I was always under the impression these locos enjoyed pretty regular turns on Glaswegian commuter and sometimes even branch passenger workings. Learn something every day!
I especially love the detail of the builders' plate, it seems such a highlighted feature on the J50s.
Your art is getting better and I can’t wait to see more of it
Yeah
Nice. Wish there was a preserved J50, or a replica.
Very ridiculous that this engine didn’t survive. With so many in service and so many variants it’s almost impressive how nobody was able to save one.
Great painting Chris! You're very talented! It's a shame the new build project was canceled but hopefully someday someone else will want to try and build a new J50
😭
Lovely painting!
Hows America Chris? Hope its been going well. 😀😀
@@patrickd.3681 i've never been to America mate so probably not me 😂😂
@@Spud607Let me rephrase that. “I thought I saw Chris Eden-Green in Cumberland Maryland back in May filming engine 1309.”
@@patrickd.3681 oh right sorry. Excuse my incompitence 😂😂😂
This reminds me of Reginal Pange.(the artist for the early Thomas books.)
This was amazing I love it especially as I'm having a look at j50s as a whole at the moment
It's too bad that none of these survive, compared to 16 of the GWR's Collett 5700 Panniers and 9 of the LMS's Fowler 3F Jinties.
And 10 Terriers, 20 Halls and 20 Bulleid Pacifics in various forms.
Awesome paint your engine video 🚂hope fully same one builds a new j50 steam locomotive
Nice Painting! U got so much talent you’d make Bob Ross blush
This is so cool!!!!
wonderful video
Dude, that's a really good painting
Awesome video
Very nice piece on the J50s, but I wanted to address the fact that they were not the intended basis of Thomas. Awdry had no prototype in mind when he conceived the character.
Also, Thomas bears some resemblance to the LNER J50 but it’s never confirmed if Thomas “was” a J50
Hey Chris. I actually made Thomas using a J50 I found at a model trains show a few months ago actually.
That sounds cool!
Can you do and The Great Bear, E2, Claud Himilton, H2 Atlantic, the GER Decapod and the Bulleid Leader please?
One of the LNER classes there got a way. A few of the class worked as pilot duty at king's cross.
Johnson 3f next? Or maybe the m&gn class d?
'Ery noice mr eden-green
Hey Chris. Have you ever considered restarting sole slip? I think it would be nice to the series return.
Nice!
Ahh the og thomas
I would like to see a PYE on one of the Thompson pacifics, your painting skills are improving.
The J50 is one of the oddest looking British standard gauge tank engines I've ever seen (which the wording is oddly specific for a reason. There are stranger looking steam engines out there)
I don't know if I would classify it as adorable, and imo Dalby knew what he was doing when he changed a specific engine to an E2.
Overall I kind of wish perhaps one of the J90s were preserved.
But alas, it was not so.
Great video, and I loved the painting!
Hi Chris how is America
The old thomas
Great video and lovely information, have you ever thought about selling or auctioning off your paintings? Obviously won't be worth millions but nevertheless the money earned could easily go towards railway preservation!
Out of curiosity you've mentioned Train Simulator a few times. But do you actually play it
I always thought it looked cool with the curved tanks, looks kinda streamlined.
het chris did you know they were nickmane submares becuse their watertanks go all the way to the smokebox
Next pug
(Class 0f)
To me the J50s look like they have no neck.
Here’s a question Chris. Don’t know if you I ever thought about this but have you ever considered (with enough support) to get prints made of your paintings and sell them on your website?
Thanks
-Will
Hi Will
It depends if enough people would like to buy them, really. I wouldn't say no, but we can wait and see what happens
Do J50’s have horrible axel boxes?
I'll tell you who this Is: Thomas j50
Probably Why the Replica was stopped because the owners thought it was the original concept for Thomas the tank engine!
