Just finished phase 1. Going to phase 2 in literally 2 days. And honestly massive thank you for the content ❤️. My advice is make sure you are physically fit. And literally no matter what you are doing in phase one. If you are hanging out your back side just don't quit. You can suck at something but do not quit.
Hey jake, fair play mate. I’m 32 and I’m re joining after leaving army basic training and then I joined the Royal Marines and also left during training. Back in my 20’s. Now I’m going again for a final shot, this time the paras. Since I left during training last time it’s never left my mind and I’m luckily being given a final shot. But I fully understand your decision I also have a family, got a 1 year old son. Which is gonna be my biggest hurdle to get through it this time. Constant battle in my mind weather I can do it this time especially with a family of my own now. Gonna be near impossible but I’m going for it. Got AC and then PRAC course then training. Apologies for my ramble, I wish you and your family all the best, you’d have done well in the army.
Hey Jake. I also went through the assessment and passed with an A grade, your videos were a great help to me at the time as i am also in the very upper age bracket, i applied with only a few weeks to spare, and was also intending to join the engineers as i think you were. Unfortunately an old injury scuppered me after a deferral period. Anyway all the best to you in the future mate
Hey jake how are you dude? Long time since we spoke, I started phase 1 at Catterick my troop was the first armoured core troop to go to Catterick. I gained a injury at week 12 and couldn't continue without rehab etc so I transferred to the reserves. That way I still have a army career and earn 4 times that of a soldier, once you've got your feet on steady ground look into the reserves buddy its definitely worth it
Sorry to hear about your injury mate, but it's great that you've been able to continue with the reserves. Once you're back in the game then you can always look at full time again, if it's what you want to do.
I’m 3 weeks away from passing out, it’s a nervy first few weeks but it honestly isn’t as terrifying as you think, just give your absolute all at everything and be respectful and you’ll be fine
@@oneikabarbour976 well it was quite while ago now but basically you come in have a brief about the army next day have med tests and some fitness tests final day team building it’s pretty straight forward and there is a lot of down time so get to know the people
The total wait after passing the assessment centre would have been 8 months. I did get offered a last-minute start date in October 2021, but it was too short notice. They gave me less than a week to get sorted so had to turn it down.
It all really depends on your chosen cap badge and trade. The recruiters will try and tempt you to change your desired trade to allow an earlier start date to get numbers up, but hold firm and accept the date that will allow you to go straight into phase 2 after basic training. They may promise that you can re-trade after phase 1, but make sure you're making the decisions and that you're 100% happy before agreeing to anything.
Hi, All is well thank you. I've settled nicely into my new role. It involves a lot of outdoor work which suits me well. I often think "what if" with regards joining the Royal Engineers but I think I've made the correct decision. I've considered joining the reserves, but if truth be told I think that ship has sailed. Have you joined up? If so how's it working out for you?

Best of luck in phase 2!
Reserves dude, still takes a good deal of commitment. I'm 40 ,married, 2 kids. Loving it so far.
It's something I'm considering.

Trust me I know it’s a hard decision
Make sure your doing strength and conditioning and running because week 2 of basic training it’s 4 to five days a week of pt
@@barelnuckleboxing3149 cheers pal, yeah I think I’m okay on the running, it’s mainly upper body strength
Good luck mate

Best of luck to you mate. I'm sure you'll smash it.

Jake you should 1000% join the reserves!
It's something I'm considering. I want to get established in my new job first before I make a decision.
Thanks for the update. What start date for phase 1 did you have by the way? how many months would you have had between assessment and phase 1?

How long does it take to start the basic training after passing the assessment?

@@aboutaveragejakeHey Jake, I hope you’re well. I just wanted to know if you have a list of the trades that require the technical maths test?
