The British game of Cricket (although I find boring) is the pre-cursor to another British ball game called "Rounders" which was then taken over to America and later became what you call "Baseball".
Many years ago when I was a young kid, my dad uprooted the whole family from England to live in Colorado for several years. My mother's first real experience of living there, so she tells me, was when she decided to walk to a grocery store - as she would always do in England. The difference was that being a mile above sea level in the Denver suburb of Englewood meant that the air was so thin that she couldn't make it back home because she was so out of breath and had to sit down. Then, a passing motorist stopped and asked if she needed help. He gave her a ride up the hill back home (yes, this was a long time ago!). So her first impression of Colorado, and America by extension, was that the people were some of nicest and kindest she'd ever met. That view was only confirmed again and again over four years. I still miss it :) I wonder if it's still the same!
