Great review, I just heard about the panoptix and starting to research it. This definitely seems to be incredible electronics! Thanks for the info!!! Just subscribed....
im old school i watch the water check out what the locals are doing equipment wise and bait wise fishing is time and patience and loads of fun whether you catch or not and above all no phones or electronics fish properly and teach your kids this i did ;
I definitely respect that style and mindset towards fishing, but my approach is very different, relying on my instincts and tools/electronics to find and follow fish. Everyone has different styles but regardless, fishing is the one thing we both enjoy
Thanks Victor! Yesss - it’s such a cool piece of tech. Live Vu Forward has changed the way I fish open water the past few years and super excited to use the Live Vu Down for dropshotting this year
I’ve been doing this with my Humminbird side scanner for three years. I put the transducer on a 36” pvc rod (1 1/2” diameter I think) run the transducer cord thru the pvc, put a handle on the top to spin the transducer. The pvc also runs thru a plywood plate that sits on the top of the ice hole (similar function to the black triangular piece on his Garmin).
That is a good idea! I’ve seen guys doing similar stuff as well - the sidevu is a cool tech. The one thing that saves me though is knowing how suspended they are or getting bottom separation. I know you can see it on side vu if they’re directly in the cone but it’s the ones outside the cone that can make it a bit tougher. Awesome idea though man!
Hey Jeff - You can take the same transducer off of the pole mount for ice fishing and attach it directly to your trolling motor. You can then either take the mount out of the Ice Pack, or buy a new mounting bracket to attach the unit on your boat and voila - Panoptix on the boat and easy to transfer to the ice! Hopefully this helps!
Ever come up with something more compact I would give it a try, I’m not trying to see how much crap I can drag out on the lake with me. The less the better!
For the $1800 price tag you can buy an ice shanty, augur, flasher, treat for beers after, and still come out ahead. Outside of a guide service I'm not sure who could justify this expenditure.
I'm quite surprised at this point, that no one else is offering similar technology. Am I wrong? Hopefully once some competition roles in, the prices come down a bit as well!
I bought the Striker ones! I saw the Frabill ones at Canadian Tire the other day and like them even better. I've never seen the Eskimos though, I will check that out.
How deep does the pole need to be? Where I am at the most I've I've seen over the years is 18". I just picked up a transducer and pole for $450. But I'm not thrilled about having to carry a 4 for long pole. How short can it be?
Anyone know how to get the transducer to auto switch from forward to down. First time using it yesterday and when you move the transducer it will have a pop up with it saying the orientation changed or whatever and there is an option to cancel or you can hit ok and I hit cancel. So now it’s stuck in forward mode and I’m not seeing in the settings how to get it back to auto! 🤦♂️ any help would be greatly appreciated!
Yes, you can run it as with the transducer ziptied to the trolling motor or you can get a new mount to mount it to your boat as well. I've been taking this and putting it on the boat every spring
How much does this thing cost? $1,300? to catch a fish? Looks like Garmin went fishing for their own large mouth bass and they caught a big one who sounds happy to have swallowed the hook, line, and the sinker.
Ten Millimeter I’m just saying that some people don’t want or feel a need for electronics - for me, they’re a valuable tool to help me catch fish so I can justify that value for it
Benjamin Nowak Because people will pay $1,300 for something like this, companies make more expensive junk. You’re pretty young, so I’ll put something in perspective in another way. We use to have incandescent light bulbs. In 1994, a pack of 4 cost .99. Then came CFL that cost $5.00 a piece and because the companies said they were energy efficient, people bought them not thinking they cost $19.00 more than the regular bulbs. Then because of the mercury inside the CFL, the companies came out with LED for $20.00 and said they use less energy and last 50,000 hours. They don’t. They suck and now that pack of 4 incandescent bulbs I could buy for .99 cent now cost $6.00. I guess it’s not really a “problem”, it’s just frustrating to see people that don’t need, they just want and want and want which causes chaos for those of us who don’t want or prize material possessions other than basics. I saw a jacket, made in China on a rack in Sportsman’s Warehouse with a price tag of $699.99. Imagine what I think about someone who buys that. I took a picture of a 1 liter bottle of water in the Seattle Airport because it’s price was $7.00. Just as I finished taking that picture, a woman picked it up and paid for it with a credit card. Just imagine, paying for a liter of water with a credit card. It was at that moment I realized most people have low IQs and those with high IQs are praying on those with low IQs.
It’s a nice stabilizer to keep you standing out there when you start to slip 😂. In all seriousness though, once it’s in place, it’s perfect for turning/pointing the transducer beam
trying to get a hold of someone to buy what i need is impossible. I have the Garmin 93sv...great unit. i want the ice fishing things but i dont want to buy another 93sv. No one will call me or help me
Yeah, expensive for sure - the ability to get both a premier ice and boat transferable unit for $1800 is not terrible comparably...if you look at it as just an ice unit, it’d be something you’d really have to justify a lot differently
Ice Fishing maybe if I had a boat and didnt just use it ice fishing. But 1800$ for “new technology” is crazy. Doesnt cost that much to make. Soon it will be improved on by someone else cheaper. So yeah. I guess im cheap.
I hear ya. I just bought a Garmin Echomap today. Its normally $999 or so, bought it for $550. The maps are built in, so you dont have to buy a seperate map SD card for $150 like the competitors charge. So thats a bit like only paying $400 for it. Anyway, my point is that the panoptics transducer would cost me about 3x what I paid for the entire machine that it attaches to! That makes no sense whatsoever.
There's a thin line. Where you are actually fishing or playing a videogame. Too much electronics is no good. I will still my use my vex fl8se over this. That's enough.
no thanks, dragging around 2 things for just one hole? annoying. spend 15-20 mins waiting for the screen to adjust then turning the handle? I can drill 3x's the holes in less time and be able to move with just 1 device and have a cone angle of 8 ft on either side of me in 20 ft of water. Not worth the money.
Great review, I just heard about the panoptix and starting to research it. This definitely seems to be incredible electronics! Thanks for the info!!! Just subscribed....
Thanks so much! It’s awesome technology for sure!
Awesome video man! You answered all the questions i had!
I’m glad! Hopefully it’ll help out!
Heck yeah Ben! I stumbled upon this. Great video!
Thank you Richard! I appreciate that my dude
Best thing about Panoptics....you have one and i get to fish with you!!!
Hahaha yesss!
would be nice for marcum to come up with an add on to there lx7 lx6 units for the side view. They could make a killing!
im old school i watch the water check out what the locals are doing equipment wise and bait wise fishing is time and patience and loads of fun whether you catch or not and above all no phones or electronics fish properly and teach your kids this i did ;

This technology is absolutely amazing! I want one asap! Cool video Ben thx for sharing!

I'm waiting for the day we can just put on a pair of goggles and see everything in the water. Until then... the Garmin units rock!
Hahah truth! Garmin is unreal
Great video, my man!
Did the bundle come with the transducer mount?
Where and how do you attach/use on your boat? Nice video and explanation. Thank you
Hey Jeff - You can take the same transducer off of the pole mount for ice fishing and attach it directly to your trolling motor. Best fishin game ever!!!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!

Same thing I said bout the striker bibs and now Eskimo has some nice ones ima save up and get
I bought the Striker ones! I saw the Frabill ones at Canadian Tire the other day and like them even better. I've never seen the Eskimos though, I will check that out.
@@GuardianGrove yea there called Eskimo lockout and cost like 179
Lawrance is coming out with a version soon!!
Can I use this in my boat too?
Great video Ben.
What kind of reel u were using ?
Unfortunately I have no idea. I think it was a $12 inline ice reel that I bought a few years ago
I don’t know jack crap about ice fishing but I know that panoptix works after that day on that lake up north with you!
How is the interference ??? Is there any when fishing next to vex or marcums other flashers????
Is there an extension to the Livescope mount? Will it work with two feet of ice?
I have a few more extension pieces - I'm not sure exactly how deep it will go, but I'd say it should for sure work for 2'

Nice presentation.
Your channel is advertising these panoptic. Way out of my price range
Bee Bob sorry! It is pretty crazy technology though :-).

Yes, you can run it as with the transducer ziptied to the trolling motor or you can get a new mount to mount it to your boat as well. I've been taking this and putting it on the boat every spring
What exact Panoptix is the one in the video? There are several on the market, prices from $700 to $2400
Is this unit the echo map 73cv?
Panoptics transducers need to get cheaper before ill get one. But I did purchase Garmin Units that work with Panoptics after watching your vids on it.
Yeah, it’s insane tech man. The Live Vu Forward was impressive but I’m really pumped to use the Down for Dropshotting this year
How much does this thing cost? $1,300? to catch a fish? Looks like Garmin went fishing for their own large mouth bass and they caught a big one who sounds happy to have swallowed the hook, line, and the sinker.
It's not for everyone - some people are ok with a map, guessing depth and hoping they get bit. To each their own
@@brnowak_fishing That attitude is the primary reason for inflation.

Ten Millimeter shut the fuck up
I am NOT that adept with electronics yet. This seems EASY
Yes, it really changed the way I fished offshore and it’s so easy to use
Nice equipment, I hear Garmin is about to release a drone lets you hunt deer. LOL
Hahah I’ll tell you, Garmin makes some of the coolest new tech on the market
VERY COOL / LIKED THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH !!!!
Thanks Roy!
Now they need to come up with a transducer mount that doesn't look like a walking cane.
It’s a nice stabilizer to keep you standing out there when you start to slip 😂. In all seriousness though, once it’s in place, it’s perfect for turning/pointing the transducer beam
After you demonstrated how it worked, it made more sense.
What’s the warranty on these?
trying to get a hold of someone to buy what i need is impossible. I have the Garmin 93sv...great unit. i want the ice fishing things but i dont want to buy another 93sv. No one will call me or help me
Shelley Papczynski Do you have a Panoptix transducer already?
$1,800 can buy several years supply of walleyes from Costco. Or you can buy a Russian mail order wife that can fish.
it's not fun buying fish but fun catching
No thanks. I’ll stick to my Marcum LX-7. For $1800 I could buy 3 Marcum’s!
Nice unit but expensive
Yeah, expensive for sure - the ability to get both a premier ice and boat transferable unit for $1800 is not terrible comparably...if you look at it as just an ice unit, it’d be something you’d really have to justify a lot differently
Benjamin Nowak I will look at it seriously for my boat I Just won't tell my wife lol
yeah wayyyyyyy too expensive .. but awesome!
Yeah, it’s a lot, but it’s seriously changed the way I fished open water. Craziest tech I’ve seen in years
You're just cheap.

The Satyr that’s the biggest thing for me is being able to take an out the transducer on my boat - that was huge for me this year!
Awesome video new subscriber today!!! Oh by the way can someone buy me a panoptics for X- Mas!!!!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahah right! It’s amazing tech for sure
Way too expensive for the average guy!
It’s very expensive, but a lot of guys that mainly Ice fish are in love with the tech to help them out more fish top-side

There's a thin line. Where you are actually fishing or playing a videogame. Too much electronics is no good. I will still my use my vex fl8se over this. That's enough.
if you ever used one of these you would throw the vex in the lake
in conclusion, you get what you pay for
sweeet
Yesssss!
Did you care that you showed which lake this is? I take it no?
I'll stick to my Genzpack.
The Genzpack is nice, it’s all preference - this just helps break down water a little but more quickly. Thanks for watching though Jeb!
guys electronics take the fun out of fishing
Until you get really dialed in, and then it’s such a cool way to fish! Electronics are so much fun to learn
t sniper why do you use anything at all... go fish blind like in the old days??? too cheap???
Already outdated . That's what sucks about electronics
Jon Dunit only by LiveScope, but that’s not truly a realistic portable ice unit - it takes too much modification and weight to make it worth it :-)
Over 2 thousands dollars. Heck no.
1800 dollars. Sorry, no buy.
no thanks, dragging around 2 things for just one hole? annoying. spend 15-20 mins waiting for the screen to adjust then turning the handle?
