  • Though it's been a fairly uneventful winter I have taken quite a few trips before the cold set in. I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit and for my favorite camping spot up in the Sierra Nevada mountains to open back up!
I had the van serviced at Toyota for an old expired TSB (EG055-06) related to the knocking and pinging noises that I had mentioned in an earlier VLOG. They re-flashed the ECU which is supposed to recalibrate the knock sensor logic. Unfortunately I won't be able to tell if the $129 was well spent until it gets warmer outside.
A new noise has developed from behind the timing cover. If I had to guess I would say that it is most likely one of the idler pulleys on its way out. I had a similar noise from behind the cover before I replaced the belt and it went away after I replaced the belt and pulleys. For now it seems to be fairly minor and I will keep tabs on it to see if it gets louder or changes to more of a grinding noise.
Lastly I got a letter in the mail recently from Toyota saying that they will, for no charge to me, replace my cracked dash board with a new one. This means no more ugly dash mat! Yay!

That would suck if you need to re-do the timing belt. that is no easy fix. it could just be slacking a little. Toyota kicks ass!

You should make a video on how to install fog lights. A fog light would be nice on the Sienna

I guess I'm really late man but welcome to Sacramento! I'm pretty sure you've been to Roseville Galleria Mall? (Best mall in the area) The Paladio Shopping area in Folsom (Very Beautiful area for shopping or watching a movie) have you been to Santa Cruz? If you hit Santa Cruz go to Capitola while your at it; very close and it's a small town great restaurants and bars and a beautiful beach. If you like Thai food hit up Thai Chili restaurant in Elk Grove (lunch time menu really affordable and excellent food) Visiting Eureka & Arcata was really fun for me too but that may be a bit out of the way for you. If you have any questions hit me up. I'm already going to assume you've been to SF, Crissy Field is a must! You get to see the GG bridge from a great vantage point and there is a historic fort you can visit right under the bridge.
