I know what really sucks with my life now. I work at a job that I don't enjoy, just to pay the rent and other bills and have almost nothing left to do the things that I enjoy. I am sick of the life that I am living now. I am getting off of this ride that society tells me I am supposed to be on. Bought my van yesterday. Vanlife here I come. Chrome, thank you, watching your videos has taught me that it is time to stop planning and to "Just Do It".
@@panickedjerzeegrl7622 things are getting better. I am living in the van full-time. Although, this virus crap ain't making it easier with the gyms being closed and at truck stops showers are $12 each. Still trying to figure out how to earn money on the road.
I was where you are but instead of thinking "I need a new vehicle", I decided to be frugal and do with what I have. So I figured a setup for my small toyota corolla. Slept for 3 nights at Walmart parking lot with a library, a gym, and a park nearby. I couldn't ask for more. I love it.
The best parts about living in your van, camper or RV is the fact that every morning at 6 am the maids comes by and cleans the bathrooms and showers at Walmart and the gym and I don't pay them! Nor do I ever have to clean another bathroom ever again!
I've been full timing now for 4 years, mainly stealth camping and the only inconveniences are as follows .....running out of water ........emptying the toilet cassette........and noise. But when I'm saving £7,480 sterling per year by NOT living in a flat/house ......it's a small sacrifice to make. Also your more active living in a camper van.
@@quincee3376 there are some types of portable toilets that have a small removable tank section that you take out and empty. That’s called the cassette.
Negative feeds negative. You are always positive ! Some people have the best life possible and still find something to bitch about. You do you ! We love you and Disco ! !👍👍
Dude, you live in a mansion with your four legged company. I respect and admire your videos. I lived in a 2009 Nissan Versa for 7 months and I enjoyed it. Looking out my windshield was better than looking out a apartmwnt window. The best part of car/van life os the freedom of goin wherever one wants to. Keep on posting and peace to you on your journey
I lived in my van in the 80s and loved every minute of it. I was working and going to college so was never home, built my van into a camper and split to the woods man. Lived by a lake and met some of the greatest people. I'm building another camper van, lol. Pretty excited about it too.
Those "people" you're talking about are simply jealous because they don't have the balls to shake the yoke off. I've always been a weirdo and I think you have to have a screw loose to choose this lifestyle. Why? Because when one sees what society says is successful as a trap, one IS different by definition. It's not for everybody, but if it's not for you, simply stop watching the videos and hating on van life. Go watch videos about mansions and swimming pools and black gold and Texas tea if that's what floats your Titanic. Live life, love life and don't judge anyone for being happy.
Love your channel, I find what you say to be honest and not sugar coated. You love it because you chose it. Like you said if people are living the lifestyle because they have to and are forced into it, they will have a different view of van life. Keep on being Weird, we love you for it!
Just a suggestion, a lidded wooden box on legs where Disco's food is. Slide his dishes under it, throw stuff in it, visitors can sit on it, you can cook on it when it's freezing out. I know that problem, seemed to be forever tidying stuff when we stayed in a van with the kids. Everything has to have an easy access space that encourages you to put it back as soon as you've used it. I hate cleaning up too!!!
One thing I'm concerned of is the cold! I get cold very easily and am small, do not want to wear a jacket all the time lol I think van life is what you make of it. You're the only one that knows what makes you comfortable and the good thing about it is you can always change or rearrange things so it better suits you. The minimal stress of figuring out where to park for the night is worth the compromise of paying rent or a mortgage in an area you're stuck at! I just love your enthusiasm. Thanks 😄
I hate keeping my little bungalow clean but have to do it anyways. I keep wondering “who the heck made this mess” - guess it was your’s truly and I clean. You are living the life you want and a bit of dog hair is not going to change that. I have no negative thoughts on this lifestyle and it is something I am hoping to do soon. Your great! Thanks.
Binging it from the beginning, again lol...how I miss Disco. Love how far you've come from this video. Also love that you share all the things about this lifestyle and not just what influencer's share. Really are an inspiration!
Honestly you’ve been the most realist van dweller I’ve come across. And you actually make it waaaaay more appealing than the ones who have 30k and a nice new van to build on with all the beautiful sunset photo ops. Your real ness has been a huge motivation for me. Keep it real bro and stay weird!!
I would miss having a tub bath. So I'm looking into portable Japanese furo. And the whole cleaning thing, one of the biggest reasons I an working toward dumping my house. Just hate cleaning 2600 Sq. Ft. I would love only cleaning 90 Sq. Ft. And my cat is self cleaning so that's a bonus. Happy to be weird.
Van life is for people who have come to realize that collecting things is not real life and doesn’t directly equate to being happy. Van life is for those who have come to realize that they have for many years been a slave to things they buy and then have to clean, store, organize, secure and which in many cases don’t last or are wanted for more than two years before being replaced by the newest greatest thing. Van life is for those who find beauty in nature and the moment and who find the simple pleasures in life to be the best things in life. It is not for everybody but those people should not judge the ones who find joy in van life: just celebrate their happiness with them.
Don't let the trolls get you down bro! Keep doing your thing! Your awesome! Your rad! And for sure, don't change your style! You've got a great channel here.

I have gotten alot of negativity over choosing to live in a van...but there are just people out there that can not understand how someone can choose to not live in a house...and those people are totally scared and insecure if they don't have a stick and brick home to live in...I feel sorry for them..but they don't even know what they are missing...and yea my mom thinks I am insane ..my dad thinks it is totally cool..so there u go ...have a great day :)

I'm with you on this man! I'm in an apartment for the winter. I just can't wait until spring comes so I can get back into my cargo van! I'm actually excited about it!
I love watching your videos! I finally retired and will be starting vanlife this September. Wish I had figured this out sooner like you did. Love watching you enjoy your life and the natural beauty around us. Be safe and travel on!
Exactly! I have 15+ years in I.T. and Internet marketing - traded it all and became a professional nomad living in my Volvo 780 semi tractor trailer - getting paid to travel cross country, while being able to save the most $ possible with minimalistic bills... I can always go back to the traditional life style tomorrow lol
I am an old hippie and van life is a universal truth....it's Rad! It's not for everyone just the few of us who are daring enough to live outside society norms. There is bad stuff about having a stick and brick home too. No way of living is all awesome all the time but VL comes darn close

It boils down to PMA, Positive Mental Attitude! If you love life, love adventure, love freedom, and you’re a minimalist, than van life is going to cater to that lifestyle. If you are a Maximist, love to consume, require 1000sqft, and collect excessive things, than van life will make you miserable. I’ll take freedom, and adventure over things and excess any day!
Humidity in Portland is around 80s for this winter moisture is bad got a wood stove to keep me warm sometimes it gets the cabin Smokey I need to install a fan above the stove
Loving the videos and the channel man! Stay positive, stay beautiful, stay weird! Whatever the saying, I always enjoy these videos because they are always positive! Canada looks beautiful!! Small question “how do you dry items such as towels after daily use?” e.g a shower at the gym. Just got myself a van and am converting at the minute, stoked to get into my version of “van life!”
There are plenty of other issues with vanlife. I'm currently sick and living in a vehicle during the winter with a cold really sucks. Having to find a parking spot every night especially while traveling can also be a pain. Not having enough room, electricity or being able to stand and having to use public bathrooms and showers can be a real drag after awhile. With that being said the benefits still far out way the negative side of vanlife.
Yo man. Big fan of your channel. Love all your positivity. I just bought my first van a few weeks ago and I'm in the process of converting it. Never been to Canada but I look forward to the possibility of having BC out my doors. We'll meet up someday my dude, be easy 👊
Now your keeping it real, not everybody is cut out for that life style or understand it, yes your living in close quarters and most of the time your by yourself and it gets lonely. Life is a give and take decision you have to make. I like the idea of getting out of the routine and mundane work force, I like the idea of less responsibilities and relaxation. And yes. Chrome we don't want to see you bath or houseclean but we know it has to be done. I believe the channels are watched to learn how it works and what type of people do it and for what reasons. How right you are about having the best back yard you can find, how wonderful it is to wake up with a cup of "JOE" and your looking at the Gulf of Mexico or the mountains. I have been living in my class B for nine months now and I enjoy it, the real test will be out west where it is dry and hot. This Sailor is out....
Thank you for sharing, from the 1st video I’ve watched of you, I could tell how genuine you are and keep life simple & you seem a very happy person, the real happy inside. I am considering van dwelling just for fun & adventurous life. My youngest son will be moving out soon & I am considering selling my house & doing the van life with both my huskies. I have watched so many videos, my biggest fear would be finding places to park & just being on my own for safety issues. I live close to Ottawa, so I would definitely go South in the winter cause its freezing here he he! Keep up the awesome videos!
Most of the comments seem to address, bathroom and cleanliness and sleeping. That really doesn't seem very urgent. Important but if that is people's greatest worry, then I see nothing to worry about. Just solve the problem and go have fun.
I love watching your van life and I love how enthusiastic you are about it and yeah having to clean up the van all the time is probably going to be my biggest pet peeve as well LOL , I have two dogs to contend with... My biggest concern is going to be how do I handle leaving them in the van in the heat and the cold also, there are going to be times I won't be able to take them with me everywhere inside places, so how do you handle when you have to shop and it's hot out and the dog has to be in the van?
Turbulence Originals It is difficult to be an urban dweller with pets but on the really too hot days I've kept the vehicle running with the air on and the doors locked with the child locks engaged.
I don't like cleaning my sticks and bricks either! So no biggie when I get in my van and go. It doesn't hurt to do some videos like this one but please don't quit making the edited ones. You're very talented and I love me some Disco!
I'm so glad you told the truth and didn't sugarcoat anything. I too chose this over paying rent and throwing my money away, altho I am in an SUV versus a van(which would be better, space wise) my cats and I are happy and contented. Thnx for being weird, lol... I breathe.
My totally agree. Just that van life is not for everyone and that ok. I’m going to get me a van just I’m planning before I do want to get into it debt free, like you said pay these bills off first. Until the just going to keep on following you for inspiration
Haters always have something to say, as long as you and other van lifers/weirdos love it that’s all that matters. Some people are so funny, they never gave it a try but know so much about it 🤨 I love van life by just watching the videos, wish I could give it a try but I’m married with children but we are going camping this spring break 👍🏾
New sub here! I love this video :) vanlife is not all flowers and butterflies, but it’s fucking amazing! Haha my van is my home and it’s the best home I’ve had
Walleye I hear ya there....cold as cold can be. Road trek was my first choice, then found 2003 leisure freedom wide body...last year before switch models.....
When I need to sweep sawdust out of my van, I can use my work leaf blower. I'm thinking I'll pick up a 12v compressor and use an air hose to blow the dust out. I spent some of the holidays in my unfinished van. It was truely joyous, apart from not aiming into the bottle properly.
The best part of van life is having Disco snuggles and having this perfect companion around all the time. Stay warm, happy and spread the joy . Happy 2018 and to new adventures 🎉🍾☀️🌈💗
Thank you. I will be in van Haven when I get there. There are some that aren't really living in a van and playing the part. Their way of having a little fame. That's them. Sad but facts. You are one of the many that's real. Thank you. Hug Disco for me.
I am actually envious of you. ...and other vandwellers..no rent or utilities to pay ...no landlords. Your backyard is wherever you want . I am a former military wife and I miss the traveling. I'm really happy for you.
Got a really cool thing I wanted to recommend for cleaning out the van. I got a Black & Decker Lithium battery powered leaf blower. Really excited to just open the doors and blow out all the pet hair
I can see the awesomeness of it all, but there are those of us that want to know it all.. Don’t want to walk into the unknown. No i dont want to see you pee in your cup, but how and where do you dispose of it.. what happens when you have to go and there is nothing open? Where do you go in snowy areas when the city is plowing so you dont get trapped? Where/ how do you wash your dishes in the winter? Does your “routine” change when the seasons change? Things you can do outside, you are now having to do inside the van is there much of a difference? Are you ever bored? You can’t leave Disco inside the van when its cold, and you can’t take him inside places with you all the time, so how do you work around that? It may seem mundane and boring to you, but some of us really want to know.. we are just that weird to ask, are you weird enough to tell us is the question ?
majority of the vids he has out there appears to have addressed the questions. But if you are like me - a total weirdo you want to see everything - good bad and ugly - I think this is why I subscribed to his Patreon. He shares a lot of the day to day to his tribe there and of course unedited stuff. I've never subscribed to anyone on Patreon before he and disco came along and I think it's been worth it esp if you wanna see every-THANG! hahah! Weirdos definitely Unite!
I can't speak for Chrome and I have a 20ft RV not a van (well it USED to be an RV but the way it's built is more like a van conversion, I don't have any of the typical RV systems). But I do have a dog and I live in a hot climate, which has as many challenges as cold climate. So here's my answer to those questions (Hope you don't mind me budging in, Chrome. Let me know, I'll delete the reply): Bathroom issues: - personally I use a porta-potty with a 5 gallon waste tank. That's small enough for me to dispose off in a public bathroom. Since I work on a beach as a pedicabber, I usually park close by, so once a week or so I take a quick trip to dispose of all my wastewater. I try to limit my usage to water, but the chemicals I put in there would allow me to also go "number 2" and break it all down to a non-smelly (but admittedly not that great to look at :-) - hence me avoiding it) liquid. There are lots of 24h places you can use especially if unlike me, you're willing to move out of a convenient parking spot :D. Things might be a bit more dificult in rural areas, but there's various other ways to go. Luggable Loo is what a lot of people use and you dispose of the bags the same way you would dispose of diapers - ie trash. Snow and snow plow I can't answer, but during the heat waves me an ZeDog spent as much time outside in the shade - luckily I'm my own boss so he'll either come with me and rides in the basket or we don't work that day. I do my dishes with a spray bottle, a plastic bowl and wet and dry paper towels - you can do that in a van too... (I use the same spray bottle to shower because there's no branch of my gym in walking distance and I really like my parking spots too much to leave :-)) Since I have solar I am never bored, I read, write, watch movies, work on my photos/videos or even use my playstation. Now I've only gotten all these amenities in the last 4 months or so. As a matter of fact the end of the month marks my first full year of vehicle dwelling. When I started my RV was an empty shell, all I had was a bed platform, a toploading fridge (that I still use as an icechest rather than a fridge despite having power to hook it up), the porta potty and a little bit of storage space. But I gradually built it out the way I needed. The first thing I got was a one burner stove so I could have some tea and soup, then over the next 6 months came more storage, a kitchen aisle, a "shower" (basically a curtain hanging from the ceiling and a plastic tub - it hasn't changed, I just built some walls around it to make it look neater :-)) and finally the power system.
Did I just see a video without Disco???? Again, it's not about the cleaning the van, it's really about people judging others for a lifestyle that can't comprehend nor live. They are scared of giving up "things." I gave my landlady an open notice of my evacuation. When she sees a van pull up outside, she knows that it will only be a few weeks before I'm gone! She totally got it and waves the flag for freedom! lol

I have been living in my class B for nine months now and I enjoy it, the real test will be out west where it is dry and hot. This Sailor is out....
Love your attitude chrome.hope you and disco had a good day.
Thanks! :) Do you put a note in the window that the AC is on so some dumbass doesn't break your window for spite? LOL....
I breathe.
I'm in Mount Vernon, Washington this week. I sure wish I had time to drive up to Vancouver and saying hello! Great video!!
Absolutely the best vanlife video anywhere on the www!
Everyone hates to clean lol. Perfectly said! 💗
Evie Nova well said....have a class b leisure that I enjoy in warm months...brr neg 15 degrees here
Walleye I hear ya there....cold as cold can be.
Surely there is a van nanny to be found. Lol. You have the best channel. I am glad to be a viewer.
The best part of van life is having Disco snuggles and having this perfect companion around all the time.
Stay warm, happy and spread the joy .
Happy 2018 and to new adventures 🎉🍾☀️🌈💗
Another positive bud. Than. Saludos from Texas
Agreed buddy. Awesome one take by the way!
Thank you. I will be in van Haven when I get there. There are some that aren't really living in a van and playing the part. Their way of having a little fame. That's them. Sad but facts. You are one of the many that's real. Thank you. Hug Disco for me.
This is just as good without editing. Cleaning the car is misery, especially when you have a fast food habit.
Love your videos and especially your thoughts on life.
I know it sux but I really like that you keep a clean ‘house’..
Stay warm hunny! Much love ♡
Subscription earned. Know that I didn't give in right away. This video won me over.
It looks awesome - but I'm not a fan of the snow. I get Zen about cleaning my house, but snow ...ew.
That's a great video, so legit. Keep on truckn...
What do you do when the van breaks down and you don't have the money to fix it?
love your videos love you being soo honest xxx
Can't get enough of VCVL!
I agree.
majority of the vids he has out there appears to have addressed the questions.
Let me know, I'll delete the reply):
Bathroom issues:
- personally I use a porta-potty with a 5 gallon waste tank.
(I use the same spray bottle to shower because there's no branch of my gym in walking distance and I really like my parking spots too much to leave :-))
Since I have solar I am never bored, I read, write, watch movies, work on my photos/videos or even use my playstation.
Shakesbits
CocoBunjee yes?
Us van and truck life living, have good bad and ugly..its about not showing all the inappropriate stuff.
New sub! I've been on the road a year and a half and feel the same way you do. I doubt I'll ever go back to a house!
Okay Happy New Years Guys 🍺🥃🐶🍖😘🙋🏽♀️❕❕Alright Alright 😃I’m so ready for 2 years ago I just finished 3 years ago 😍😍LETS GO GUYS SOOOOO EXCITED 😎
Go, Van life. I'm not a van dweller but I wish I could have been. Love Disco.
Now, you know how a housewife feels, it never ends, as the saying goes. A man's work is from sunup to sundown, the woman's work is never done.
I don't like cleaning the house either!!!! Just one of those necessary evils
Yes Sir! Well said!
Those Dirt Devils are awesome and make cleaning a breeze!
Thanks for the uploads! Subbed!
Lol - when my water heater bursted in my house, I should have shown how home dwelling is not all it is cracked up to be as well. Keep on being weird!
She totally got it and waves the flag for freedom! lol
Your an inspiration
And he didn't have to pay the residential taxes in Squamish. If they have residential taxes in Canada.
I do not want to be a hobo, keep it clean and tidy. It is not hard, but it is about 5 minutes at regular intervals.
