will be adding these to the list of places to stay for when I make it there. Well done on showcasing these top brands.
Ricky I swear watching your videos makes me want to get up and go fly somewhere. Awesome video of Hong Kong hotels. The site of my honeymoon. Of course we didn't get to stay in such nice places but with armed with points and miles, I'm ready for it. 😁
The St. Regis HK, room layout & design look very similar to the Fairmont Vancouver Airport, I stayed in that one when I came back to Vancouver from LHR for the 3 day Hotel Quarantine. Really nice decor, spacious & great views.
would you ever discuss about the strategy that you use for these type of travel at the end of the video? whether to use points or cash or etc. Love your videos as always!
Absolutely -- here's a video I made in the past about how I decide between paying cash vs. redeeming points for hotels: ruclips.net/video/TQ0LEXyUyNk/видео.html

Hotels also rather upgrade a platinum member if they paid with cash compared to a titanium but redeemed with points. Cash is 100% face value. Points on the other hand I think equals to around 60% ish reimbursement value i think
Hong Kong is on my bucket list! This video has helped a lot in choosing hotels. Question: would you check in to these hotels as a Platinum member or wait until Titanium for a better chance for an upgrade? Thank you for such a great video!
Titanium definitely gives you a better chance, and technically you're only entitled to upgrades at the Ritz if you're a Titanium, not if you're a Platinum. However, the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong actually has more suites than the other two, so they tend to be more generous in upgrading elites (even Platinum members). I'd say you have a fair shot even as a Platinum, but keep your expectations in check because Hong Kong has lots of elite members with cash to blow, so it's not the easiest place for upgrades!
@@PrinceofTravel Truee. I've been looking into that. Thank you! I have Gold status from the Platinum card but just realized it doesn't add any qualifying nights to the status. I still start from 0 nights every year.
I actually love all three brands but they do not have an executive lounge. If they have with an happy hours it would be great and easy to decide and book. I knew because of the brands were in other before Marriott Bonvoy. But hopefully one day they will change and have an executive lounge.
Buddy your vid is Great ! could you please tell me what is the room number you stayed in Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong ? i would like to stay in the same room for my next Asia trip to Hong Kong Thank you very much Leon Hu in Toronto Ontario
I am a Hongkonger and I have stayed in the Fantastic Suite at mid-June. It was a really nice room with stunning view! So sad that you can't get a free upgrade :(
Mixed results with upgrades. Do you still message the hotels ahead of time to ask for upgrades? I seem to remember reading several articles by you about that a few years ago.
Paid cash actually. At Category 7 and 8, the value in redeeming points just wasn't there - I'd prefer to earn more points towards future stays instead.
Ricky - how did you get a free upgrade for Ritz Carlton Victoria Harbor suite? I checked the price - it is typically going for $1000 US (instead of $250 US as quoted in your video) - did you just book the entry level room and somehow got upgraded to such suite because they know you. I heard they treat youtubers like celebrities in hong kong as they see that as PR marketing for the hotel... wonder how can laymen like us can get such upgrade without costing an arm and leg
Titanium Elite status got me an automatic upgrade to the Deluxe Suite with Sea View. Then I pushed the hotel really hard to get the Victoria Harbour View - I said "it'd mean the world to me to get the suite", "it'll be an unforgettable stay", etc. They ended up giving it to me but without late checkout, since it was already booked by someone else the following night.
@@PrinceofTravel did you book just the entry level room or you book 1 level below the suite? Just wonder how many grade would the titanium elite status normally upgrade ppl (eg. +1, 2, or 3 level of rooms)
Well it is attainable for many. Maybe it is only you who think these luxury hotels are unobtainable. Try the Ritz in Tokyo or Kyoto, that is triple the price of Hong Kong and still fully book on some weekends.

Loved the view from Ozone when we were in Hong Kong two years ago. Great video, thanks!

Thanks for commenting Chris - I trust you've got many 100+ floor hotel stays lined up for 2021-2022.

@@thereisnoaddress Now we just need a hotel that's 100 floors overwater 😱

Love to hear that! You gotta try the Ritz next time, it'll be a fitting location for revisiting your special city.
I'm way too early on this wow. Nice vid, Ricky
Welcome
The view from the Ritz-Carlton was truly something else.
One of the most stunning views I've ever seen, and certainly the best views from a hotel room I've ever had.
Before Covid, I would go to Hong Kong for 2 weeks for my birthday. Man I miss traveling! Great video. Keep it up!

Happy you are able to get back to some lux travels :)
Nice touch of using traditional Chinese for the end screen
Glad someone noticed ☺️

Or better yet, use your SNAs.
Ah, but my SNAs at both the St. Regis and W were denied. Just one of those weekends with staycationers wreaking havoc.

@@PrinceofTravel you are correct! Definitely heading there during "low season" (if there is such a season in this concrete jungle). Thanks!
@@PrinceofTravel Ah, sorry to hear. Guess bad luck as I'm aware of someone that had their SNAs clear during identical stay dates 😉.
Those Ritz Carlton Views were to die for. 😍 Got any tips on obtaining Titanium Elite status?
Get both the US personal and business Bonvoy cards, that's 30 nights per year right there!

How long and how much to get the Covid 19 negative test result before boarding flight back to Canada? Thanks
I flew into the US actually. Got one in Hong Kong ($40) for the US flight, and then got one in the US ($200 USD) to cross the Canadian border.

Always. This time, there were just too many locals paying for suites at the StR and W.
Were all these spots booked on points? Great video

Dayum!
Exquisite videos as always! Did you pay for these 3 properties with Marriott points? That would be a huge amount!
I paid cash here since the points rates were super expensive

You don’t do Waldorf Astoria eh ?
There's no WA in Hong Kong alas. Loved the Dubai one.
why were you in hkg?
Have you ever tried the Midnight Supper at St Regis?
so you rewarded yourself with luxury nights at these top brand hotels after quarantine.....
Exactly right - though I don't think "rewarded" is the right word 😃
Oh, no breakfast in Ritz-Carlton, even no welcome fruit or snacks
I got a welcome snack - but yes, no breakfast for elites, and I also didn't have time in the morning 😔
Which one is your favourite?
why won't you have a mask on before entering?
I took it off for filming
Awesome rooms but who can ever afford these? Even on points you need such a ridiculous amount to redeem it seems entirely unattainable.
