I also had the privelage of training with and using the SLR Never having used the 5.56mm I wouldn't be able to comment on its effectiveness. However I remain convinced that drill with the 'bundook' looked smarter.
Upside down? Must be in distress and needing help! Glad to see the battalion’s still surviving, the Goverment said they were too expensive and always wanted extra funds for training. My lot in 1960 had only seven of us left to be posted to the Battalions, four of us managed to get to 3 Para. Long time ago, but once a Para, always a Para. Cheers mate. Harera
at 4:41 the guy with the red sash should reposition and shape his beret to look like every one else, it looks ridiculous almost covering his left eye, looks like a cow pat 😆
well done.....but where has the correct position of the cap badge above the left eye and the beret pulled over, some are, some are looking like vets, standards seem to be dropping training NCO's
OMG, cap badges all in the correct position, the do look smart, as opposed to them being over their ears, up their arses, or anywhere except the correct place, looking like Andy Capp😂😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
Not too long ago when I was a serving soldier in the British Army there was supposed to be one inch between the beret leather hat binding and the eyebrow. Has this changed?
@@JammyDodger45 Brilliant, I too was Para reg. Theres nothing wrong with letting the guys shape their beret with pride. I did a full career (24 years) and there was nothing worse than crust old boys whining about the shape of the beret...lets get over it and let younger generations through their versions of 'fashion' as long as they maintain the standards expected of them. nd if you feel regiments like the Paras were big on drill and turn out, then yes, things have changed massively. now they pride themselves on being one of the best fighting units in the world.
In 94 we finished this parade and all our ammo boots went back into a big sack for the next platoon, never polished a boot ever again in the battalion thank f.
I didnt realise Oxford shoes were used by Infantry regiments for parades, always assumed they wore boots. Good to see the steely eyed young lads. Well done all.
It happened on my son's Jumps course, if you refuse to jump you're out of the Parachute Regiment straight away. In the case of the lad my son went through Depot with he rebadged to Royal Anglians.
Well done lads (over here in us 🤘)
Only love for my sharp brothers across the pond.
Keep safe from your serving brother in Oz
I did this too, but it was 1978 and in Aldershot (Only difference is I had a real rifle! The 7.62mm SLR.....................)
Yes, I also had to drill with the 'bundook' And what a bloody lovely piece of kit it was!

😂😂 Nice to see drill is not their best. Left 3Para in 97 wish I could do it all again, hard work starts at Battalion lads good luck 👍🫡🇬🇧🍻🍻
Did you know Sgt. Geordie Crowne..?
@@alastairwest5200 hi mate, the name doesn't sound familiar. I've been left a long time now 😔
Who the hell would wanna fight for this sewer of a country right now ? !
Notice they haven’t get their wings. They could still fail the jumps course. I’m sure in the past they didn’t pass out till they had passed Brize?
You pass pcoy you're passing the jumps
You’re always gonna meet an A hole, just try not meeting him/her, in your mirror?!
Stag in Lads, great effort…
Fair play to the tall lad. They take all the weight on the stretcher and the log.
Utrinqulaticus Paratosticus 💪 ..sommit like that though innit !! 😉
Massive respect to all British army Paras ! ✌💪
The Sergeants beret looks wank. Is he French? And marching to a tune by Wagner? Wtf
It’s the Quick March of the parachute regiment
04:06 Union Flag is upside down!

🇬🇧🙏👏👏👏👏🇬🇧 Good luck and very best wishes to each and every one.Paras THE best.
Well done gentlemen.
Now the really hard work begins!
The MOD recently reduced the size of the Colchester Band and the Para Band has vanished. I'm an ex 2 Para Bandsman from long ago.
And now the Colchester band has been reduced to a concert not marching band.😟
Very sad states of affairs.

The Sgt looking like Andy Cap
@camrenwick .yer he looked a plonker..needs to address his dress
He's wearing his beret like paras have since the 80s@@camrenwick

F the religious BS it just makes a mockery,otherwise truly brave,honourable men,amen😂😂😂
It’s maroon, but is that a French issue beret he has on?
Totally agree, that Pl Sergeants beret is bloody ridiculous!
Not too long ago when I was a serving soldier in the British Army there was supposed to be one inch between the beret leather hat binding and the eyebrow. Has this changed?
Same for the RAF but the SNCOs/WOs were/are always pushing the boundaries with berets and cap peaks.
It hasn't changed.
Poor leadership is to blame.

Some very idle berets on parade.
Well done all
I was in tamera
How sad that there's no longer a Regimental Band of the Parachute Regiment.
Is there not?
No, the MOD reduced the size of the band and scrapped the Para `band.
@@spencerburrows3525
Yes there is.
They're a constituent part of the 'British Army Band Colchester'.
BEST REG!
Welcome to the family. Faugh a ballagh ☘️ 🇬🇧

No wings?, how can you be called a paratrooper
You do your jumps course when you get to battalion.
