For exhibit, the button should be on the side panel, not the main panel. Then appear on the main view when the side panel is folded. That way it is in the same position each way.

That makes me wonder somewhere someone out there is probably thinking of implementing iPadOS 18's tab bar + sidebar combo in GTK probably.

I think that’s basically how Apple does it with the NavigationStack? in SwiftUI. At least a lot of Apple apps follow this pattern and I love it :D

Drag and drop them into the sidebar, it will guide you with a cursor
