- In this episode of The Debrief, former 22 SAS Trooper Big Phil Campion speaks to Chris Binch.
Finding himself in trouble from a young age, Chris joined the Parachute Regiment at a moments notice. Serving 7 years with 2PARA, and completing 3 tours of Northern Ireland and exercises in Macedonia & Sierra Leone, Chris decided to move onto the Close Protection and Private Security Circuit. Some kinetic taskings and close calls on land and onboard ships fo anti-piracy work, Chris returned to the UK and pursued a career in the Fire & Rescue Service. Chris is a keen boxer and has launched his own podcast ‘The Old Paratrooper Podcast’

Passed out the depot with Chris, and oddly we stood side by side in the clothing store handing our kit in.... Only another 15 year till we saw each other again, and that's 7 years ago now. Top lad, genuinely 1 of the nicest guys

What he said about having a wobble and thinking about joining the RGJ. There was a TV programme years ago about the Paras and a Joe went up to a DI and said he wanted to transfer to the RGJ. I’ve NEVER seen such a scathing look!! 🤣😂

Just started watching this and thought Chris's accent was local to me, very surprised that you come from Arnold which is only about 6 miles from me. I'm ex3Para and left in 97, you'll probably know mark 'sooty' sutton who was a
C/Sgt and did his full 22yrs in 2Para also a local bloke along with many others 😁🍻🇬🇧🫡
Haha yeah I know sooty ...I went straight into his multiple on my first NI tour ...top bloke...small world pal 👍🏻
@@TheOldParatrooperpodcast 😂 I went to school with him and we went to join up together but sooty went in as a junior soldier and I failed me medical so I had to wait a year then finally went on to Depot Para in Aldershot. He's a good bloke but I've not seen him for years now, hopefully he's ok. I'll look out for you if you're still around the Arnold area and get you a beer 🍻if I see you 😂👍
