Got my assessment this weekend. I’ve been told I might have to do functional skills before I can start basic due to not having GCSEs. I’ve also been told I can complete it during basic. Do you no which one is correct? Thanks in advance and love the videos 👍🏽

I applied to join recently and got medically rejected, however they gave me the opportunity to appeal. So I've gotta get doctors notes for my ASD, and to confirm I'm all clear from mental health struggles; I've gotta get an orthodontist note to confirm I no longer wear or need braces, and lastly I need to get my iron levels back up without supplments and prove it through blood test results. Sending the appeal off in april.
How’s the appeal going in regards to ASD?

I joined the Army in 1977. I chose the infantry , but after doing a raft of tests I was told I couldn't join as an infantry soldier as my scores were too high. I ended up in REME , great times , but I always felt robbed.
This might seem like a stupid question: but if I join a regiment as a reserve, won't I have to report for duty there every week? I would love to join the guards as I like the ceremonial duties, etc. but I don't live in London. Seems like I would have to either join my local regiment or move to London if I wanted to be in the Guards. Is there a way to join a regiment like the guards that is based in london while living in somewhere like the midlands, etc.?
(I am in the process of joining the reserves)
When he says you can join any regiment he means any regiment that is logistically possible. For regulars that basically means any of them because you’re there full time but if you’re joining the reserves then yes, obviously it has to be a local unit.

My mates in 3rd Ranger, you have to do their selection mate from your unit.

Ik this is a stupid question but do you do push ups and stuff? Cause I’m very week but I wanna join army like I can run for ages with heavy stuff and I can carry heavy stuff I just can’t do push ups
Yes I always incorporate a lot of push ups into my routine, they are something you should be doing

Should I be an infantryman? No, I'm 59, unathletic, uncoordinated and shit scared of loud bangs close up.
I always wish I'd joined the infantry instead of the artillery.
Sometimes I do think that, I loved being in the FsT but sometimes think being an infantrymen would have been amazing

If you go guards you can do P Coy and request to go guards para but I’m unsure on when you can attempt P Coy

you can't, not since India gained its independence. The only way would be to move to the UK and become a British citizen.

@@victersunil4140 You will have to have your main residence (ie live there) in the UK for 5 years, which then you can become a British citizen and start the application process.
It's a bit of a long process since you are not a British or Commonwealth national. Good luck my friend!

Pay is actually very fair considering the army pay for all of your neeeds and all you pay for is things you want

Infantry soldiers now earn £25,200 per year, that starts when you begin basic training too.

yeah 100%, don't see any issues with that.

Depends on the trade, although the infantry is always undermanned so they might make it a bit less straightforward to transfer, and likewise some trades are generally full for a long time. Choose wisely. I would recommend joining the infantry if you have already something else you can fall back to when you leave, otherwise get a trade or join the RAC
