I find the cockney accent appealing mainly because it's rugged, tough but it's easy on the ears.
Its soooooo hot
In the North its not
I can't get over that pronunciation of Derbyshire 😂
Or pronunkcheeation
Do we know who's doing the commentary.?? "Yorkshire county is a big place'. I know that Yorkshire IS a county, but we would never phrase it like that. This woman is clueless!
The thing is, I have a Scottish mum and a Welsh dad, and I was raised in North Yorkshire. I don't know what kind of accent I have, because I don't sound like anyone I know. My accent is like one on its own
Also I LOVE that they showed The Bastard Pac for the Geordie accent. Quality 👊
both my niece n neph were born of scots in yorkshire a beautiful place.
I’m trying to remember from which show/episode they pulled the Pac clip from.
Chances are you've got a Yorkshire accent. Can you detect accents in the other people in your local area? If not then you have their accent.
@White-Dragon I can detect accents, I work in hospitality so I speak to may people who say my voice is very sexy cuz it's deep, bit they all think I'm from elsewhere cuz I don't sound from Yorkshire or Northern at all. I'm good at detecting accents cuz I'm a stand up impressionist too
@@example2844 I live in Devon but grew up in Dorset and I can just pick up a slight accent sometimes. It's especially surprising when I hear a local saying "me luver" to someone in conversation, because Dorset people never use that expression.
Welsh isn't an accent.. There isn't one Welsh accent. The North Welsh accent is a lot different from the South Wales accent for example. Scottish isn't an accent either lol. This was definitely a poll conducted only in England
English isn’t an accent either, so why would you think it was conducted in England?
Cytuno yn llwyr a chi!
I think people are confusing accent with dialect.
Accent-Pronouncing words that occurs among the people in a particular region or country.
Dialect- a variety of a language spoken in a particular geographical area or by a particular group.
You’re American aren’t you who calls a cockney accent “British accent”. Moron
Beau iful Bri ish accents💘🇬🇧
Poor list. Don't relegate our Welsh and Scottish friends to just a generic sweep. North Welsh is far different to South. Highland Scottish is vastly different to Edinurgh and Glasgow etc etc. It's a bit of a cop-out... Also Derbyshire isn't pronounced like that... Also no love for the North West? 😔
Fun fact: the presenter is dyslexic so maybe have a little grace yeah?
I had same issue with northern Irish and aye same with Scotland like you can go from Peterhead to Aberdeen in North Scotland and accent is completely different and so forth like aberdeen to Glasgow to Edinburgh etc then West Coast Scotland speak Scottish, aberdeen Doriac as oppose to English usually and in northern ireland it'd actually Ulster Scots and obviously welsh their own language and english too. This was infuriatingly video
@Allen Sale Doesn't matter, I work in publishing I'm also dyslexic, it's common to have these sort of things proofed before release. Also being dyslexic doesn't mean you shouldn't know how to pronounce Derbyshire 😆
South Wales and Ireland has the best accents I reckon
No
Apart from Danny Dyer, those cockney accents weren’t really cockney accents. I’m a native Londoner and I don’t have a cockney accent, I have a southeast London accent and that’s a bit different. Not many Londoners are cockneys and we don’t all sound the same either.
When this came out and suggested cockney was sexy I realised it was a spoof. It was a parade of the worst accents (apart from Yorkshire and Scots) in the nation, and pushed the standard idea that the southern Wales accent is _the_ Welsh accent - but the proper one is from the areas where the speak Welsh.
As it's a spoof I am surprised Liverpool didn't win.
*Top 10 least sexiest British accents:*
*1. Chav/Roadman*
I'm an American, but I recently have had a thing for the Scouse/Liverpool accent because of this one girl in my government class.
I’m shocked that my accent is number 9 I did not think it would be on here 😂
What's wrong with sounding like a pirate?
I think people are confusing accent with dialect.

Genuinely shocked ***spoiler*** that the Liverpool accent isn't on here, maybe it's just me, but I love it.
Yeah. I thought of that one too.
It's probably one of the worst accents in the UK. It's irritating, especially when you start sounding like Wayne Rooney and all phlegmy...
Yorkshire represent WHITE ROSE!
If its not from Yorkshire, it can piss off
I personally luv the Yorkshire accent from jodie whittaker in doctor who (and I'm German)
welsh being at 3 makes me so happy 🥺
All tame examples which in itself is interesting. Always naturally gets dialled up when you go back home
8:09
Number 4 has at least 10 variations of this accent on its own. Trust me 😂
WatchMojoUK really needs to get more facts about Ulster is one of the four traditional Irish provinces on the Island of Ireland. It is made up of nine counties: six of these constitute Northern Ireland, the remaining three are in the Republic of Ireland, Donegal, Monaghan, and Cavan which is also part of Ulster. They could have changed the tittle The 10 Sexiest British and Irish Accents.
Ummm... the narrator is English, right? Then why did she pronounce the first syllable of Derbyshire as 'Derr' instead of the English 'Darr'?
She sucks. WTF is "pro-nunn-shee-aay-shun" she keeps mumbling. Sloppy content..🧐🤮🤮🤢🤮🤮
Whelp 😶
Because she used to work for WhatCulture where they always mispronounce things. Old habits...
I heard it too.... Durbyshire?
5:06 oh yes…. Gemma Chan 😍😍
006 aka Sean Bean, I remember him playing that role and going from there I just always see him dying in his roles
There's couple action movies in 2010s he lived
I like Estuary Accent it's very appealing, I have some English ancestry and I like the tone of it. But I think the most auspicious English accent is Received Pronunciation for me
This American can barely hear any differences haha. My wife recently said "Can you learn a British accent" after we watched a movie called Home for a Royal Heart. I then said some words and she was like "Not like that - Google "Sexy British Accent". Anyone know what accent Dan Jeanotte is using in that movie?
After listening to this, I’m so relieved I have no accent at all
I love all the British Isles accents but what category of accent would the Essex accent be or the South London accent? Thank you for the interesting clip.
Tess Daily is from Stockport, greater Manchester and Vernon Kay is from Bolton, which are both north west.
If you are going to mispronounce a word, for the love of God, don't make that word pronunciation. Pro-NUNK-she-a-shun?
No, sorry. I don't agree. This is more like "most annoying accents" imo. Yorkshire, on the other hand....Why is Yorkshire so low? That should have been number 1!!! Sexiest UK accent ever! 😍😍😍
I'm confused as to why Adele is included in the Cockney part of the video. She's not an East Ender - she was born and raised in north London
Basically a working class accent.
You should make a top 10 hard 'tough person' British accents trust me you don't want to wind up us Brits
Why Scouse is not even in this list?
Because it's annoying and high pitched for the most part. It can be nice if not to strong, think Paul McCartney
Because it's one of the most unpopular accents (:
I'd argue the Cymraeg/Welsh accent is the strongest to me.
Derbyshire is pronounced DAR-bee-sheer, not DER-bee-sheer.
If I'm ever to really learn these differences properly, I'm going to need some kind of spreadsheet chart.
Good to see the Scottish up at no 1 🏴🏴🏴
Have you guys actually heard the Yorkshire accent or Welsh? Fucking geordie?!? No you’re playing 😂😂
Is “pronunk-sheayshun” an accent thing or just the usual inability for certain presenters to pronounce common words?
It's an accent thing. For a number of British people, the "S" sound in a word like "pronunciation" or even the word "assume" ends up changing to an "sh" sound.
I like so much Yungblud's accent
I’m shocked the cockney accent is so low
I have trouble identifying UK accents (I'm from Los Angeles), but I do love Yorkshire, Scottish, and Scouser accents. I find RP kind of off-putting, tho, maybe because posh people make me uncomfortable.
I call it "Fascist English" or just "Toff". It's the accent used mostly by the upper-class Imperialistic gits in our society. Being American, I think you'd like West Country quite a lot, because that's where most American accents originate.
@@white-dragon4424 I was taught that American Southerners speak the way we do now because most of the original settlers who became the big landowners were from the north of England.
My favourite, most attractive British accent is the Cheshire accent, RP, elegant, just a touch of Northern. I guess the closest famous person with this accent is Ken Barlow from Coronation Street. Generally, subtle accents and well spoken is my preference. I guess I'm biased as I speak like this myself! I also rather like a subtle Welsh accent like Jamie Owen the ex BBC Wales Today newsreader.
Living in London sadly though one doesn't hear these kinds of people, am very deprived!
Tim Curry has the most sexiest British accent hands down 😚🌹
ah Jon Snow (Kit Harington)
Toff accent over yorkshire?! Absolutely not!
Have to laugh at brummy & scouse getting ignored again 🤣
Ignored? They’re both absolutely terrible
Let's be honest: those accents are sexy at all
Sod the scouse 😂
@JF1908x no thats what i mean no matter where youre from, in unison people hate scouse & brummy accents
I have the best accent in England 🤣 Silent.
The ' sexiest' British accent is Cockney
I love the Northern Ireland accent, most of my family have it. In comparison, I sound kind of like a northern California version of Jeff Spicoli.
First off Northern Ireland it's officially Ulster Scots not Ulster English and my god like putting the while country as a one accent is just absolitley awful
I find it funny how this woman can't pronounce "pronunciation"
I searched for this
What about brummie
Are you cooked? Those aren't West Country accents, at least not from Maisie Williams or Russell Howard.
London a sexy accent? Surely not. IMO East Midlands don't really have an accent but some in notts/derbs have a slight Yorkshire essence due to how close they are to some Yorkshire areas.
Love a Scottish female accent
Congratulations about Top 10 Sexual British Accents
Good list, aside from Ulster, which grates on my ears?! 😂 I'm mainly Estuary, but revert to Cockney when I get stressed! For me, Eire beats them all (yes, I know they're not officially British, but still...) 😍
Funny, I tend to naturally use a mix of Estuary and RP when I'm calm, but whenever I get stressed or angry my West Country shoots to the surface!
Essex isn't cockney (ala Russell Brand)
Also if you are doing something on accents learn how to pronounce areas of the country Derbyshire
Yorkshire is too big to generalised it's accent as one as the difference between South Yorkshire or West Yorkshire is massive.
Another badly researched vid from watch mojo actually thought I was unsubbed already but thanks for the reminder to do so
Yea i perfer scottish
Nice one calling the derry accent british...
This list should be flipped
The people making this video don’t have the faintest idea about British accents.
How can I listen to more scottish English?
Is that Cockney or Estuary
wtf is scottish english do you mean scots that dial back there accent and their scots so people can understand them cause thats all i can think you mean
I knew when I saw the headline that it was an impossibility.
a cant hear anyone except her rabbiting on
As you said, RP isn't a natural accent. It's an accent of class/money and education, so it doesn't count. Welsh comes in different forms. You've got the broad version like those shown in the clip, then you've got southern Welsh found in places like Cardiff, which doesn't sound much different to West Country just across the Bristol Channel. Speaking of West Country, you have soft West Country found more in urban areas, then you've got the very broad "pirate/farmer" West Country found in more remote rural areas. There's also subtle differences in lingo, such as Devonian's penchant for for saying "me luver" (i.e. friend or buddy), which other counties in the West Country don't use.
And no, I don't agree with your picks, especially your choice for No. 1. Although I don't come from the area, I'd put London Estuary English at number one for easiest to listen to British accents, followed by West Country, Southern Welsh, then maybe Birmingham and Cockney.
None.
#1 Leicester Michelle Bingley (she's Filipina)
#2 Essex
#3 East Midlands
I'm American (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
Scottish number 1? Pass me a bucket 🤮🤮🤮🪣 top 3 should've been
3.Geordie
2.Welsh
1.Yorkshire
Ans Scottish NOWHERE on the list
I think you mean divisive, not decisive.
Irish accent far from sexy.
British accent but decides to use an Asian thumbnail
Because she’s well known for her posh British accent
@@uploade1019 too much woke agenda mate
@@SS-sg4eg what?
She's English. Or are you angry she's not gammon-pink?
shes British not English. English is is an ethnicity, she is clearly not English.@@SigmaLongshot
Noticed, ''fat and ugly'' was not one!
pronounce the word pronoun'SHI'ation
Maybe the narrator should learn how to speak and pronounce basic English.
So many things in this script that made me cringe thanks to mispronounced words and places.
Scotland not 1
Why can't the narrator pronounce 'pronunciation?' /prəˌnʌn.siˈeɪ.ʃən/, not /prəˌnʌnk.siˈeɪ.ʃən/
Whatcultureitis. She used to work for WhatCulture where it''s more of a surprise when then pronounce words correctly
I congratulate you on your ability to write in what appears to be IPA.
@@jwb52z9 Thanks, I'm an English teacher.
