I've been watching you for several years now. I'm doing some crafting and creating today. Decided to binge watch your earlier videos while having fun. Biggest and best difference I see from then and now is how you've cleaned up your language. Thank you, sir. Still love your videos.
Thanks for keeping it real, Chrome! I never understand the question of where to relieve yourself! People get so stressed about it when you can literally go anywhere. I learned a lot when we moved across the country and I lived in a cargo van with my grown son and five dogs for 45 days. It was only seven months ago, but I’m ready to hit the road again! So I’m now converting that bare cargo van.
Great video! Your suggestions are right on the money! And, for “emergency purposes”, you can go to Walmart & in the camping section of a Supercenter Walmart pick up a fold up potty-use 3.2 gallon (double) disposable black bags-one for the inside of the potty & one for the outside & use either kitty litter and/or paper toweling-use it & seal it and throw it away in a trash can-people throw out dog crap all the time! In fact, a lot of rv’ers don’t even use their shower units or potties! They use other means to shower and use the “bag method” with kitty litter & baking soda (to lessen any odor) & simply wrap it up, tie it off and dispose of it in the local trash can. I’ve stealth camped at Myrtle Beach, SC and used the porta potty double lined with trash bags in the summer (otherwise, you stand in a long line at many of the beach rest rooms, public parks or restaurants ‘cause it is soooo busy! Use Germ-x or Dr. Bronner’s soap to wash up afterwards. And, price for a hotel room per night at Myrtle Beach in the summer = $250 a night or more for a good quality room. Stealth camping price = FREE! Best wishes for happy & safe living to ya!!!
I love watching your videos because I think that a lot of people like myself live in "fear" because nobody knows what to really expect, but if more people become aware theat the "impossible" becomes "possible" then the fear is no longer an issue!!
The best advice you're ever likely to get from anyone: move to Canada! I did about 20 years ago now and it's the best thing I've ever done.......so far! Next up is getting a van and heading out to see the rest of this glorious part of this beautiful planet.
Love your enthusiasm! Also very much appreciate your ability to speak in complete and grammatically correct sentences. I've been watching van-living people on RUclips for over a year now and your videos are very well put together. Thank you for that! Also, you're the first van -living person I've seen show a broom and how to use it! Isn't the lower mainland an amazing area!? All the best in you ventures!
Emergency toilet .... a five gallon bucket with a garbage bag installed and a length of pool noodle sliced lengthwise and placed around the sharp edge. You get to chose the colour of the seat .... BONUS. Store your private stuff inside when not in use such as toilet paper. shaving equipment and anti stink sprays etc., lol.
I agree with you. You and the van are super clean and tidy. Your energy is upbeat and positive, even in the face of challenges. It makes all the difference.
I’ve started Binge watching from the beginning after I found your channel where I was watching your previously new videos. I’ve enjoyed watching your journey from the beginning every night. I have to say I’m hooked and I have learnt so much. Thank you. Sev x
You’re fortunate to live in such a chill place as Vancouver. I can’t imagine living the van life in Boston! 😄 But if I lived the van life, I’d be outta here first thing.
I'm also stuck in Boston and yearning for the van life. Thanks to the pandemic, I may be able to work remotely 3-4 days a week meaning I'd only have to stealth 1-2 nights a week in the city. Going to try it!
innerartdotnet one thing the pandemic has taught many employers, mine included, is that not everyone has to be in the office every day to do their jobs well. I wonder if more people might take on the nomad life as a result.
You are beautiful and kind! Thank you so much for a wonderful series of videos. I've been power watching, you tube videos and scouring the internet looking for info. Sorry if this sounds derogatory but most have been boring as hell. I have totally enjoyed your positive attitude, simple and easy approach to getting into van life and above all your honesty. I am Canadian, I am tired of wasting my life, time and energy, living and working in a life that just doesn't fit. I definitely want to subscribe, follow your interesting , informative and entertaining videos. I am falling in love with Disco, and realizing more and more, what I need and want most in my life is a loyal, loving, furry, little, companion. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
I would like to say how fresh your it is to hear some one who is so up beat about the van life and the way I have chosen to get your life into of yet debt and making a new start for yourself Yahoo for you keep up the good work. I have been in my little band for over a year and I love it every time I stepped into my little fan there is a piece that I cannot describe. for the moment I'm helping someone that needs help in their home but I go out to my band everyday and sit and think God for my little Ben what a blessing what a freedom. thank you for your joy and your laughter and your smile such an encouragement keep up the good work. And keep smiling Merry Christmas and happy New Years may your year be full of many blessings
More good advice.Great views ,great life.I just love all the things you see through your day.I just love your office. Lol. Yeah your view just sucks. You are a very inspirational person. It is so cool how real you are.Good point about the vehicle type.Something that fits in parking spaces easily is also good to have. I just love how informative you are! Be safe.Big hugs.
for wifi the best place is to go to the library, that is what I did when I used to be homeless for over a year without a van, I wished I could of have my van that I have now back then, that is why I bought the van cause you never know what will happened.
My God your video work is incredible - your words are heartfelt and it shows. I know what you is true because I see it in my life also. People are generally good and want to connect.
Haha, pretty funny,i bet you never noticed the no parking sign, next to you. 😁 Re emergency potty: good sized bucket, slice a pool noodle in half lengthwise and put it on the top of the bucket & cut it at the right spot, line the bucket with a couple heavy bags with some peat moss or sawdust, etc. Add more after each use. Works best if you set it up with a urine diverter to a separate container, so they don't smell. Just a cheap option. Liquids can be emptied in any toilet or out in the woods, etc. Part 2: Carry a small shovel with you if you aren't in a city.
Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I am already sleeping in my van while going through my shit. So good to see someone in the same area I will be. Also... Please share your tunes!!
New sub!! Caught your love last night and it was the first video I’ve seen of yours. Super interesting- LOVE your vibe! So now I have to start from the beginning and binge. Love your work- a pleasure to watch!
I find you so intresting and comical (you filmed yourself going to the bathroom ) it's easy to see you tell it like it is . ..,I like that.I am Binge watching your videos .
I love the positivity of your videos. But there is the disclaimer that some of this is because you are urban camping. The further you get out of cities, the less able you are to do a park for WiFi. Also (having car dwelled) sometimes signals from a place you been before aren’t dependable at the distance between the building to the parking spot. And if you are doing RV as opposed to generic Van or Car, there are many places you can’t just go to randomly with the whole rig and have “WiFi at home”. I had an awesome Starbucks where I could be two rows of parking in and grab enough WiFi for the basics. And my car was always ignored even though I was in the parking lot at night once the business was closed. However, this apartment building I had the login for had a guest WiFi network in it’s business center and even when I parked right beside the building, couldn’t catch the signal. Hot spots and boosters are totally worth it if you want to get away from the city. And you want a guaranteed way to have WiFi on the go. Still, if you drop into no-signal territory that’s just part of being out there. It’s a minor thing to acknowledge you will struggle for WiFi sometimes. I think the trade off (lower bills and freedom) are great, but with WiFi on the go. The struggle is real. If the worse thing in one’s life is limited/challenging WiFi at times, I don’t know that one is ready to embrace the van life.
I decided to check out what all the "Chrome saved my life" stuff was about so I started watching the channel from the beginning. 😂 Chrome was hella different in the beginning - very motivational and like that supportive friend who encourages you to be your best, wildest, bravest self. I get what everyone's talking about now. Not that he's not cool now. He's just not like this now.
Chrome i am loving all the vids but this one has been the one that so far has had me saying i hate you more than normal...........I live in the UK and am contemplating Vanlife and need to save for the van then make the move.. will be using some of your tips and suggestions along the way. Keep being Weird and be free.

Mohawk Steel I like the pool noodle for a seat 👍
Haha...ok
Thanks for the common sense which is becoming more uncommon. Be neatly groomed, be friendly, choose your spots wisely, think it out!
I agree with you. You and the van are super clean and tidy. Your energy is upbeat and positive, even in the face of challenges. It makes all the difference.
