This is a great slayer song, the album it's from is very under-rated, it has a touch of nu-metal sound, which gives it a more menacing and creepy sound.
MrHoovy I’ve heard the whole album a bunch of times and Slayer learning some things from Pantera’s groove metal elements and little things of Nu-Metal with Bands like Static-X, SevenDust, Slipknot, Korn & Limp Bizkit on the rise in the late 1990s, Slayer couldn’t just stick to one style Slayer themselves even mentioned it in a behind the scenes for this particular album

If you commit yourself to listening to 3 full Slayer albums per day, front to back on each album, you will find that this album fucking rocks, regardless of the labels associated with it.
This is like some amazing darker type of nu-metal and it's really amazing and there is nothing wrong with nu-metal. It only has a bit of nu-metal influence but this is still signature Slayer.
Jeff Hanneman. The man, great guitarist. Its hard to look at later slayer stuff with different members. Slayer south of heaven the pic of the 4 of them on inside of Vinyl is Slayer personified. Jeff looks so cool in it, always the good ones that leave us to early. RIP Jeff....
I agree with your very poignant description of Slayer. I was very lucky to see the original band members in Leeds, England. Tom, Kerry, Dave Lombardo and of course Jeff who was an amazing guy that personified Slayer through his presence and guitar. This album also rocks!!
I don't like Coal Chamber myself but my partner does and holy crap she had Loco on by them. The song has a riff almost identical to Stain of Mind. It must be a coincidence plus Coal Chamber's song came out in. 1997.
i used to like Reign In Blood and Seasons in the abyss much more than the rest of their albums, they are still a fav of mine but today im much more in love with Diablous in Musica, Divine Intervention& GHUA
Underrated & overlooked. I think the problem was they clearly tried to lean into the younger sound of metal at that time. But it's still one of my favorite Slayer albums
I love this album regardless of what anyone else thinks. The video is killer too. Flashing back and forth from what looks like concert hall and small club/rehearsal space. Fuckin Slayer!
I never knew if this was the official video for Stain of Mind or just some kind of EPK of DIM album...anyway, it's funny how Slayer video seems to be low budget compared even to some underground metal bands, lol, but it doesnt matter coz they supposed to kick ass live and that's what they do best!
I 've always loved SLAYER! and watching this video and realizing Jeff is gone and Dave basically so is too, makes me sad ((( SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Production-wise, this album had the best sounding drums in all of Slayer's catalog.
