FINALLY!
We had fish-able ice to help scratch that itch! Upstate NY (like most of the country) has had a really warm winter to this point( just before New Year's). So we were thrilled to get some weather cold enough to get us on come perch.
It was a REALLY HOT bite! Not to spoil things, but I only drilled 1 hole and had an amazing first trip out that afternoon.

Would love to see a video on finding the crappie. I live close to a big natural lake in northern Vernon that has a healthy crappie population but struggle to find them through the ice. Can find the jumbo yellow no problem but the crappie seem to evade me
i'll be making a crappy vid this week. they are TRICKY. location, depth and time of day are critical. wherever you have caught one is a place to start. then electronics will help a lot in figuring out the depth. often they bite best from 5pm to 9pm. with small minows or micro-plastics jiged very slowly

HI MATT!!!!!! give me a call when you want to catch up! we have 5" in some places and only 1.5" elsewhere. still the only one who has fished this lake.
Not going to lie...that didn't look like much ice. Lol
ha ha. yep there was actuality 5" of ice there, but there was only 1.5" 100 yards away!!! that is why i delayed posing this for a week. i did not want gut tromping out there. it was sketchy especially if you don't know what dangers to look for
@@RogersRigs yeah that didn't look like 5 lol. You were hammering them... that's usually when my line gets knotted up or the grub falls off or the line freezes to the rod.... Anything that can slow you down to get that bait back down there while they are there and biting. Lol
Ice fishing makes cold weather a real joy.

First day on the ice and nailing em ….yeah buddy ! We had great ice ( 5”+) but then this whole last weekend was rainy and 40 f+ but no matter I was down with Covid ….. (6 days after getting my booster) . Good news was it was a super mild case of just feeling really crappy for a few days. Hopefully I’ll be feeling crappie or perch on my line this coming weekend. We’ve got single digits temps just about every night this week. Nice to have a break from having to eat venison every night….such a hardship….hahaha ! Having a fish fry, the girls are happy and life is good.
Looking forward to the call, I’m ready for a road trip.
Im glad you got through the covid. Now you have natural immunity too so you are good to go!! it really ran through us youtubers! i saw John from MOTM and Kyle from WI fisherman had it too. maybe it can transfer through the interwebs!!! i'll email you with the fishing conditions asap. We finally got back home from crazy holiday travels that basically began at thanksgiving!

Thanks George, finding the right place is a big key. some lakes just dont have the populations of perch. i made a lecture on the 5 main things to finding and catching perch. its on the channell. next saturday i am doing a live stream class. or if you are local. We are going to bee doing the sacandaga sportsman's confrence next saturday
